About Don Flake
William Jordan Flake and James Clark Owens, my great grandfathers purchased the ranch that became the town of Show Low, Arizona. William J. Flake was the pioneer founder of Snowflake. We have 12 children and an ever growing number of grand children who love to come to the cabin as often as they can. We know you will love the property as much as we do.
Don Flake purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Don Flake chose Lakeside
The property is right next to beautiful open forests yet it is within two miles of the center of Lakeside and three miles of the center of Pinetop. Perfect for big groups. Mothers with sleeping babies can be in one end of the cabin while big, happy, boisterous groups can be in the other end. Mountain lakes, great hiking trails, sledding, skiing, fishing, etc. are all within minutes but with almost 4 acres you don't need to leave the property to have a fabulous time.
What makes this Cabin unique
With stables, a coral and an arena on the property, you are welcome to bring your own horses. If you prefer white mountain stables is near by and they provide great horseback riding adventures.

2019 This is my 10 year renting this place very recomend
Awesome for our large family!
We loved our stay! It fits our family perfectly and it’s so nice to find somewhere that will accommodate large families. The heater didn’t work the first night so we did freeze, but they fixed it as soon as possible the next day. Barry was available for anything we needed. A few of the dressers were in need of repair, but it didn’t affect the quality of our stay. We will be back!
I would give 3.5 stars if that was an option. Nice space.
The interior space was great. There was plenty of room for all of the family to enjoy their own space and also be together in the common areas. The cabin needs some updating, several doors would not close or lock. The exterior space was ok. I expected more open space. Overall it was fun and nice place to get away
Good For Large Groups for sure
If you need a large property that will fit multiple family’s this is a great option. 6 of the rooms have their own bathrooms and only 2 rooms share a bathroom. There are a few minor quirks... the master bedroom door does not shut and one of the rooms doorknobs only opens from the outside, my niece got stuck in the room and couldn’t get out in the middle of the night to use the restroom. With that said they were minor issues and we still enjoyed ourselves. My only complaint would be that we were charged $325 cleaning fee then I had $50 taken out of my deposit because we didn’t take out the trash in the trash can and left a pot that needed to soak in the sink.
We have a large family with some small kids and this cabin was perfect for us. Lot of room and plenty of things for the kids to do.
Absolutely stunning and perfect
The house was immacutaley clean and beautiful. It was so spacious and has everything you need. Barry the house manager was more than accommodating. He checked in with us before and after and just made sure we had everything we needed. I can’t thank him more. I will definitely recommend this place and stay here again.
