About this property

Welcome to my renovated oceanfront studio condo, located between Kaanapali and Kapalua and the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean. This lovely oceanfront unit has crown moulding, TV, Beauty Rest bed, free wi-fi and more. The fully equipped kitchen is complete with appliances, a microwave, cookware, dishes and utensils. Linens and towels (as well as beach towels) are also provided. Central air and a ceiling fan will keep you comfortable throughout the day and night.

The crown jewel of the Royal Kahana (besides my unit, of course) is the large heated pool and spacious sundeck with plenty of lounge chairs on which to enjoy the view, a good book, a leisurely nap or seasonal whale watching.

There are four gas-fired barbeque grills at the pool area, and a poolside Cabana providing a dining area with unmatched ocean views. The Activity Desk in the lobby can assist you with reservations for a luau, sight seeing helicopter tour, boating activities, restaurants and much more. Internet access and conference rooms are also in the Lobby. HI Reg #W01236762-01

The Royal Kahana Resort charges $18.00 per night parking fee.

The town of Lahaina was destroyed by fire in August 2023 and it will take many months to recover. The area is currently inaccessible. This is a heartbreaking time for Maui ohana and words cannot express their sadness and loss. Rebuilding will happen but it will take time. Updates can be found at https://www.mauicounty.gov.

Beautiful hotel - excellent location

A slightly overdue review but just wanted to say thank you Karla for a seamless booking service and a wonderful hotel for my stay in Maui. I was a little scared booking a private rental (as opposed to using a big hotel booking website) but you made the process easy. The room was clean and exactly how the picture depicts - there are no bad surprises. I took the advice of some other reviewers and left the doors open (but closed screen doors) at night while sleeping - the waves made for a beautiful sleep. It was so relaxing to be on the balcony and enjoy the view of the stunning water, and the free wifi was also a godsend as we had some travel issues that needed sorting. Vintage vacation

If you are wanting to experience a vintage vibe then this is the place for you. We felt like we were in the 80’s / 90’s with the dark decor and styling throughout. On the initial face of it the place looked clean but on closer inspection, the bathroom and kitchen were in need of a deep clean, especially the utensils and multiple touch points with visible grime. The shower unit was a bit dirty and the shower panel doesn’t stop water going all over the bathroom floor. The floor tiling in the main area was uneven and visibly dirty through inadequate cleaning. The lighting was poor especially the dusty ceiling headlamp that my husband kept being hit by when within the vicinity of the sofa. Whilst the photos reflect the facilities they do not reflect the ambiance of what felt like a dark and oppressive room. The appliances in the kitchenette are dated and rusty and appear not to be working efficiently as per the usage instructions for the fridge/freezer. Be prepared for little sleep if the weather turns windy as the double glazing is poor and you will hear the howling through the night and day. The condo is in need of a refurbishment and a deep clean. We have stayed in other self catering properties on Oahu and they are leagues ahead for the same pricing that include parking. On a positive the room has great views of the ocean where you will see whales during the winter season. I would recommend that you take/hire binoculars to whale watch, it is addictive!

Great view but AC did not work properly

The good: The view is excellent The bad: We rented this unit because the listing said they had AC. The AC didn't work properly. We let the property owner know and she told us to call the managment company. We called and they sent someone out. They said the AC needed repair and AC tech. The property owner sent us a message apologizing but said she couldn't get an AC tech within the next 2 weeks. That wasn't acceptable and I let her know. She offered no concessions.

I fell in love with Maui the first time I visited the island - so much so that I stayed for 10 years. I got a job in the visitor industry that allowed me to see paradise up close and personal. I've flown over waterfalls, biked down Haleakala crater, swam off the black sand beach and dove at Molokini. Although I've moved back to my home in Seattle, WA, I fly back to my island home every year to take a deep breath and feel the aloha.

What makes this property unique

When I travel to Maui, my goals are sun and relaxation. I have recently remodeled my unit to create an open, breezy, island style atmosphere and to take total advantage of the ocean view. I can watch whales from my private lanai in the winter and enjoy the colorful sails of the windsurfers in the summer. There's no better place to feel the aloha.
