Delightful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this wonderful unit right in the charming village of Somerset out in the west end of the island. For a family of 4 there is plenty of room and very easy access to transportation (ferry and bus).

Inside, the unit is bright and airy fitted out with anything you'd need for either a two day or two week stay.

The first floor balcony affords stunning views over the Great Sound to the North Shore of the island. Both upstairs bedrooms look out to this view also. All rooms do, in fact!

There is a BBQ grill available for guest use and dock area down by the water. Ideal for swimming, sunbathing, kayaking etc. The kids just spent many an hour just jumping in the water.

We made extensive use of the private beach on the adjacent property.

All in all, a great spot in a great area, in a great country!

Brilliant place to stay. Very handy for the ferry to Hamilton and right next to a bus stop.

Overall a wonderful place to stay with good AC. Local beach great for snorkelling. You need to wear water shoes as lots of corals around.

Breathtaking views from this cottage

  • 3 of 5

We were a family of four staying at the Watford Studio. The accommodations are basic - beds were comfortable, however furniture, kitchen and bath were a bit dated. Water pressure was low in the shower, however, do not know if that is an island thing or limited to this particular home.

The views are beautiful from the upstairs balcony and the patio. A few steps down to the dock, there was a ladder you could lower into the water and swim. we purchased some round tubes in hamilton and floated in the water - quite nice. the "private" beach across the street you cannot swim in - there were glass shards all over the sand and many rocks in the water. it is a short walk to the bus stop which was very convenient. a little bit longer walk to the gas station which had a small convenience store.

The wifi did not work at all. spoke to the owners who stated it was working. we could connect, but once connected could not bring up any website or do anything. thus unfortunately cost us $20/day for verizon international service to connect two phones for the week.

washer and dryer are combined in one unit - it washes first and then dries. this is fine if you have 3 hours to do one load of laundry. we ended up just washing our clothes and hang drying them.

we had transportation ticket books which was definitely worth it - short bus ride to the dockyard. there is also the watford ferry steps away from the unit. it travels to hamilton at 7 and 8 a.m. and returned from hamilton at ~ 4, 5 and 6 p.m. it's a commuter ferry, so very convenient. we took the bus to hamilton and the ferry back.

overall enjoyed our stay on the island. owners very nice.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to review our cottage and the Island. I am glad you enjoyed the views from the cottage and using the dock. Very sorry about the wifi, it did appear that it was working from our end. We did subsequently work out what the issue was and the router has been replaced. I am looking into the low water pressure as I did not know this was a problem.

Perfection on the Great Sound

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the most wonderful time in Bermuda thanks to Christine and her fabulous rental accommodations. The place was clean and laid out perfectly for our week long visit. The bus stop is very close by and the dock and beach areas were great for snorkeling. We even took out their small kayak and toured around kings islands and mangrove bay, sighting green sea turtles aplenty along the way. Sunrise view from watford studio 2 was remarkable every single day and I got some really great time lapse videos of it. Sunset was really spectacular from the beach side. Our hosts were welcoming and warm, giving us good recommendations for dining out and transportation. We are looking forward to visiting the islands again and staying here.

Owner's Response: Thank-you so much for your kind review. It is particularly appreciated as my family was actually on holiday during your stay, and I was quite worried that things would not run smoothly. I am so glad to know that they did, and I look forward to meeting you personally on your return trip!
