About this property

Cabin in the Blue Ridge ,10% discount for Military, Christian and special groups

Rest easy partners, when you arrive at our Cabin you will find it "Cleaned and Disinfected" to the standards of both the "Center for Disease Control, CDC" and the "Virginia Deartment of Health, VDH." We clean both hard and soft surfaces using soap and water or Alcohol Solutions with a minimum of 70% alcohol. Where practical, we use EPA-registered household disinfectants (cdc.gov/coronavirus.)

Knowing the above info, please rest and discover the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains in our 4500 sq. ft log cabin nestled on 120 acres of private land in the midst of the Jefferson National Forrest. Located just north of Marion, Virginia, 22 miles west of Hwy 77 (exit 52, Bland) on route 42, you will be able to hike or ride horses across many miles of local trails or the Appalachian Trail itself. This area of Southwest Virginia, known as the scenic rich “Blue Ridge Highlands”, is replete with historic beauty and offers something for all seasons. The world famous "Back of the Dragon" motorcycle stretch of Hwy 16 is only 3 miles west of our cabin on rte 42.

As a testimony to the beauty of the area a Lassie movie was made in this valley.

Please note that our cabin is protected by an outdoor only security camera system that will be disarmed during your stay.

This huge cabin will not disappoint
Sherman said this place would hold 22, but I was leary. It indeed will hold that many comfortably. We had a men's gathering with a bunch of hungry men and the kitchen definitely suited our need. The fire pit outside was great to have in the cool evenings. There are so many nooks and crannies to this cabin. I kept finding more rooms. The view is breath taking. There is a little space in the front to play yard games, hiking around the perimeter and horses to gaze at. The wood stoves provided good heat during the chilly night. Everyone loved it!

Great Thanksgiving Stay
We had a great time staying at this house for our family thanksgiving. Beautiful property, plenty of room for everyone, hiking trails on site and a short drive away. The basement was a cold some nights when the fire went out, so some more space heaters would have been great and a few more house flies then we would have liked but no big deal. Kirby was very responsive and helpful! Over all a great memorable stay. I would highly recommend!

Seasonal Bugs & Driveway rocks & ruts
This was the second stay in this vacation home in 8 years. The remote location and the size of the gathering areas are a plus as is the bonfire pit and the surrounding hills which are beautiful in the Fall. However, the driveway is treacherous, especially in wet weather when the mud and potholes prevail. Our van scraped on the rocks as it climbed the hill to the house. When we entered, there were dead and dying bugs on nearly every surface, including the pillows and sheets. The property management team member assigned to us refused to come back out to clean after our arrival. This made for a continual process of sweeping up the carcasses during the stay taking away family time. There were other issues with the home that surfaced during our time there, the property management team has been advised of these concerns separately.

Family Reunion
It was a great place to have a family reunion. Plenty of space to go to a quiet spot and plenty of space to hold games with the entire family. The driveway was a challenge but the property and the house was beautiful. We had an issue with the a/c but Kibry was very responsive and worked with me until it was rectified. We would highly recommend this to anyone.

Great property
The property was great. There were a few road closures that took us a different way up the mountain, but we saw fox, deer, black bear, and a variety of other things along the way. (Closures were definitely out of the property owner's control.) The views are stunning, it's pitch black at night, and the back porch, hammock and all, was a great place to sit in silence and enjoy the scenery. The property was big enough for the whole group and was perfect for what we wanted. Will be back.
