Overview

Photos and Description of this Michiana Shores holiday cabin

2 Bedrooms, 1Baths (Sleeps 5)

This lovely cabin in a private setting is spacious yet has a warm rustic feeling. Built in the 1940s, it has a stone fireplace, maple hardwood floors, pine walls, a cathedral ceiling in the living room with a cozy sleeping loft on the mezzanine, plus two bedrooms on the main level with queen beds. There is a separate dining room that seats 6 and a breakfast room off of the kitchen. The wraparound porch has chairs and a large round table for dining or just sipping coffee. It is surrounded by a very large open lawn with mature trees and looks out at a riding stables. You can sit on the large wraparound porch or walk over to the stables and take a trail ride or riding lesson in the large indoor arena. Pony rides are also available for children. The beach is a short walk, or drive for 1 minute, park in our private spot, and walk around the corner to the beach.

The decor has been thoughtfully created by a Chicago designer and builder to be unique yet comfortable.

This home has a new 95% efficiency furnace and central air, newer appliances and is very well maintained. Pets are welcome. Email for details.

The surroundings : This home sits on a large lot and is surrounded by trees. You can see the riding stables across from the private drive. Guests can take trail rides, children can have pony rides, or just visit and bring them carrots. They are very people friendly. The beach is a short walk from the cabin, and we provide private pkg around the corner from the stairs to the water if you choose to drive for the two minutes it takes to get there.

Restaurants and shopping: There is a very nice grocery store down highway 12, which takes all of 10 minutes to get to by car. If you drive another 5 minutes, you will arrive at Light House Mall, a very large discount mall with national retailers. You can also shop and dine in New Buffalo, Michigan, which is 10 minutes in the other direction on highway 12. There are boutiques and Chicago quality restaurants in town and further up along 12, or you can head into the quaint restored town of Three Oaks to see theater, art galleries, shop, or dine.

Such a charming get-away place.

  • 5 of 5

A "Cozy (and spotless) Cabin" is exactly what I found upon entering this property. I was looking for a quiet space to get away for a few weeks and this fit the bill perfectly.

The place was well appointed with everything I needed and I took advantage of the stables and took a ride on one of their great horses. There are some really good restaurants nearby, most notably, Trattoria Tonelli about 15 minutes away in Michigan City

I will definitely be back soon.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Charming and cozy cottage with everything you need for a getaway! Decorated with details that made it feel like a real home and it was immaculate when we arrived. This was our second stay and both times were wonderful. Just over a hour from Chicago but felt like it was worlds away. Situated in a woodsy area directly across from a horse stable. Short drive to the lake for beach walks. Kitchen is fully equipped and close to restaurants and shopping. The owner was easy to reach and helpful when we had questions.

We will definitely be back!

Not all that impressed

  • 3 of 5

Our stay was great we had a good time, but as for the cabin, it was like it hadn't been used for a long time. Landscaping was unkepted, spider webs all over the place. Back doors were so covered in spiderwebs you could tell they hadn't been used in a long time. The place has a lot of potential, but it needed some upkeep and some general maintenance that was well-needed.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry you had that experience ! I sent the cleaning crew over as soon as I read this. I have to say in their defense a family member had been very ill and passed recently so I suspect this detail may have been overlooked due to the stress involved. The landscaping is very country with some wild flowers and plants as the cabin is on a farm on seven acres, so not "manicured', outside of the lawn which is mowed regularly. We would be happy to send you an apology credit if you would like. Again, this is not our typical appearance ! Thank you for your feedback, Claudia

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for a quiet weekend away, and it couldn't have fit our needs any better! It was clean, well stocked, and had plenty of room. Shops and restaurants were nearby, and the beach was within reasonable walking distance. The porch was perfect, and we enjoyed watching the horses in the yard while having our morning coffee. We will absolutely be coming back, and definitely staying a little longer!
