Nestled into a beautiful setting overlooking the forest, you will find our rustic guest cottage perfect for your Carmel getaway. Moonglow is a unique oasis for those that enjoy the tranquility of the forest, yet want to be minutes away from Carmel’s beautiful white sand beach and many artistic shops and restaurants.

A gorgeous deck surrounds Moonglow with plenty of seating, a barbecue for outdoor enjoyment and a heater for cool evenings. The patio has a table and 2 chairs for outdoor dining. The private hot tub under the stars is temporarily closed for repairs.😒

For the active traveler Moonglow offers equipment for hiking, biking, tennis, golf and the beach. Walk or bike to unspoiled Hatton Canyon.

The beautiful bedroom has a double bed with a great mattress. The sleeper sofa is a queen. If you need a larger bed, Moonglow may not be the best choice for you.

Moonglow has a private bathroom with lovely tile shower, kitchenette and living room with a welcoming corner fireplace. There is also a sleeper sofa in the living room (converts to a queen bed) plus a bistro table with 2 chairs, a dresser with drawers, and a rocking chair.

The HDTV streams Netflix and other Apps seamlessly via the fast Comcast Wi-Fi.

Moonglow is smoke free. No pets, please.

Nice getaway

The space was nicely decorated. A lot of thought, care and creativity went into decorating the home. We went to the aquarium and some nice restaurants. Everything was so close. The house sits up on a hill with lush surroundings and treetop views. It was easy to stay in because there are lots of windows .It felt like we were staying in a treehouse.

A great setting and very cozy

It was private and wooded with a lovely porch. It was very cozy as well. So convenient to Carmel, Monterey, Point Lobos as well as many restaurants. I want to give special thanks to the owners of the property as they were an amazing help in resolving a small problem my friend and I were having.( NOT with the property). Recommend all around experience

Great Sister's Weekend Away

Wonderful stay in Carmel. Convenient to all activities in Carmel and Big Sur. Enjoyable accommodations for lazy mornings and low key evenings. Perfect for two people with all the necessary items to make us feel at home.

Magical cottage

Absolutely Amazing

Our stay at Moonglow was phenomenal. The location is absolutely perfect, tucked under spreading oaks at the edge of a peaceful canyon, but still just minutes from downtown Carmel. The unit was cozy but with enough room for us to spread out, both inside and outdoors. We made good use of the hot tub (very warm) as well as the heated patio right outside the unit, and the kitchen was very well-equipped. Chuck and Diane were the perfect hosts and made sure our stay was everything it possibly could be. We've already made arrangements to return next year. In a word: idyllic.

About the host

Our romance began in 1961 when Diane came to Carmel to be a 4th grade teacher at Carmel River School. She met Chuck who had just left the Navy's Blue Angels and was enrolled in the Naval Postgraduate School. In 1964 we were married and began a life together. Through the years, as a Navy family, we lived many places, but always returned to Carmel to visit our old friends and to bask in the beauty of the area. Of course, we always wished we had bought a place when we first lived here, and never really thought we would ever live in Carmel

Why they chose this property

In 2004 we fell in love with Sundance, a rustic and secluded home. We immediately bought it, sold our home in Del Mar, and became Carmelites. We love it here and have never looked back. Our family and friends enjoyed staying in the guest house, and after our son built a magnificent deck around it we christened it 'Moonglow' and decided to offer it as a vacation rental. As you can see from the guestbook, it has been very popular.
