Beautiful Place to Stay--Great Location

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay for our trip to Asheville. We love Craftsman architecture, and were delighted at the great attention to craftsman detail and design. Really nice.

The location was perfect too. Kenilworth is a beautiful, quiet neighborhood full of gorgeous old craftsman homes/mansions, but it is just down the hill to the Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville, where most of our weekend was spent.

The owners, who live next door, are fun people with great ideas for restaurants and things to do. Tupelo Honey is a great place to eat that they told us about. They had a complimentary bottle of wine waiting on us when we arrived, which we enjoyed on the deck of the cottage, which is particularly lovely. It has vines with blooming roses growing along the rail of the deck with little lights interspersed, which makes it look and smell wonderful at night. This was a great place to stay, and we can’t wait to go back!

Perfect Pad

  • 5 of 5

This place is in a super quiet neighborhood, has a huge bed and lets in just enough light at night time to be really soothing. If you don't like the sound of wind chimes - you might wanna ask about that before you stay here. It's got a relaxing gas fireplace area that's perfect for a cozy night - especially when it's cold outside. It's very close to everything, so you can't go wrong with this place. Asheville is a lovely town and we're looking forward to coming back again - would definitely recommend.

Craftsman cottage

  • 5 of 5

A charming cottage so close to the Biltmore Estate. Had a homey atmosphere. We stayed the week before Christmas and there was even a small tree set up for the holidays. Only downside was there was not a stove to cook breakfast with. Otherwise it was a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

Great getaway close to downtown Asheville

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. We recommend it to any couple looking for a nice play to stay while they enjoy Asheville. Stephen and his wife were excellent hosts who were there when we needed them.

Quaint & comfy private space in a gorgeous area close to downtown & Biltmore

  • 5 of 5

This quaint and comfy cottage was the highlight of our first trip as a couple. We immediately felt right at home — the fire was even put on for us. As others have said here, the king bed is super comfortable. A second half bath is a nice touch for getting ready. Ladies, shaving your legs will be a little tough, but that’s the only drawback I could find in this cottage.

The home is located in a very cute neighborhood near the top of a mountain that’s only a half mile to Biscuithead, a mile or so to Wicked Weed Brewery, and a couple miles to downtown or the Biltmore House.

Thank you for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful home!

About Stephen Lutz

Stephen & Beth have lived in Asheville since 1982 so we know the area well. We have four grown children, love to travel, but also love to keep exploring our home town. We enjoy meeting new people and our guests.

Stephen Lutz purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Stephen Lutz chose Kenilworth

If you want to be close to downtown and the Biltmore Estate but don't want the hassle of a parking deck, our location is about as good as it gets.

What makes this apartment unique

A lot of love went into the building of Craftsman Cottage, from the beautiful custom woodwork to the deck overlooking the garden. We love it when guests take time to explore the grounds of our 1914 era Craftsman home.
