Lovely cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at this charming cottage. It was the perfect size for a family of four, with a beautiful backyard and close to a cute little village and nice lake to swim in. Kerrie was very responsive and the house has a cozy, warm feel to it. We'd stay again, for sure. Thanks!

Cutest Cottage, The Best of Childhood

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is like stepping back to your childhood - visiting your grandmother or great aunt with all the cool stuff. The cottage is mostly in original condition, with gorgeous wood floors and the cutest kitchen ever! Yet the washer and dryer in the basement make it convenient for modern living. It tool us three days to even notice the TV in the living room, and we never turned it on. The artwork on the walls is fabulous, some of it done by the owner!

The kitchen is amazingly well stocked, the gas oven and stove work perfectly and there is every pan and pot you can imagine. The bedrooms are comfortable and the bathroom functional with always enough hot water. There is enough space for everyone.

The front porch is the perfect place to hang out and have meals. My kids loved the croquet set and played every day in the backyard.

There is no AC, but fans keep the house cool. We left the windows open every night, then closed them up before it got hot to keep the cool air in. We were never uncomfortable and it hit over 90 during our visit. The beach was perfect for cooling down too :)

It is a short drive or 10 minute walk to the beach. The beach is clean and perfect for kids. There are picnic tables in the shade so bringing snacks is possible, toilets, and even kayaks you can rent. The lifeguards are super friendly.

The village is a 2 minute walk to a coffee shop and deli and a few cute shops. For grocery shopping drive to Northville Market or Bantam Market for upscale and health foods (from kombucha on tap to raw milk, awesome cheese, local artisan bread, GF, Vegan foods, etc...), or down to the Big Y in New Milford or ShopRite in Brookfield for big shops.

Lots of local farm stands for fresh blueberries, fresh milk and more. Check out when the local farmers markets are too.

As a note, I grew up a few towns away from here, and know the area well. I came back with my husband and 9 and 10 year old for a one week stay in July 2016. We all enjoyed it and adored the cottage. Highly recommend for a truly relaxing family holiday.

Kerrie is a wonderful owner, clearly loves the house, and was responsive and our security deposit was returned within 24 hours. Could not ask for a more lovely owner or home to visit.

Carefree living within walking distance to lake & shops

  • 5 of 5

Kerrie's house is lovely with everything one could need for a week's stay (or longer). We love Lake Waramaug and the Litchfield area. Our 4 year old daughter also had blast with the lake nearby and the playground at the end of Church St. One needs a car to explore the area and check out great restaurants like Community Table or the farmer's markets in Washington or Morris. Kerrie was super-responsive to all inquiries and requests and her house is perfect for a relaxing getaway from the city. We loved the front porch where we ate EVERY meal and the large backyard with the hammock. We would definitely return!

Charming Cottage, Fabulous Location

  • 5 of 5

I've just spent three weeks in this charming cottage where memories of what summer is all about came roaring back. The cottage itself is very cute and easy to maintain so time is not spent having to do lots of upkeep rather than relaxing and enjoying the day.

My favorite room is the front porch both on sunny and rainy days, having morning coffee or a glass of wine in comfortable wicker chairs. Also it's a great place for dinner with a table and four chairs.

The cottage is a fabulous location, 5 minutes to a lovely beach on beautiful Lake Waramaug.

There are many other interesting villages nearby, including charming New Preston itself (a very short walk down the hill), and activities galore going on from concerts to house and garden tours, shopping, scenic drives everywhere, great restaurants or just kicking back on that aforementioned porch and reading, taking a nap, or just watching the world go by.

In all, a real little gem.....I'll be back.
