About The Owner

I am a photographer and horse trainer. I travel a lot, that is how I found the unique area of Clark & Buck Taylor's cabin. I always travel with my dog's,a German Shepherd and a lively Jack Russell, and a new addition of a Great Dane! They LOVE to come out to the ranch and go hiking. My photography was fortunate enough to grace the cover of Cody & Beyond magazine & feature pictures of the area & the Cody Rodeo in the 2011-2013 & 2015 magazine. I spend my Summer's photographing some of the West's most memorable rodeo's but, the Cody Stampede s the most special of all!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why The Owner chose Clark

I loved the fact that I could be close to the mountains and yet when family and friends visit we could be close to TWO tourist towns and Yellowstone Park. We never run out of things to do! The mountains are so close and beautiful, and there is a wonderful view in every direction being up so high. Also a big factor is that even though the ranch is private , it is paved up to where the property starts. I can hike right off from the cabin & the Shoshonee National Forest is in the backyard. BLM land backs up behind the cabin so there is plenty of open space. Hiking in the Clark's Fork Canyon is such an experience, hearing the rush of the river, spotting wildlife, glorious views. Picturing the cavalry chasing down Chief Joseph and his tribe many years ago. Best is getting up, sipping coffee and watching the sunrise over the Big Horn's 80 miles to the East, and the colors glowing on the mountains behind you.

What makes this cabin unique

Enjoy complete privacy & be born free as you will be the only guest at the ranch! Peacefulness, great fishing on Wyomings last wilderness river-The Clark's Fork of The Yellowstone, hiking in the mountains with many access trails. Also hiking in the Clark Canyon-which is breathtaking. Seeing the wildlife run free, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, fresh air and awesome night skies with no city lights. I like the fact that historical figure Jeremiah Johnson used to frequent the area. There was a gunfight in the Canyon & Chief Joseph crossed through here when the cavalry was in pursuit. There is a lot of history and you can feel it.

The cabin itself is so unique with hand tooled logs right from the Rocky Mountains! The decor is all 'old west', and you really feel a wonderful 'western experience'!

The ranch is pet friendly for pets and horses too. It feels good to think that Hall of Fame Cowboy, Buck Taylor, from 'Gunsmoke', used to own the cabin. You can listen to the coyote's and wolves howl while sitting at your bonfire at night, and really feel like you are in another era. There is plenty of cut firewood at the ranch for your use.

I also send my visitor's a travel planner packet. It has brochure's of activities in the Cody, Lovell, Red Lodge & Yellowstone area. I also include maps of the area, hiking trails, and fishing spot's.

Visitor's may plan well in advance their vacation time. This has gone over well & has proved to be very helpful to vacationer's.

Amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

We took our sons and niece to see Yellowstone for my son's graduation trip. The trip was so much more than I could have ever imagined. The cabin is amazing. The feel of the cabin is like being in the old west with all the perks of modern day. My only regret is we packed our days so full that we didn't get to spend as much time at the cabin as I would have liked. We did however enjoy a great night of grilling, roasting marshmallows and stargazing. I would also like to thank Mrs. Debbie for being so great. We had never used VRBO and she made the experience absolutely painless. She is so nice and thoughtful. We received such great information from her. I wish she had homes everywhere I go. Thank you Mrs. Debbie for sharing your amazing house with us and for helping make our dream vacation an amazing experience!! The house was absolutely gorgeous!!! I hope one day to make it back that direction, and if I do , I will definitely be looking for your home again!

How the west won my heart !!

  • 5 of 5

There are really not enough words! The whole experience was INCREDIBLE! The cabin was the icing on the cake!! There is a lot of driving to from place to place BUT we were thankful to come back to the ranch. Every touch has been carefully thought through down to the well seasoned cast iron skillet...we even cooked out cowboy style on the fire-pit. We enjoyed our time fishing in the Clark Fork River and a enjoying the scenic Chief Joseph Scenic Bypass more than Yellowstone. Be sure to check out the rodeo in Cody and allow LOTS of time for the Bill Cody Museum. It was a vacation for the record book. Thank you Debbie for opening up your slice of heaven and sharing it with all of us. You have a treasure!!

Absolutely stunning!

  • 5 of 5

We (a group of three British friends) stayed just one night at Debbie's place on our way to Yellowstone. We absolutely loved it - the views are stunning and the house itself very comfortable, clean and beautifully remodelled in a "western" style which enhanced the character of the place without being tacky. Note that the third (single) bed is nestled under the eaves on the upstairs landing - it was fine for us for one night and would work well for a child but perhaps not ideal for an adult for any length of time.

The house was an easy drive from Cody but I would strongly recommend arriving in daylight - I think we could well have got lost (and/or struggled to find the key) if arriving after dark. Although it's not very far from town by American standards, for us British city-dwellers it felt very remote - which was great for one night but if you plan to stay longer do think about whether you're happy to drive for 30 minutes or so to get dinner or go to a shop. If what you want is peace, quiet and open spaces, though, this is the place for you!

Finally, do make the effort to get up and watch the sunrise - it was absolutely stunning.

Owner's Response: It was wonderful to have these guests from another country and have them experience our American West! What is great about the ranch is that is only 30 minutes to town. But, you still have the experience of being so close to the Beartooth Mountain front. I hope they enjoy the rest of their travels!

Great Cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin! It had plenty of room and everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. It was clean and looked exactly like the pics. It’s in a beautiful area but keep in mind if you’re going to Yellowstone you’ll have a 1 1/2 hour drive from the cabin. If you want solitude with great views this is the cabin for you. We had 2 deer come into the yard early one morning. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family. Thanks Debbie!
