About Stephen Lutz

Stephen & Beth have lived in Asheville since 1982 so we know the area well. We have four grown children, love to travel, but also love to keep exploring our home town. We enjoy meeting new people and our guests.

Stephen Lutz purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Stephen Lutz chose Asheville

If you want to be close to downtown and the Biltmore Estate but don't want the hassle of a parking deck, our location is about as good as it gets.

What makes this apartment unique

A lot of love went into the building of Craftsman Cottage, from the beautiful custom woodwork to the deck overlooking the garden. We love it when guests take time to explore the grounds of our 1914 era Craftsman home.

Beautiful Place to Stay--Great Location

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay for our trip to Asheville. We love Craftsman architecture, and were delighted at the great attention to craftsman detail and design. Really nice.

The location was perfect too. Kenilworth is a beautiful, quiet neighborhood full of gorgeous old craftsman homes/mansions, but it is just down the hill to the Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville, where most of our weekend was spent.

The owners, who live next door, are fun people with great ideas for restaurants and things to do. Tupelo Honey is a great place to eat that they told us about. They had a complimentary bottle of wine waiting on us when we arrived, which we enjoyed on the deck of the cottage, which is particularly lovely. It has vines with blooming roses growing along the rail of the deck with little lights interspersed, which makes it look and smell wonderful at night. This was a great place to stay, and we can’t wait to go back!

A perfect " Home Base" for visiting Asheville

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I stayed at the Craftsman Cottage for 2 nights... and we " ooohed and aaahhhed" the whole time we were there! Unique, welcoming, and positively beautiful, this arts and crafts style apartment is a great find if you're staying in the area. Be sure to make use of their great deck, check out the garden trail, and enjoy the awesome selection of books available. This place is FUN!

We were very comfortable in this beautiful cottage and definitely would go back again. Only suggestion would be to replace the toaster 😊

The place is very nice with all the beautiful woodwork, it was a pleasure to stay there!

Great little place

  • 5 of 5

This place was so adorable!! Close to both the Biltmore and downtown AND allowed my doggie. Can't beat that. The grounds were picturesque and the space was very comfortable. Bottle if complimentary wine was definitely a bonus. Check in/out was a breeze. I'm already looking at the calendar to see when we might be able to visit again.
