3-Bedroom House on St Peters Lake across from North Shore White Sand Beach

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Space 139 m²
Property type house
Minimum Stay nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, lakefront, oceanview, boat across lake, sleeps 8

Plovers Nest is on Saint Peters Lake in a small community near Lakeside. You can canoe/kayak across lake to miles of unspoiled sand dunes and white sand beaches or drive 5 minutes to the beach. This is not your typical cottage! It is a house with large rooms and high ceilings. There is plenty of space to spread out with a family of 5-8. Two bedrooms have king-size beds. The third bedroom has bunk beds plus a twin bed. It is 5 minutes to the famous Links at Crowbush Cove Golf Course and Lakeside beach; 5 minutes to the town of Morell which has groceries, restaurants, liquor store, tourism office, and bike and boat rental; and 30 minutes from Charlottetown airport.

There is fishing and bird watching on the lake with a boat ramp for your canoe, kayak or small fishing boat. Or use our canoe or kayaks. Two minutes to hiking or biking on the Confederation Trail. You can bike to everything you need (bring your own or rent in Morell).

House is large 1700 sq ft, enough for the family to play chess, cards, and jigsaw puzzles all at the same time. Enjoy high-speed wireless Internet and Satellite TV. See the waves before leaving the house. Pick blueberries for breakfast

House is only open Summer and Fall.

Bigger than a Cottage: The House has three large bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, and very large common room with kitchen and island to accommodate a large group. The House is in a small community of 7 cottages. Closest house is 90 feet away, next house is 150 feet away.

3-Bedroom House on St Peters Lake across from North Shore White Sand Beach
average rating of 4.7272725 based on 11 reviews

Clean, spacious, well-maintained property.

  • 4 of 5

This was a nice property with lots of space for a family of 4. 2 king-size beds in 2 rooms and then another room with a bunk bed and 2 single beds. All were comfortable. Open concept main area with lots of space and furniture. Television is small by today's standards. Good supply of games and fun things and a well stocked kitchen. Good instructions on how to get there. Location is pretty good with a drive of about 30 minutes to heart of Charlottetown and 40 minutes to Souris. Probably about 45-60 minutes to Cavendish.

A few small negatives: kayaks need to be taken from store room down to waterfront which is a shallow murky area. Because they were relatively heavy thus requiring some effort to get 3 different watercraft down to the water for 4 people to use, we ended up not using them. Because the water front is a natural grime, you can't really swim from there. Secondly, while the property does come with a dishwasher, there were only 2 tablets in stock and when I e-mailed the owner she indicated that renters are expected to supply their own. This was somewhat of a downer in an otherwise very well stocked property because I didn't really expect a need to bring dishwasher soap- all other cleaning supplies, tin foil, plastic wrap, etc, etc were supplied.

Overall a very positive impression and PEI itself is absolutely fabulous. Check out the Trailside Music Cafe just west down the road on the #2, 500 metres off the road at the gas station. We only went there on the last night and the music and the food were great. A mixed crowd of local regulars and away people.

Comfortable family vacation base

  • 4 of 5

Set in a.small grouping of cottage lots, the cottage is fairly new and very comfortably furnished. The neighbouring cottages are fairly close by, however, there weren't many other vacationers there the week we stayed so it was quiet and peaceful.

The view across the lake was lovely. I wished there was a comfortable seating or dining area on the deck as it's the most unique feature of the cottage.

Otherwise there are good amusements for the kids both inside - boardgames, tv/vcr- and outdoors - kayaks, canoe. The North shore beach itself - we drove once and kayaked another day - is stunning. Very dramatic dunes and the inlet that joins the beach to the lake is fun to explore. There were few visitors when we were there which made it even more magical.

King's County is one of the less touristy areas on the island which has its upsides and downsides depending on the kind of holiday you're looking for. It's very peaceful and quiet - at least when we were there - but with fewer restaurant and amusement options to choose from.

We really enjoyed cycling the Confederation Trail. One of the most popular legs on the trail is the Morell-St Peter's Bay section (11 km one way) which starts about 4 km away in Morell, as it is one of the rare waterside trails. It's a great trail for cycling - well maintained, signposted and even.

The ladies at the Morell Information Centre - where you can also rent bikes and watercraft - were so friendly and helpful.

Terrific vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for our family of four. Clean, comfortable, and spacious. It was wonderful to have the kayaks available to us, and we put them to good use! :-) Morell is a nice town to stay in -- we drove to Charlottetown, Cavendish and the Points East Coastal Drive. Rented bikes right in Morell too. We all said we'd stay in this cottage again in a heartbeat!

Peacefully beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This house has a nice combination of whimsical personal touches and modern conveniences. The common area is spacious and flexible. The views are beautiful, yet you can bring in young children without the fear they will fall off a cliff.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Flexible is the name of the game since we accommodate so many generations of family in the house when we are there. We have four different gaming groups at any time in the common room. Checkers anyone?

My trip to the Plovers Nest was incredible. The cottage is an idyllic setting the skyscapes, sunrises and sunsets are incredible. The Kayaking is superb St.Peters Lake is right out your door paddling to the gap in the dunes brings you to the most beautiful unspoiled beaches I've ever been to. The Morell River just minutes away is a fantastic place to paddle going upstream you are almost sure to see bald eagles and wildlife galore and that just sets the table to paddle out in St.Peters Bay to the working fishing harbor at Red Harbor as picturesque as any in all of the Maritimes.

I also enjoyed such sites as the National Historic village at Roma,East Point,NorthLake and the Greenwich Dunes. Shopping at the Morell Co-Op is a pleasure there is a wonderful farm stand a few kilometers away .It was a pleasure to sit on the deck eating dinner watching the glorious sunsets Bob Sohm

PEI is called 'The Garden of the Gulf.' It is famous for lobster, mussels, golf, strawberries, blueberries, lupins, and as the setting for all of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables books. What makes PEI unique of the Canadian Maritime Provinces is that an arm of the gulf stream swings back into the North Shore of PEI and warms the water. The water on the beaches near the house is usually in the 70s and is generally within 5 degrees of the Delaware beaches, although many people insist it is as warm as North Carolina beaches. The air is clean, and the province is many shades of green. The North Shore has white sand dunes and beaches.
