A beautiful CHALET LAKE HOME awaits your visit to the Brainerd Lakes Area. It is situated near Aitkin, MN on Sullivan Lake just over 2 hours North of the Twin Cities. The ski chalet-style home has over 1,900 finished square feet on three levels, a 22' vaulted ceiling of knotty pine, and three stories of windows overlooking the large deck and lake. Our lake home retreat is unlike any other…on PRIVATE land with no campers, neighbors, or noise to invade your precious vacation.

The home sleeps a maximum of 11 in beds with 2 private bedrooms and a dormitory-style loft. With the amenities of home-- a washer and dryer, bedding and towels, a kitchen fully stocked with cookware and dishes, a microwave and 2 TV’s and Blue Ray players.

This 100 acre private lake has no public access and is deep with up to 42' of water and 2 miles of natural shoreline. Fishing is great entertainment for “big and little” kids alike……primarily pan fish with bass and northern pike. INCLUDED AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE ARE: A 20' PONTOON BOAT (including gas), a 14' FISHING BOAT with electric trolling motor and 2 KAYAKS for hours of enjoyment on the water. Remember to pack your favorite lures and poles, and don’t forget your beach towels! Life vests are provided. While there is no sandy beach, a wonderful public, sandy swimming beach is a short drive away on Pelican Lake with clear, shallow water for blocks out into the lake. We do have a swimming platform anchored in 25' of water out from the dock.

Yard games include bocce ball, ladder golf, horseshoes and a small swimming pool for toddlers. There are board games and 2 Blue Ray players for rainy days. enjoy the surrounding woods and yard, bask in the sun or read on the large deck overlooking the lake, relax on the dock bench, or sun and swim from the 8'X8' swimming platform in 25' of water. Golf at one of the many courses around, or spend an evening at the Casino just 30 minutes away. Shopping, restaurants and other recreation are close by in the Brainerd Lakes Area. A Weber grill will cook whatever you wish, but remember your charcoal and fluid! An evening campfire at the lakeside fire pit is a must.

Enjoy some of the best winter sports our lake home has to offer. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing are all popular with many trails in the area. Fall is also a great time to visit us with still warm days and crisp autumn nights. Minnesota's fall colors are second to none.

Whatever the season, you will have a vacation your family will remember for years to come.

About Marilyn Paquette

I very much enjoy my lakehome but as a business owner I am busy and use it very little. Instead of leaving it vacant most of the time I wanted to make it available to you to have an alternative to the mundane 'same old thing' resort style vacation. Stay at my home year round as I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

Thank You,

Marilyn Paquette purchased this chalet in 1996

Why Marilyn Paquette chose Aitkin

My father purchased the land in 1956. He was enamored by the property's beauty, the tremendous fishing, and the privacy. In 1996 I tore down the old cabin and built the three level Ski Chalet-Style Lake Home with an open loft to facilitate the 'togetherness' that a 'cabin' is supposed to convey. Since I am so busy with work and I use the place only a couple weeks per year, I decided to share it with you!

What makes this chalet unique

I enjoy all aspects of the place including peace and quiet, all the wildlife in the woods surrounding the house, great fishing, swimming, the large deck overlooking the lake, all of it. It's also the rarity to have such a large private lot on such a nice lake with no neighbors. It makes me glad I purchased those additional lots adjacent to the property. To me, there is no replacement for seclusion and privacy and this place really delivers.

Guestbook comments from the manager

“I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciated our stay at Sullivan Lake. From the minute we walked in the door we felt at home. It was so peaceful and so relaxing. This is something I have wanted to do for years, and we picked the perfect place. We talked about doing this again next summer. Personally I could pack my bags and just move in! The owners are very fortunate.”

Perfect getaway for quality family time.

  • 5 of 5

All the amenities of home in a relaxing, remote destination. We enjoyed peaceful mornings on the deck or on the water and great family fun around the fire at night. Inside and out, it was very comfortable for our family of 12 (including two toddlers and two babies). Great fishing and canoeing on a very quiet lake! Highly recommended for anyone seeking a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Home was exactly as represented. Tastefully appointed. Bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the use of the pontoon boat. Very running down the road to the grocery store.

Best Family Vacation Ever

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this vacation. The house was very clean and comfortable. We felt it was very spacious and gave us lots of room to spread out. The family enjoyed the pontoon, fishing, and kayaks. We saw lots of wildlife and enjoyed the seclusion of the woods. We appreciated all of the yard games, and other little extras that were found in the house. We would love to go back! Highly recommend this to anyone.

Awesome is what our granddaughter said about her 1st visit. We've felt that way since we found your oasis in the Woods years ago.Anxoious for our family gathering in early June this year.Having fished the lake we know where to find the 12" crappie,& fat sunny's.Trolling fast is how you catch the Lunker Pike...Thanks for the Tip David!

The toddlers enjoyed the pools, pontoon, fishing and the "Dance of the Loons".Grillin' & Chillin' for the young adults, while grandma & I enjoyed the sunrising/setting on the lake & peacefull walks in the woods.

Looking forward to our week in June with hopes of a fall color retun trip as well. Thanks again for the past memories and future family fun shared on the water,& in the woods next time.Peace

First Class All the Way!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our week's stay here. The cabin, lake, and amenities were excellent across the board. The cabin itself was very spacious and clean and comfortable. The kids loved the lake, the dock and the pontoon boat. Fishing was excellent as we caught all the crappies and sunfish we wanted, with an occasional bass and northern, too.
