Relax during your stay in Austin at the Dandelion Muse Guest House, a quiet ranch house on a shaded lot in laid-back South Austin. A nice place to getaway but still be close to it all. Enjoy the tall oak, elm, and pecan trees, a large wooden deck and herb garden in back as well as your own peaceful egg-shaped swimming pool.
Quaint, clean, peaceful, and fully furnished - great for good sleep and enjoyment. Hardwood floors throughout, berber in the bedrooms. There is a queen all-latex bed in the main bedroom, truly a treat with all-cotton, high thread count sheets. The other bedrooms have high-quality mattresses (one standard, the other extra-thick, wool-wrapped futon), and all guests are provided with high-quality, all-cotton linens. The house is cleaned using environmentally responsible products. Nicely equipped kitchen. Washer/dryer in the house. Chickering upright piano. High-speed wireless internet (6 Mbps) and free Netflix streaming movies with a Roku box.
I went to school at University of Texas and lived in Austin for more than 20 years. Austin has always been a fun, creative place from being a sleepy college town to the trendsetter city it is now.
Eleu Ellinger purchased this house in 2004
This place will always be special to me. I lived here for five years and it felt nurturing to me the first day I set foot in it. I hope you have a wonderful time staying here, and may it provide you with happy times and joyful contemplation.
The pool in the backyard is such fun in the summertime. Austin's summers are long and hot, so there's plenty of opportunities to swim. When it's cooler, it's still very relaxing to hang out on the deck just about year round and look up at the trees and sky, day or night.
I keep the furnishings simple to make things comfortable, and the bonus is that this simplicity makes it possible for a differently abled person to be able to get around in a wheelchair. So if you have special needs in this way, please keep this house in mind.
The pictures are accurate for what the home looks like! The size of the home was perfect for 8girls! The pool was the highlight of the home, and exactly what the bride to be requested of us when picking a home. The pool was a little dirty when we arrived, but that is to be expected when you have a bunch of trees. We were able to get the dolphin running and cleaned up in no time! The communication with what was expected of us was great and she was ready to help and provide anything needed. The only issue we had was with the kitchen sink, it was clogged when we got there and we pulled a little out but still had some trouble through the weekend. Thankfully, we did not need the kitchen sink all that much so it was not a huge crisis! We would definitely stay at this home again!
I stayed at this house with two of my best friends for 3 days in May 2016.
It was our reunion after not seeing each other for 7 years so we all needed our space and the house had plenty of that to offer. We felt very comfortable and slept very good.
The house is located in a very quite neighbourhood and within easy reach to down-town (South Congress Avenue) where we spent most of our time during the day.
The owner is very responsive and replied to my email inquiries very promptly.
I would definitely recommend this house to anyone who wants to enjoy a peaceful time by the pool after a long day in action-packed down-town.
Our goal was to have a place to stay where several out of town relatives could stay together
and this home accomplished this for us. It was clean and comfortable. We were attending and celebrating
a wedding so we weren't there much except to sleep but we were all pleased with the accommodations.
Eleu was an excellent host, and we loved staying here! It's spacious but also very homey. Comfortable and sweet with a great backyard. It was too cold to use the pool, but would love to come back for that in the summer. Great quiet neighborhood in a convenient part of town.
Eight members from myy family of 20, 50, and 60-somethings convened here from four cities for Christmas.
It was cozy enough as a home base as we explored Austin; hiking, browsing, eating bbq, and other activities.
It was a nice neighborhood for walking in, too.
This is not in a central location to major activities, but it doesn't take long to get anywhere by car
Plenty of hot water for all our showers!
Reasonably priced for what we got
My only quibbles are
1) It would have been more cozy and comfortable with an additional couch in the living room
2) The kitchen could be better stocked with cooking and eating utensils.
Zip up to downtown in about 10 minutes, UT in 15. Or take the scenic route and drive up South Lamar, South First, or South Congress as you enjoy creative local businesses and classic Austin restaurants and music clubs, such as the Broken Spoke, Saxon Pub, and the SOCO shopping district. South 1st is also a great drive, featuring Jovita's and several trailer gourmet sites. If you would like to commute, the Capitol Metro bus, with a bus stop just a block away, can take you to the ACL Music Festival or a little further into downtown Austin.
Sprouts, an organics-oriented grocery store, is in short walking distance. Five minutes driving will take you to the Westgate Mall, where you can shop at a world class gourmet grocery called Central Market, as well as an 11-theater cinema, local favorite Amy's Ice Cream and some nice restaurants, including Hyde Park Bar and Grill, Madam Mam's Thai Cuisine, and Asian-oriented Buffet Palace.
Just 20 minutes to the Airport or Hill Country.
