Waialua Honu Hale (Turtle House) - Spectacular Beachfront Home!

Bedrooms 4
Space 185 m²
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

The Waialua Honu Hale is located on a scenic sandy beach, on a quiet cul-de-sac. A five minute drive into Haleiwa lets you enjoy restaurants, shopping, and adventures; not to mention this quaint town is the surfing capitol of the world.

The home is finished with wood and slate flooring throughout, a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and stainless appliances.

Our Waialua home is located on the North Shore on the island of Oahu. This is the Hawaii you dream about, just 35 minutes from the Honolulu International Airport, 45 minutes from Pearl Harbor and 45 minutes to the beaches of Waikiki. The North Shore offers snorkeling, swimming, diving, fishing, windsurfing, kayaking and of course surfing. We recommend a trip to the Old Sugar Mill of Waialua and try the natural shave ice, Waimea Falls Botanical Garden, Polynesian Cultural Center, Sunset Beach or maybe a horseback ride in Pupukea.

We call this house the Honu (turtle) Hale (home) for when you walk along the beach in the early evening you often see many turtles within the coral and reefs eating their dinner.

Incredible House, Incredible View

  • 5 of 5

This listing was the first I clicked on, and in an instant I fell in love. I was so excited that our dates in December were available for booking. It was a blessing to stay here, and I know my husband and two boys and I will return to this amazing beachfront home on the beautiful North Shore Oahu. My favorite room in the house is the living room. The water is literally right in front of you. The waves crashing is such a lovely, soothing sound. You can hear it all around you in the house. When you go outside, it is pure heaven. We were constantly relaxing on the chaise lounge and chairs outside enjoying the view.

All the rooms in the house are clean and well-appointed. The decor is subtle, styling is perfectly simple with that Hawaiian touch and not overdone. The kitchen is well-stocked with all you need. The bed linens are lovely and incredibly comfortable.

The location is perfectly close to the North Shore offerings. It's easy to get in and out of the neighborhood to go exploring. It's an easy drive to Waikiki too.

My family and I loved this house. We definitely recommend this vacation home. It's so nice to have ample room to spread out and the freedom to cook your own food instead of being forced to eat at restaurants all the time as hotels require. What we liked best is that the house is so spacious and relaxing. You can't beat the location and view.

Mahalo for the amazing opportunity. Aloha.

Was everything we expected, and more!

  • 5 of 5

this place was everything we expected it to be. The beauty of the pictures are exactly what we got from this house. It was accessible to anything we needed, but far enough away to be out of the city chaos.

Plus, Joann is such a sweetheart and we just loved her.

I look forward to returning again.

Great Stay in a Beautiful Place

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed 8 glorious day in the perfect beach house for us. All we needed was on site including boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, beach umbrellas and chairs. The kitchen was stocked with cooking necessities including wonderful Kona Coffee. Lots of room in the common/dining/kitchen area plus a great outdoor barbeque and table for 8. We loved the town of Haleiwa and the surrounding beaches. We swam with the turtles which we shared in the ocean you see in the picture! We had wonderful dinners in town when we didn't want to cook and even discovered the fabulous "food trucks". The fish was caught daily and oh so fresh. Highly recommend --- would return for another stay.

Beautiful house, excellent owner

  • 5 of 5

The pictures are not an exaggeration--this house is literally ON the beach. It was so relaxing to hear the waves! And we did see a turtle. The house was great. Lots of comfy couches, really great style, and plenty of beach and bath towels (which is something that some owners might overlook but is SO important at a beach house). Joey Ann was great to work with and went out of her way to get us information about a street repaving that was scheduled during our stay and to make sure we weren't bothered by a neighbor she heard was making a lot of noise (we weren't bothered). I also appreciated JoAnn, the house manager; she gave us lots of great tips on things to do. We loved staying in Wailua. It was a quiet little town but still close to the activities and sights we wanted to do/see. (And I don't think there's a mention of it in the description, but the backyard also has an awesome tree to climb. Every morning my kids would climb the tree and read before breakfast.)

Beach House Bliss

  • 5 of 5

My family of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at Joey's secluded North Shore home. Everything we needed was there, or close by, and you just can't top the proximity to the beach - right outside our door! No need to go elsewhere for snorkeling trips to see HUGE turtles. They are visible all the time from this beach, and you can get right in the midst of them when snorkeling. The property manager, JoAnn was very helpful, always available, and even brought us a delicious fresh catch of fish for one of our evening meals. Yum!!! If you're looking for a great family escape, and some real beachy vibes, this is the place!

Beautiful, peaceful house right on a quiet beach

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the turtle house! The space was tastefully furnished and had a beautiful orientation to the outdoors. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood, away from the highway, and right on the beach. A public access point to the beach is right next to the house, but the beach nonetheless felt quiet and very private. We got the feeling this was more authentic island living, as it seemed most of the people around were locals, and the town of Waialua is tiny and not at all touristy (if you want AMAZING Poke, go to the Waialua General Store, which is just a few minutes away by car.) We loved the house so much that we didn't leave much. The beds were comfortable and the place had everything we needed (including snorkel gear!) The water out front is great to swim in. The front yard that faces the ocean is spacious and has very comfortable chairs for lounging, with a wall of tropical "hedges" ensuring privacy from anyone who may be on the beach. The owner was friendly and responsive. The only (relatively small) downside was that there were a lot of house rules that seemed pretty draconian, so much that we were a bit nervous about messing something up, even though we are very clean and respectful people. I got the sense the owner may have had some bad experiences with prior renters, and I can understand her wanting to keep the house in good shape, so I just chalked it up to that and everything was fine in the end. I highly recommend this place!
