About The Garlands
We have lived in Southern California our entire lives, raising our two sons in San Diego. We love spending our vacations in Hawaii and other tropical locations.
The Garlands purchased this Condo in 2008
Why The Garlands chose Poipu
We started bringing our boys to the Kiahuna Plantation when they were young. It was such an easy place to vacation with kids that we just kept going back. We finally decided to buy a condo so that we could spend more time on our favorite Hawaiian island!
What makes this Condo unique

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Kauai. We loved this location and the amenities of this condo. Kiahuna Beach is about a 3 minute walk and was the perfect spot to relax in the sand, boogey board, or surf.
Simple and very nice
Nice Condo in Poipu
Nice condo in the Kiahuna Plantation. Easy access from the parking lot with a nice view from the upper deck. Our family greatly enjoyed this condo and the amenities at the Kiahuna. Only complaint is that we paid for a mid-week room cleaning but they never came. It took two calls over two days just to get clean towels, and they still billed us for the cleaning. This not the condo owners fault, but rather a lack of service with the Outrigger staff. Don’t let that deter you. Great condo and a great location.
40th birthday celebration
We loved our visit to Hawaii. This property is owned/managed by Outrigger in addition to the family who owns it, so they are more strict about kitchen things. There was no saran wrap, tupperware storage containers and only metal tongs for the grill. If you are planning on cooking, really bring spices and a few food storage things.
So glad you had a good vacation! Due to liability issues, housekeeping removes all food/drinks between guests, including spices and cooking items. There is a set of covered bowls for storage, and I do leave plastic wrap, foil, containers, etc, but I am only there a few times each year, so unfortunately other guests do not always leave those items. There is a mini-mart across the street that sells everything in travel quantities if you need anything. Hope you can go back to Kauai again soon!
This is our second time staying at Plantation Gardens, and both times we stayed in units owned by the Garlands. Both the Garlands and the staff made everything super simple and stress free. The units that we stayed in both years were both immaculate and very tastefully decorated and very well stocked with everything. The grounds are magical - tropical everything everywhere, exploding with color, koi ponds, vintage plantation bar and restaurant, rolling green lawns and a fabulous beach a stone's throw away! It is it's own little paradise, but also super close to a number of fun destinations like the botanical gardens, blowhole, historic Koloa town, Waimea Canyon, Gaylords old sugar plantation (go there for an amazing dinner) etc., etc. For all of us. this has become our Happy Place!!!!!
The property was a great landing spot for our family each day after exploring all of the wonderful things to do on the island. It also had everything we needed to feel right. We truly enjoyed it!
Pool, Golf and Tennis - 4 tennis courts, 4 half basketball courts, pickleball and shuffleboard courts. Kiahuna Golf course across the street. Poipu Bay golf course (2 miles east) near the Hyatt and Kauai Lagoons (in Lihue) are beautiful. After 4pm at Poipu Bay, you can play for $10 with a child (age 6-17) who plays free - you must have your own clubs and walk (amazing deal since green fees are $120-$185).
The Kukuiolono public course (6 miles west) is $7-9 and great for kids. The Wailua course is inexpensive and good. The Princeville and Kauai Lagoons courses are outstanding.
