About Mrs. Furneaux
I love to sail, Stand-Up-Paddle-Board, kayak, bike and walk the beach while on Anna Maria Island. In the winter I like to downhill ski, cross-country ski, snow shoe and sit by the fire.
Why Mrs. Furneaux chose Holmes Beach
I bought this property because of the awsome waterfront view and it’s location. It is a short walk to the Gulf beach but allows me complete surrenity and privacy. There is a small beach out front where I can launch my kayak and paddle board. I spend a lot of time on the water and if you look on the map, there are a lot of options for water travel from here. I have direct access and a direct view of Tampa Bay but directly infront of the condo the waters are always calm and on a windy day, I can still paddle boart under the Key Royal bridge and through Bimini Bay to the Galati Marina, if I am on my kayak, I can go out the cut and paddle around to 'The Rod and Reel' for lunch and after lunch, paddle out to the Gulf. On a windy day, I put a sail on my Kayak and can sail to Robinsons Preserve or to Eggmont Key. I can also ride my bike to Robinsons Preserve or even down Longboat Key to Sarasota. The tennis courts are out the front door as is the pool and the hot tub feels great after a long peddle to Sarasota and back.

A Beautiful Quiet Place
This was our fifth year renting a condo in Holmes Beach and because there are so many party houses being built on the island we were looking for a quiet place and we sure found it. Jeanne’s beautifully redone condo is right on the bay . There was a big tree with three heron nests...fun watching the babies etc....and lots of dolphins diving in the bay. We have already signed up for next year! It is a lovely well equipped condo and with nice neighbors.
Thank you Liz, I really appreciate your lovely review and look forward to your return. Have a great summer!
Thank you Jean for providing us with a lovely vacation condo! location, perfect and awesome View
Our stay in Jean's condo was lovely. The kitchen had just about anything you needed even 5 corkscrews LOL The View was incredible. While bird watching we saw eagles perched next to the grey heron nest in the Australian pine everyday! The beach was a bicycle ride away or a short few blocks to drive. It was a little far to walk with chairs and cooler. We would have needed a little wagon for that. We provided our own beach chairs it would have been nice if we had lightweight wearable beach chairs and also some condos offered kayaks.
Thank you Cissy, it was a pleasure having you and getting to know you. What a great idea you had about buying a wagon to carry coolers and beach chairs to the beach! I’m going to buy one and put it in the laundry room.
I am so sorry I could not accommodate you for next February but my condo is typically rented a year, sometimes two years in advance. I checked with my neighbor and her condo is also already booked for next February. Maybe we will see you again in 2021. All the best!
Beautiful, well equipped condo with great water view!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Jan-March 2018 stay in this condo. Unit has been totally remodeled with upscale furnishings. The kitchen has all the supplies you would ever need. Amazing view of the bay as soon as you enter the condo. Just a short walk to the pool, tennis courts and dog park. Only downside (took one star off) for us was a very small second bedroom with only a double bed and no room for a cot or folding bed. Owner was very prompt in replacing the washer and addressing some cable issues during our stay. We highly recommend this property.
Thank you for reviewing my condo. It was a pleasure having you as my guests and thank you for taking such wonderful care of my little paradise on the bay.
I will consider replacing the double bed in the guest room with 2 singles.
I’d love to have you back next year.
All the best,
Great view of bay-Maintence needs work
We loved the view of the rental unit, however, one lamp shade was not properly attached to the lamp harp & after being lit for several minutes the lamp shade burned through & was smoking. 2 other lights were burned out & I replaced one expensive bulb that was necessary for us to read-no offer to reimburse from owner.
Upon arrival the cleaning looked adequate but there were Q-tips & toothpicks under some of the furniture that were left from an earlier occupant. When notified, the owner forwarded my comments to the cleaning crew.
The laundry room was messy and disorganized. Generally there was a great variety of kitchen utensils and equipment but I would say that it needed to be pared down and organized better for easier use.
This home is a wonderful place to stay! First class amenities throughout like a high end hotel.
When we arrived the unit was sparkling clean and ready for us, complete with an amazing view. The unit seems to have been recently remodeled with new marble, stone, granite, and wood flooring everywhere. All of the fixtures and furnishings were top end as well, with a Riviera flair. We especially enjoyed the master mattress. I think it must be a Tempurpedic.
We liked that this is an end unit with windows on three sides. So many condos are tunnel like. The view of the bay out the huge rear window was stellar. We spent many hours reading and watching boats, birds, and dolphins passing through.
The second bedroom and bath were a welcome addition. We had friends join us for a few nights and it worked nicely for them.
The complex itself was nicely maintained. There is an outdoor pool and spa a few steps from front door, as well as a tennis court. We especially enjoyed the beach access a few steps from the rear of the unit. We rented kayaks and spent several days paddling the bay and exploring the canals.
We are walkers and there is a village area 5-10 minutes away with several shops and restaurants. Hurricane Hanks is a friendly hangout, and Eat Here! has spectacular food at reasonable prices in a cozy spot. The Gulf coast beaches are a 15-20 minute walk, depending on which access point you choose.
I enjoy golf, and the IMG Academy is a great resource. It’s about a 25 minute drive south in Bradenton. They have a practice facility open to the public, which in October was only $15 to use for the entire day. Unlimited balls on the range plus use of the chipping and putting greens and bunkers too. Even came with an electric cart. I also played their associated course which is set in a golf community. Nicely maintained and interesting, but maybe a bit narrow for this duffer.
We had some concern for hurricane damage since we arrived not long after Irma passed though the region. We were relieved that the apparent damage was quite limited. About the only thing we noticed were piles of tree debris scattered around awaiting pick up and disposal.
All in all an excellent stay!
Not only is the water view breathtaking but it is enhanced by acres of green grass and open space. This 23 acre water front peninsula only contains 30 two story buildings surrounding you with plenty of blue water and green grasses. It is very private but within a short walk of gulf beaches, restaurants, bars, shopping, marina, gym, beauty salon, Post Office, Library and free trolley. There are also companies near by who will deliver Kayaks, paddle boards bikes and boats right to your back yard, where you can launch them from your private beach. For more excitement, you can reach St Armand's Circle and Sarasota in 30 minutes for elegant shopping, dining, live concerts, theater, ballet and the height of art and culture. The Tampa airport can be reached in an hour and Disney Orlando in 2 1/2 hours. Yet, once on Anna Maria Island you are light years away from the hustle and bustle of big city life and free to wonder the tranquil and serene white sand beaches inhabited by hundreds of tropical and exotic birds. This is life the way it should be.
Other Activities: golf, kayaking, biking, paddle boarding, sailing, boating, beach combing, tennis, golf, swimming, birding.
