|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Newly renovated beach home directly across street from one house on a private beach. Enjoy water views of Long Island Sound from the 4 season front room and miles of protected salt marsh views from the full deck along the back of the house. The deck has a loveseat, 2 lounge chairs and coffee table on one end, a grill, dining table and 4 chairs on the other end - there is also an outside shower. The house has an spacious open floor plan of a large kitchen, family room, and living room, leading to two bedrooms and a full bath. This Home has central air & heat throughout, washer/dryer, full kitchen with new appliances and a dishwasher, cabinets full of dishes, glassware, pots & pans - everything you need - the new bath has extra linens and towels, the wood deck has a gas grill, seating for 8 on the deck - dine outside or in - outside shower on deck. And the beach is a short walk across the street! Shore Road is a 20mph, wonderful to walk or ride, lined with summer homes with families.
The house was gutted 5 years ago, raised and new electrical, plumbing, roof, windows, doors, ceilings, walls, floors, bath and kitchen completely new. Central air & heat available and overhead ceiling fans in all rooms for fresh cross breeze from the sound or marsh. 2 bedrooms offer private sleeping quarters, while sofas offer extra spots with one queen pullout sofabed. White sofa and loveseat in the livingroom have two end tables and a coffee table, large 60' TV with DVD & cable will entertain at night. Separate front room allows for two groups of people to do their own thing in one house and features a 4 seater rattan, custom-covered sofa and matching 2 chairs and ottoman, side table, coffee table, and bookcase with small TV. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, baking sheets & pans, serving dishes, wine glasses...it also has a drop-leaf table (which expands) with five matching chairs and 2 spares to add. Dine inside or out on the deck - you can see the sunsets and watch osprey and other birds in the salt marsh - another beautiful view. The beach across the street is only shared with one house (whose older inhabitants rarely leave their deck) so the beach is not crowded and access to the water is direct. Bring your walking shoes, bicycles or kyacks and enjoy! Route 1 is not far with Stop & Shop, Shop Rite, TJ Max, Clinton & Westbrook Outlet shopping, cinemas, many family and fine restaurants abound. Wonderful place to vacation with quick access to nearby Madison's State Park on the water, small towns with their historic sites and antique shops to wander through. I can give you many ideas to fill your days or nights when you want a break from enjoying the beach.
I grew up summering across the street, where my parents still live. They have been there 40 years as have most of our neighbors. We enjoy the beach, it our favorite place during the season, and when the season ends the weather is still warm, the water is warm too. This is my family's favorite place.
Marie Farrell purchased this cottage in 2005
The house across the street - on the beach - has been the place my family celebrated holidays and continues to be our place to gather. When our elderly neighbors passed away and their daughter - my peer - wanted to sell the house we jumped on the opportunity to buy it. We rent the house to offer everyone the chance to be on the beach for their vacation.
What's great about this house is that I gutted it and everything is new, that there is central air and ceiling fans, that there is a livingroom and a separate front room so that two groups can enjoy separate activities if they want to (watch tv in one room and enjoy reading or hearing conversations in the other). It's a wonderful house, it comes with everything, even dishwasher soap because i want you to have a wonderful vacation and come back again! I live just down the road so if you need anything I can come over quickly.
My wife and I (and our dogs!) have been staying here for a week every summer for many years. We love it and that's why we keep coming back. It's so peaceful and quiet and we are truly able to "refuel" during our stays there. We haven't even looked to stay anywhere else since coming upon this find! We'll definitely be back...
I stayed in this house for the 2015-16 academic year. It is an absolutely beautiful spot and a terrific location - sunrises in the morning, sunsets in the evening, right across the street from the Sound - and yet only a few minutes from shopping, restaurants etc. The house is spotless, comfortable, and very well equipped with everything you'd need, and Marie, the owner, is extremely helpful and kind.
This was our first time renting a beach cottage for our family vacation. The experience we had with Marie, the house, the beach, the community and everything else was absolutely perfect! It started with a warm friendly greeting from Marie. Then the cottage came with all the amenities listed and then some! It was so nice having 2 different areas for 2 groups of people to do different things, watch different shows, etc. The cleanliness and open floor plan was so nice. The beds were very comfortable and abundance of pillows and blankets was perfect! Central air was such a nice bonus. When it was cool we loved all the windows and fans for plenty of fresh air. The private scenic view from the back porch was priceless and where we spent quite a bit of time watching wildlife. Three Ospreys perched and slept every night in a tree 20 ft. from the porch. All the different birds, squirrels and even some rabbits were so relaxing to watch. In addition to the beautiful direct view of the sunset. The closeness of the ocean was incredible. It was so relaxing sitting on the private beach at any hour and there not be people everywhere you look. Our 3 year old had a wonderful time collecting shells and pebbles and building sandcastles while we played with the sand beneath our toes. What was so thoughtful was that there were chairs and some toys on the beach, which means not having to bring ours back and forth! The neighborhood seemed so family oriented and quiet we did not have to be bothered by noisy young folks partying. Anything we needed to run out and get was conveniently close and easy to get to. This was a perfect, quiet, relaxing family vacation spot. Marie was so thoughtful in every way of prepping this cottage for renters! I would rate her and this cottage a 6 out of 5 stars if I could.
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. The house came with everything we could have needed and then some. I never expected a dishwasher while on vacation! The beach was directly across the street and the marsh in back was full of wild life that we enjoyed watching. I would definitely return to this property if the occasion arose!
Town of Clinton features many historic homes, private beaches and outlet shopping malls - there's also one the next town over in Westbrook which also has a 12 cinema. 5 miles away is 5 miles of State Park beach of Hammonassett. Boston Post Road has many restaurants. You don't have to leave the area!
