About the property

The Bluemoon is situated at the end of a long white-sand beach, directly on a small private cove called 'Rose Cove by the locals because of the natural beauty of the location. A few steps are all that separate you from the brilliant blue Caribbean waters. The large elevated sundeck provides spectacular views of the South Palmetto Point beach and sunsets over Pineapple Cays just a short distance offshore. We have just added two kayaks for your enjoyment!

This spacious home can sleep 11 people in four bedrooms.4#(Pink Sands) master bedroom has a king bed, a private bathroom and a view of the ocean.1#(The Reef) has three very comfortable single beds 2#) (Sea Shells) Has two full beds and a bunk 3# ( Sea Glass) Has a queen and , a single. .Each room is individually air conditioned for your comfort. The living room and kitchen area are open and fresh with lots of windows and views of the water across the deck. Shade from the tropical rays is plentiful in the Bahamas room, which is screened in and connects the sundeck to the rest of the house.

The Bluemoon is the ideal location to soak in the tranquil sea or have a sunset cocktail on the deck or our small private beach. Our favorite restaurants are near by ...Unique Village for the best cracked conch on the island, everyone likes the French Leave restaurant 1684 , my personal favorite for lunch is da Perk coffee shop in Governers Harbour! Runaway Bay Marina is a short walk from the house.

Our caretaker, Mr. Aurthur Nixon can meet you at Governers Harbour Airport, handle any questions you may have during your stay and can also arrange rental cars or Taxis. Please give us a call , text or email we enjoying sharing and would be happy to fill you in on all that Bluemoon and Eleuthera has to offer.

About Howard Mills

Bluemoon is owned by the Mills brothers and their wives. Jeff and Ulrika Mills live in California, Phoebe and Howard Mills live on the coast of South Carolina. We purchased the home from the original owner Ross Rogers , Mr. Rogers is an Architect from Canada and he built the home in the 1970s for his family. He and his family enjoyed many wonderful years on Eluthera. Mr.Rogers was an avid gardener, hence the beautiful tropical gardens!

Howard Mills purchased this house in 2003

Why Howard Mills chose South Palmetto Point

Look no further, if you are looking for peace and tranquility in a tropical island setting! This house is perfect for a large family, the floor plan is layed out like the letter L with the long part of the L being a row of bedrooms each with a sliding glass door that opens up to the amazing blue carribean ocean view. The shorter part of the L being the kitchen , dining, living room area and the middle of the L is the decking ,looking out over the turquoise carribean ocean! This house was designed and built by the original owner and Architect Ross Rogers.

What makes this house unique

property can accommodate larger groups and is perfect for multiple families because of the layout you never feel crowded. Also a great house for retreats.

We loved our stay at Blue Moon! We had 3 couples and one young child. And there was still an empty room. The house is spacious and great for large groups and families with kids. The kitchen, living, and dining area are all connected so there is plenty of room for everyone to hang out together or separately. There is also a large screened in porch area with a porch swing as well as a large deck with close up views of the bright blue Caribbean! The landscaping is beautiful and created total seclusion so that you can not see your neighbors at all. Make sure to check out the little stone paths that wind through the garden around all the amazing flowering tropical plants. The property has its own private steps right into a secluded cove! THE SNORKELING IS AMAZING right off the steps! You can also go fishing or kayaking right out of the backyard, and there is a fish cleaning station by the water, (and a grill on the deck). The back yard has a beachy sandy area with a giant old sea grape tree for shade. Great for laying out and for kids to play in the sand. There are also child friendly beaches nearby and they are all different: some are in bays shallow with no waves, others have waves for surfing, others have amazing reefs for snorkeling. All will be the most beautiful most secluded beach you have ever been to! The kitchen was well stocked and there are plenty of sheets, bath and beach towels, and washer and dryer. You will need to bring your own soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. There are 2 full bathrooms with showers (one very nice newly renovated!) and one "men's room" with just a toilet. The house is just right, clean and well decorated, but not too fancy so that you don't have to worry about your sandy feet. It is very relaxed and you will not want to leave! Definitely rent a car (a jeep or 4-wheel drive if you really want to explore the island). The locals are very friendly and helpful and it is impossible to get lost. There is a little town with a bank, grocery store, liquor store, and gas station near by. There are also lots of nice little restaurants all over and an organic farm with fresh veggies. Fresh catch of the day at the docks! The island will satisfy a group of people with all different interests: Nature, historic arcitecture, fishing, eating, swimming, and relaxing. The price was amazing especially split among a group. The kitchen and dining area are well suited for people who enjoy cooking. We will be back to Blue Moon for sure!

Spent two weeks here. On island caretaker was super responsive and easy to contact if needed (which was rarely). Owner great to communicate with before arrival regarding set-up of property and what was on-site. However, the best thing was how well this property accommodated our group of 10 with awesome group areas, yet enough space for all to get some quiet down time when needed. Ocean front location, central on the island, big deck for morning coffee with a view, spot for the hammock ! Safe cove for the kids to swim and snorkel in (dependent on wind direction and tides). Kitchen has everything that was needed for large group meals and food storage. Things were clean and bright when we arrived. Loved the fresh flower touches. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Will likely be back as soon as humanly possible.

Private vacation paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Blue Moon! The photos of the house do not do it justice. The owners (howard) were extremely helpful and answered any questions we had promptly to make our stay the best possible experience.

Our kids loved just hanging at the house; snorkeling, kayaking or just floating around. Parents loved kayaking, sipping cocktails on the back deck area watching the sun set, and relaxing.

There were only 4 of us and it was way more room than we needed, but that made our stay even more pleasant because we could spread out.

We did encounter 2 slight issues at no fault of the owner. There is a neighborhood dog that steals flip flops so don’t leave your shoes outside! My daughter and husband both lost one shoe each. Also, there was a bee hive on the property so we had to be carful since my daughter was stung the first day. Depending on the winds, Eleuthera can get buggy (which we knew and were prepared for) so pack your “off” spray!

Other than that, everything was amazing. We cooked almost every night and the house had every kitchen appliance needed. We were even able to enjoy the olympics at night on tv and the kids so appreciated the WiFi!

This was our 3rd trip to Eleuthera - first time with both kids- and first stay at Blue Moon. Blue Moon was the perfect spot to introduce our kids to the unspoiled natural beauty of the Caribbean and to really unwind.

Thanks Blue Moon for hosting a great trip!

Simply wonderful!

Bluemoon was the perfect location for our family holiday.

The house is spacious, bright, lovingly decorated and with many details we loved to discover.

The kitchen is equipped very well, making home cooking fun. We enjoyed buying fresh ingredientes while out and about on the island or at the nearby Island Farm and preparing it at "home". Plenty of storage canisters were so handy in order to safely store our food.

There is a big dinner table for your meals which is also great for playing board or card games in the evening - wonderful family time.

We did not try the TV set at all but the stereo worked great, we loved that you could play music either in the whole living area or just in the "Bahamas Room" or the living room. The owner's music collection was very much suited to my taste but you can also easily connect your own mobile devices which pleased our teenagers. They also appreciated having a stable and good WiFi connection when they needed it.

The big sundeck offers fantastic views, the private beach invites those who like to sunbathe and the kayaks allow for hours of fun exploring Rose Cove and the bays beyond.

Swimming, snorkeling or simply playing in the water right in front of the houses is priceless.

Sea life around the house is fascinating, we had daily morning visits by southern sting rays, saw, amongst many, many others, tiny sharks, trunk fish, trumpet fish, and countless other reef dwellers.

Dolphins pass through the bay regularly, which we did not expect at all. We saw them from the sundeck and also when kayaking. We highly recommend bringing binoculars.

The house is located in the centre of Eleuthera which is convenient when exploring the island. The Atlantic Ocean with its long stretched beaches (e.g. Double Bay, Poponi and French Leave beaches) and waves can be reached with short drives if you want a change from the Caribbean.

Communication with Howard was very good, he was always helpful and reliable. We appreciate he offered early check in and also offered us to stay an additional day when the flight we had initially booked was cancelled and we arrived a day later. Thank you so much! We would have loved to stay longer!

Having stayed in other houses on Eleuthera this was clearly my favourite. Bluemoon had all we could wish for in order to spend a happy, exciting and relaxing family holiday - which we hope to repeat.
