Melegis is one of the flatter villages in the Lecrin Valley on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada, 3 km west of the motorway from Granada to the sea. It overlooks the Beznar dam which is 10 minutes walk from the village. Neighbouring villages are Lecrin, closer to the motorway, Murchas, Restabal and Conchar. It's a great place for walking - with Moorish ruins and a hermitage within striking distance. The Alhambra Palace is a MUST, as is the ancient town of Granada. Take a drive to the top of the Sierra Nevada, explore the unique architecture of the Moorish Alpujarras, or lunch on the beach. Swimming is best at Nerja which is quite a drive. Make it a day out and eat paella on the beach. Really worth the effort.
There's a water park at Granada.
Golf: There is an 18 hole golf course half-way between Melegis and Granada and a 9 hole course along side the shore at Motril. Details are in the information book in the house.

About Penelope Middelboe
A genuine family home. We clubbed together as a family and bought it as a ruin. Children have grown up here and each year we rush to book our precious weeks under the lemons.
Penelope Middelboe purchased this house in 1999
Why Penelope Middelboe chose Melegis
It's real Spain. It's in a beautiful part of the country. You can ski in the winter, mountain walk in the spring and autumn, and chill in the heat of the summer. The heat is never unbearable and yet always guaranteed. The village is high on hills above a dam and cooled by irrigation water from the Sierra.
What makes this house unique
