Nice and comfortable house with very strict cleaning policies

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the house - it was very comfortable for 4 adults and 3 teens. There are enough beds to have one more family, but then bathrooms may be a problem. The beds were comfortable. The living room had very nice big windows with views of the lake. In the kitchen there were plenty of plates, utensils etc. The wifi was excellent. What could be improved: the steps to the house were not cleared of snow when we arrived. This made it a bit challenging to get to the house. The requirements for cleaning the house when we check out were extremely strict considering that they charged $130 cleaning fee. Here is some of it: "Clean bathrooms (include tubs, toilets. sink, shower and make beds. Vacuum floor and mop tile." this is on top of having to bring our own sheets and towels. So I am ok with doing this, but then why charge the cleaning fee or charge the fee and not clean, just make sure the house is in ok condition? Otherwise we really liked it.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed the stay! We do not require all that cleaning since adding the cleaning fee. I'm sorry it was not removed from the online contract, but I will do that. We just expect guests to leave it neat and in the condition they find it. I apologize for the misunderstanding!

Feedback from our stay this weekend

  • 3 of 5

Owner was easy to reach through the HomeAway app.

Internet speed was good.

Wood stove worked well and there was sufficient firewood.

Very powerful smell of fabric softener in the master bedroom/bath due to adjoining laundry room.

Kitchen supplies were a bit sketchy

A broken chair in the living room.

No kindling for the wood stove.

Not as charming as we'd hoped, but overall, it did the job.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you had a few complaints. What specifically did you feel was needed in the kitchen? We are happy to provide more pots/pans/etc. Also, the broken chair has been fixed.

A great family getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay. Quiet and remote, but only a 30 minute (beautiful) drive to Elk Mountain. Perfect for a family getaway.

a great family vacation

  • 4 of 5

There were eight of us staying at the cabin and I was a bit worried that it might be too small. We all fit comfortably and found the living area to be plenty large for all of us. The use of the several boats and swimming and diving off the dock right in front of the cottage were a real plus! It was a super vacation.

Such an amazing weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 3 and two other families of 4 just returned from this beautiful rental located on the stunning Page Lake. I really didn't have any expectations other than the completely skewed "warnings" from my husband, who told me I wouldn't want to get into lake water. It was the complete opposite - I couldn't get enough of Page Lake! I went out on the kayak several times during our stay and swam in the refreshing and very clean lake water! The weather could not have been more perfect during our stay.

The accommodations were extremely comfortable and clean. We stayed in the Master Bedroom and my son (age 3) slept in every morning we were there (yay!) bc the bed was so nice. The other families said their rooms were also very comfy -- plenty of space for everyone. Oh and there's central air too - which actually wasn't really necessary bc at night it gets super cool (pack some jeans and a hoodie!) and in the mornings/early afternoon there's an incredible breeze that comes off the lake (so open those sliders facing the lake and enjoy!)

Our short time at Page Lake was incredible and I've already asked my husband and the other families to come back here next year! Hoping to make this a yearly tradition!

New Milford Lake House

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the lake house. Wish we could have stayed longer than just the weekend. The view was great. There was no canoe but the boys enjoyed fishing usung the rowboat. We would recommend this house to friends and would consider using it in the winter too!
