About Evan Tucker

Originally from Chicago, summers in Southwest Michigan has been a family tradition for four generations. Though we have enjoyed traveling the world, South Haven is the place to which my wife and I will always return. To visit once is to know why. It is my pleasure to invite you!

Evan Tucker purchased this house in 2006

Why Evan Tucker chose Southwest Michigan

Welcome and thank you for your interest in my house for your family's vacation. Having enjoyed regular summer visits to the shores of South West Michigan as a child, buying a house here ten years ago was an easy decision. It is my goal to offer you the same quality experience I was looking for when I purchased it, spent several years renovating it and that my wife and I enjoy when we visit South Haven ourselves. This house offers the perfect blend of town and country near the lake and beach. The location is ideal. The feeling one gets when arriving is hard to put into words other than to say that it is a mix of profound gratification, relaxation and relief all at the same time. Simply put, it is a wonderful spot on the Earth. I think that you will agree.

Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with family at the end of July 2016. This house had what we needed for our week-long stay. The living room had plenty of couch space to lounge on while watching TV or movies, and the table was the perfect size for puzzles and game nights. The park for beach access wasn't too far, and it was a nice little walk to get down to the beach from the parking lot. We tried to find the lake through the woods, but that adventure didn't turn out so well; skip exploring, just go a mile down the road.

Evan was easy to get a hold of and communicate with. There were slight internet issues when we arrived, but Evan was great to work with to figure out the issues we were having.

My only complaint would be the kitchen. While it has drawers full of what you'd need for cooking, measuring spoons and a complete set of measuring cups were nowhere to be found. It may seem like a silly complaint, but making pancakes on our first morning was a little more challenging when I had to rely on using literal teaspoons to measure.

Also, there is only A/C in two of the bedrooms. But there are ceiling and floor fans that can be used to help circulate the cool air around on extra warm days.

Easy access to many attractions

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Evan's home. It is clean and the beds are super comfy. The nature preserve beach is really cool, but there is another just a bit past Glenn that is neat too. South Haven is a short drive, with shops, restaurants and more beaches. We stopped at blueberry picking up the road, which was great!! Evan was quick to sort out any issue, and very reachable by text at all times. Thank you for a great vacation! My boys, hubby and I had a blast!

Just what we expected, perfect for our vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this house. The house was just what we expected, it was the perfect size for our family (2 adults, 4 kids). Our kids loved playing outside, even out back which is dense woods and pretty steep. But they loved it.

We didn't get a chance to use the fire pit but it is in a little clearing in the woods which is nice. It took us about 10 minutes to get to the edge of South Haven, and the nearby Nature preserve was a really enjoyable and fairly empty beach.

I would highly recommend. The owner was very reachable and worked with us a lot on what we needed.

Great family spot!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house for the month of July 2015 and it served as the perfect home base for a wonderful summer holiday. While not directly on the water, and this is a blessing with small children, it is conveniently situated between two very nearby, clean, public beaches that will spare you the crowds of South Haven and Saugatuck. That being said, wonderful shopping and gourmet opportunities in those hamlets are only 10-15 minutes away. These cover a range from boutique to local flavor, as well as a quality representation of Michigan's micro-brewing culture. It is really a great spot from which to take day-trips exploring the Lake Michigan coastline. The house itself is well-furnished for a family of four and visitors and quite cozy. There is a very large, well-kept front lawn for the kids to play on and a really unique spot for a fire pit. It worked very well for our family and the owner was very accessible to answer any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this listing to anyone looking for a Lake Michigan experience.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our family! It was very clean and had everything we needed. We went to the beautiful nature preserve beach 1 minute down the road. We never saw anyone else on the beach all week. Also the location right between South Haven and Saugatuck gave us a lot of convenient dinner and entertainment options. The owner is so nice and very good with prompt communication. By the time our trip rolled around I felt as if we were staying at a friend's. We are already looking forward to next year's stay.

Very clean home in a beautiful wooded setting.

  • 5 of 5

This home offered everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation. The living room had plenty of comfortable seating and the large dining room table was perfect for meals and playing games. The washer and dryer was handy after a day at the beach. There are several nice beaches nearby. We also enjoyed shopping in South Haven, playing putt putt, visiting local wineries, the Farmer's Market, and blueberry picking. These activities are all within a few miles of this home. Evan was very easy to work with and responds very quickly to any questions or concerns. I highly recommend renting this home!
