About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1.5 Baths, Cable T.V., WiFi

The OK Street Jailhouse is a great place to stay while in Bisbee on vacation or business. Built in 1904 as the local branch of the County Jail, this jail was the arm of the prison system until 1915, when a larger facility had to be constructed to keep up with the increased 'boarder' demand of a booming mining town.

While turn-of-the-century inmates never had it this good, you can relax in total comfort at the OK Street Jailhouse. On the first floor, the former Jailer's office is a small entry area, The 'Drunk Tank' houses the living room/kitchen and a half bath. Take the stairs to the second floor to the cell for 'serious offenders' and you'll find a small sitting area, the bedroom, a closet, and the bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi tub. While serving your sentence at the OK Street Jailhouse, the entire building is yours, making you the jailer and the inmate. After we turn the keys over to you, 'you're on your own'.

Inmates at the OK Street Jailhouse need to rely on public parking just a few steps from the Jail. Fine eating establishments, museums and activities are located within walking distance from the Jail.

What makes this house unique

Bisbee is an ideal central location for day excursions, hiking. biking, rock hounding. There is almost no chance to be bored. Within 30 or 40 miles you can visit historic areas like Douglas, Tombstone, and Ft. Huachuca. There are a ton of hiking trails in the Coronado National Forest, east and west of Bisbee, some easy, some rather challenging. The National Park Service has lots of information on the history of the area and also detailed trail descriptions. San Pedro Riparian Area is good for hiking and bird watching. Bicycling is a favorite sport with more level streets in the Warren and San Jose Areas, building up to the ride up the hill into Old Bisbee, or even riding a loop around Bisbee. During the Mineral Show in the Fall, rockhounds have a chance to participate in a guided tour to areas general off limits to the public. Many visitors enjoy the yearly Historic Home Tour on the weekend after Thanksgiving, as well as a yearly B&B or Lodging Tour in June.

One of a kind getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The jailhouse is like no place we’ve ever stayed in. It’s definitely been able to maintain its original jail charm over the years.

Walkable from practically everywhere in Old Bisbee we had a blast.

The cellar walls helped keep the noise out. We barely even noticed all of the tourists stopping at the jail.

Fun and unique property

  • 5 of 5

My wife, 11 month old, and I enjoyed our 2 night stay at the old Bisbee jail. It is fun and unique with an amazing location. Lots of light in the bedroom, so night owls should bring a sleeping mask! Overall the place is a bit dated, but was a terrific value. Would recommend!

It was exactly as described. The air conditioner worked great! We are not fans of interacting with the property owners during our visit, nothing personal, i'm sure if we needed anything they would have been there as they responded immediately to all questions. We just had 100% privacy and it was wonderful!!! thank you. we will be back and refer others.

Great not “OK”

  • 5 of 5

Great location with plenty of parking in the area. The stairs were rough on my old doggo but it wasn’t a problem helping her up to the loft area. The property was clean with all the amenities that we needed. Recommended.
