Photos and Description of this Lower State holiday studio

Studio, 1 Bath (Sleeps 3)

A classy hideaway in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara's entertainment district with shopping, music, dance and excellent restaurants just steps away. The apartment is one block from State St., 2 blocks from the 'Funk Zone' and four blocks up from the beach. This artist designed studio apartment is small but beautiful. The apartment has exclusive use of the front porch of a lovely craftsman style house on a charmingly landscaped, fully enclosed private property in the center of the entertainment district . The elegantly designed corner bed couch is unusual. A drawer pulls out to convert it to a really comfortable queen size bed with tempurpedic topper. We can add an extra single bed-height blowup bed if needed. There is HDTV, WIFI, washer/dryer and gated private off street parking. BBQ on your porch, eat fresh fruit from the fruit trees and use the free bicycles for car free, stress free enjoyment. Relax and feel pampered in this thoughtfully re-designed and well loved home. This is one of three apartments in an old home so please understand that this is not a good choice for loud late night partying. If you would like to check out the other two (one bedroom) apartments, they are Mama Dux and Papa Dux.

About Laura Wildman Manager for Inga

Laura: I take care of The 3DUX and our guests on behalf of my cousin, Inga Frick. Inga grew up in the house with her mother and grandparents. Her grandfather was known to the extended family as Papa Duck. The DUX are named in his honor.

Laura Wildman Manager for Inga purchased this studio in 1993

Why Laura Wildman Manager for Inga chose Santa Barbara

Our family were renters in the house for 40 years before we were able to buy it in 1993. My grandmother and grandfather ran a washing machine repair business in the house. I grew up (at least partly) in the house.

What makes this studio unique

Location and charm in Santa Barbara

  • 5 of 5

This luxuriously decorated, impeccably clean, and thoroughly comfortable studio was a perfect place to spend five days back in Santa Barbara, my home for 30 years, until I moved away six years ago. Located just one block from State Street, with its convenient electric trolley service, shops, restaurants and just five blocks from the beach and Stearn's Wharf, this apartment is great for enjoying all that SB has to offer. Off-street parking, a very pleasant and surprisingly private porch, and bicycles are welcome amenities. Laura emailed me to let me know that the city planned an electic service outage one night and offered an extra flashlight or whatever else I felt I needed. It was not an inconvenience at all since I slept through the outage! She checked the next morning to be sure that all was well. I highly recommend this studio, especially as an alternative to similarly priced hotel rooms! Great location, thoughtful service, excellent value. Five stars!

Baby Dux Santa Barbara

  • 4 of 5

Loved the location, walking distance to the beach, Stern's Warf, the harbor, State Street and the whole downtown area. The ability to stay with our dog was so much appreciated. The sofa serving as the bed was a challenge to operate. I'd probably prefer the convenience of just a regular bed rather than the sofa. Will definitely plan to stay again in one of the other two larger units. Overall, we truly loved our stay there. THANK YOU!

A wonderful location and a beautiful apartment with everything you could possibly need.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for nearly a month in the apartment and found it to be very comfortable and convenient for everything that we wanted to do. We used the bikes provided to get around. Being so close to State Street and the Sea Front was perfect. We were able to eat out but more often we chose to use the barbecue to cook and eat on the private front porch. Everything in that you could possibly need is provided in the apartment and everything is of an excellent quality. When we did need something Laura was always available to help us, whether this was information about the city or a kettle (we are English!) to make tea. We loved the experience so much we would like to return again another year to spend August relaxing in this wonderful location.

Cute, clean and centrally located to the funk zone and state street attractions. Had a great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay for my wife's birthday. Left the car in the parking space and never used it again for 3 days. The property is a cozy studio within walking distance (5-10 minutes) of everything, funk zone , stearns wharf, state street, grocery store. We used the bikes on the property to explore up and down the coast on the bike path at the beach which was a great convenience. Laura even had a bottle of champagne in the fridge for my wife's birthday, a very thoughtful touch!

Location location locatiton

This is in a beautiful location -- quick trip to the pier or down State Street.

Downside was unseasonably hot weather and no AC.

Tiny place.

Owner's Response: We're unhappy it was unseasonably warm during your visit. The apartment does have an overhead fan and two other fans to make it as comfortable as possible on those unusual times we have heat, which are very infrequent. We're very happy you enjoyed the location. Happy travels, Laura and Inga
