Enchanted Garden Cottage

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bath sleeps 4

This property is located in a historic West Sedona area called Grasshopper Flats, where early settlers developed apple orchards and grew squash and other vegetables. With an abundance of underground water, it's one of the greenest zones you'll find in Sedona.

Lush gardens and twenty trees surround the cottage, including a few ancient apple trees, huge mulberry's, and one very precious, very old Japanese maple. All this attracts many birds and butterflies, making this delightful place all the more enchanting. You may even spot a fairy or two. Windows all around bring nature indoors, and provide red rocks views, too.

The front porch, back decks and furnished patio provide more views, and are the perfect places for quiet contemplation, lively conversation, Dark Sky star-gazing, and more. Comfy chaise lounges on the largest back deck are adjustable to lay flat - perfect for sleeping outside under the stars if you want to.

The cottage is walking distance to boutique shops, restaurants, Over the Edge bike shop, Verde Lynx bus stop, Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, movie theatres, Starbucks, and more. Other services, major shopping hubs, the Sedona community pool, scores of art galleries, jeep-tour pick-up points, and many hiking trailheads are just 5 minutes away by car.

Birders and nature lovers, this is an exceptionally good location for you - only 5 minutes from Sedona Performing Arts Center for Sedona's annual Hummingbird Festival, 10 minutes to Red Rock State Park and only 15 minutes to two Important Bird Areas that attract over 200 bird species. The main hub for Sedona birding information, Jay's Bird Barn, is only a few minutes by car or bike.

If you're coming to Sedona for mountain biking, the cottage is a fantastic home-base for you, too. There are many trails you can easily ride to (5-10 minutes on the pavement to trailheads such as the Airport and Adobe Jack, and even more within a short distance by car). The cottage is only a 10 minute walk to Over the Edge bike shop, where you can rent bikes and other equipment, and get trail advice from the very helpful staff. Need to wash all that red dirt off your bike or do repairs? No problem. There's a hose and work space for you in the backyard.

A special bonus - the drinking water at this property is provided by deep wells that tap into pristine aquifers below. A private water company services this small section of Sedona - no chlorine or fluoride added - just wonderfully clean and tasty water. .

About Michele Fitzgerald

I started visiting Sedona over 30 years ago for spiritual activities, my love of nature, and to explore nearby archaeological sites. My heart was captured on my first visit and I decided then that I would eventually move to the area--which I did in 1992. At the time of my move I owned a sales training company in the San Francisco Bay Area. I commuted to the Bay Area from Sedona for over 10 years. Eventually, I made a transition to the work I do today (in and from Sedona), which is helping people learn how to make practical use of their intuitive skills.

I love Sedona and enjoy sharing my knowledge of the area with others. I am happy to help with suggestions on things to do in the area while you are here, whether your interests relate to the spiritual/metaphysical aspects of Sedona, holistic healing services, the art community, hiking/nature, best restaurants (I'm a life-long foodie), and more.

Michele Fitzgerald purchased this cottage in 1992

Why Michele Fitzgerald chose West Sedona

I bought the property because of the trees. It's a little oasis in the desert.

What makes this cottage unique

The unique benefits of this property are its gardens and very green surroundings. This setting attracts many birds and butterflies, including orioles, cardinals, hawks and owls. Another unique feature is the fully furnished patio. This sizable outdoor space (400 sq. feet) hosts a wood burning fireplace and is an ideal place to experience the birds, the stars, romantic dinners, quiet meditation, or a glass of local wine and a good book. There are also two decks that open to the backyard - a wonderful spot to watch the sunsets or take an afternoon nap. Finally, the location is perfect. The property is nicely tucked away from the tourist hustle and bustle, yet it is still within easy reach of everything Sedona has to offer. Walk to natural food stores, coffee shops, movie theatres, thrift shops, art galleries, and boutique shops. Hop into your car and with a 3-4 minute drive, you have access to scores of additional restaurants, the main tourist hub, more art galleries, local parks, the Sedona community pool, day spas, and more.

If this cottage is available for your travel dates don't wait - book it immediately!! The cottage is charming, comfortable, and roomy. You will find everything you need in the kitchen. Michele greeted us like old friends. There are hiking books to help you decide which trails to try out, and hiking sticks, coolers, and backpacks for day trips. The patio and outside fireplace are delightful! We enjoyed sitting there every evening. There is no tv, but lots of dvds and cds to use - and books!! It so peaceful that we hated to leave. Thanks for everything Michel! We will be back and have already recommended your cottage to others.

Amazing and relaxing getaway cottage

  • 5 of 5

this cottage went beyond our expectations! the beautiful decorating and outside lush gardens were gorgeous. Michelle (our host) was there to greet us even though we ran much later than planned with fruite and flowers waiting on the tables. The interior is tasteful and spacious. The outside Pergola and fireplace are breathtaking at night under the stars. Walks thru the garden in the morning with coffee in hand, sitting on the front porch reading and gathering in the comfy living room with a movie at night made our vacation stay complete. There is a grill available and all the kitchen items we needed were on hand, along with soaps and paper items that were already stocked. Thank you to our hostess Michelle and if you miss out on renting this beautiful jewel of a cottage it will be your loss!

Return trip to the cottage

  • 4 of 5

This was our 2nd stay at the cottage and it remains very quiet and comfortable. The yard is heavily landscaped with a lovely outdoor patio and fireplace, very private and lots of bird activity. The home is a nice size for two people and has lots of windows and natural light. The Owner is very welcoming, accessible and responsive to any needs. The location is excellent - right off 89A but far enough off the road such that the home stays very quiet. We like the West Sedona location alot - very close to restaurants, grocery stores and trail heads. We would definitely rent this home again.

There were maps of local hiking trails, tourist information, a fruit bowl, coffee, fresh flowers, and the basic spices and cooking needs in the kitchen cupboards, back packs and hiking sticks, yoga mat, lots of books, no tv reception but many cd's and dvd's to watch. Computer internet connection. Washer and dryer. Outdoor living room with propane bbq and fireplace. Patio and yard very beautifully decorated with vortexes and crystals. Loved it!!!

Enchanting Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The balance between the beauty of the lush and expansive outdoor space and the comfortably appointed indoor space of the Willow Way cottage makes this a perfect destination for a week of exploring all that Sedona has to offer. Tucked away on the west side of Sedona 3 minutes from Safeway and 1 minute from Whole Foods it's sense of seclusion makes you feel like you are miles away from civilization. It's tranquility and charm starts as you walk underneath the flower and ivy laden arch to the front door, as if you are entering into a paradise not seen before within the beautiful surrounds of the red rocks. Within, the space is perfectly arranged for you to relax and enjoy the beauty of the nature that surrounds the property. Michelle has the kitchen perfectly equipped with everything that one would need to "move in", and, you will want to after visiting this quaint home. Waking up each morning after the most comfortable night sleep on the king sized mattress topper, the outdoor garden has a perfect spot for a little sunshine, a little shade and a perfect cup of French Pressed coffee. As the sun shines through the shade of the garden, the mountains peak through in the distance reminding you of the tranquility and diversity of nature all around you. At night, the pergola and charming fireplace help you snuggle up and take in the brilliantly clear Sedona star lit sky.

Michelle does a wonderful job of communicating and accommodating all of your traveling needs and makes this cottage the perfect retreat to relax and heal from the stresses of everyday life.

I dreamed of leaving the dark rainy cold of the Pacific Northwest to be in a place where I would wake up to warmth and sunshine. I wanted the soft songs of birds summoning in the morning and an outdoor area surrounded by flowers with a beam of warm sun 'just so' in order to enjoy morning coffee. I found it all here at Michele's lovely little cottage in Sedona. Quiet, peaceful, surrounded by graceful flowers and visited by a myriad of song birds, it was absolutely perfect. It was my first trip to Sedona and I was blown away by the beauty.

Michele herself is charming and helpful, vivacious and fun. It was a pleasure meeting her and staying in her home. The charming hostess that she is, she allowed my husband and I to have friends and family over, where we hosted a few dinners and made some nice memories. Thank you Michele!
