Seven Private Acres Near Active Trout Stream

Bedrooms 3
Space 148 m²
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Head down a secluded mountain road, cross a little bridge, and you'll end up at your own private hideaway - Wald Haus. Wald Haus is a mountain chalet style cabin nestled in the woods near a babbling, stocked trout stream in Western North Carolina.

You'll find an upgraded kitchen with granite countertops and all the items you'll need for cooking that gourmet meal. There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom is huge! There's a comfy, king size bed, a walk-in closet, private bath with separate tub and shower, and a separate balcony.

Downstairs you'll find a bedroom with a queen size bed and another bedroom with two twins. The ground floor has another full bathroom. The great room has two sets of sliding glass doors letting the outside in. There's even a stone fireplace for those chilly nights. The cabin has a movie and book library at your disposal.

The large deck offers you a great place to enjoy the sound of the wind in the trees and the sound of the noisy trout stream. The property is along the stream, but the house itself is not directly on it. The stream is available for fishing or playing and there are trails to hike up the mountain. If you don't feel that adventurous, just chill out in the hammock!

About Erin Stambaugh

My husband and I recently moved back to the U.S. from Stuttgart, Germany, where Chris served in the military. We built 'Wald Haus' as we both love the mountains. We had anticipated that the Army would move us to North Carolina, but since we are now in Colorado, we decided to rent it out.

Erin Stambaugh purchased this chalet in 2009

Why Erin Stambaugh chose Robbinsville

My parents have cabins in this part of the Smokies. There's so much to do and 85% of the area is national forest.

What makes this chalet unique

We love white water rafting, hiking, fishing, and boating. This part of the mountains has everything.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved our time at the cabin - had everything and was very homely.

Great location. away from the tourist craziness - we went to Joyce Kilmer National Forest, Fontana Dam , walked a bit of the Appalachian Trail and went to Bryson City. Would love to come back.

Most Peaceful Place On Earth

  • 5 of 5

The pictures sold me, but it was SO much better in person. The cabin was way more spacious than I thought it would be and very updated. It was tempting to not even leave the cabin each day, but, alas, me and my roommates went to Yellow Creek to do two things: chew bubble gum and hike like crazy...and we all ran out of bubble gum... The location cannot be beat. Very quiet (except for cicadas) and you really feel like you're alone in the mountains. And you are relatively close to everything. The creek that goes through the property was really awesome as well and I wish we hadn't planned each day to be somewhere else because I really wanted to fish the creek for a few hours. Maybe next time. There was more than enough of everything when we arrived and all we really had to get was our own food. No extra trips for things the cabin lacked. Oh, and they even have direct TV! We turned the TV on just out of curiosity, for more of a joke...turns out the joke was on us...
