This chalet is truly unique, one of the oldest buildings in the area. It has been authentically restored a few years ago with attention to detail, using the historic materials to preserve the charm and character of the original building. You will find yourself in beautiful surroundings full of history.
The chalet is centrally located and well located in the Vallèe d'Illiez. The Portes du Soleil, one of the largest ski and mountain bike areas in the Alps, is very close (Champéry, Morgins) and accessible from the house to the lifts by car or by public transport. The thermal baths of Val d'Illiez are just a short walk away. Even in winter, the house is always accessible by car. The town of Troistorrents has shops, butcher, bakery and several restaurants, all within walking distance. A large shopping center is 10 minutes away by car.
In the summer months (from June 15th to September 8th), we offer our guests up to 9 free "Portes du Soleil Multi-Passes". These passes provide free, or at strongly disocunted prices, access to a multitude of activities throughout the 12 Portes du Soleil resorts. Closer to the chalet, these include free access to a cable car, chair lifts, a climbing wall, swimming pools, tennis courts, mini-golf and many others. Great especially for families with children. (See the Portes du Soleil website for details)
With its 300 m² of living space over two floors and its large garden, the chalet can accommodate many people and is ideal for (one or more) families or groups. Pets are welcome. If you are looking for more than just accommodation for yourself, your family or your friends, then Chalet Croix de Pierre will be an excellent choice. Given the beauty of the chalet and its antique restoration, we don't host big group celebration parties.
What used to be the living quarters of the farming family is today an open and spacious living room with large sofas and a 150 year old wood stove. The kitchen and dining area is also open, with a long dining table, wood stove and antique cupboards. Modern equipment such as dishwasher, electric cooker and oven, fridge and freezer, coffe machine, toaster etc. are of course also available.
On the ground floor there is also a guest toilet and a large bedroom with its own spacious bathroom.
The staircase to the upper floor leads through the former smokehouse (and still has a smoky ambience). Upstairs there is a TV and lounge (cable TV with more than 300 programs in all languages, as well as the possibility to rent films). The sofa in this room can be used as a double bed if required. This floor has four more bedrooms, each with room for two persons, as well as two bathrooms with showers and a separate toilet.
Outside on the south side, the chalet has a beautiful, large terrace and a covered barbecue area with barbecue and fireplace. The view of the mountains of the Dents Blanches is wonderful in all seasons. The terrace has tables and chairs for up to twelve people. The surrounding garden is large and flat (not eveident at all in the mountains), with room to play. A ping-pong table is available.
If you really want to or need to wash your clothes during your vacation, a waching machine and a tumble dryer are available in an extension.
A private parking lot provides ample space for several cars.
The fountain in front of the old front door of 1777 is fed by its own spring from the other side of the valley. At the roadside is the ancient stone cross, which gave the house its name "Stone Cross".
