About The Owner

Our parents, Pouwel and Miriam Gelderloos, are immigrants from the old country The Netherlands. After many adventures and travels they pitched their tent in Paradise Valley. They were fortunate to purchase their own 6 bedroom Paradise Mountain Retreat to raise their 8 children, spoiling them with wildlife, caves, cliffs, canyons, storytelling by campfires accompanied by the music of the hooting owls, cooing doves, twitter of song birds and the whispering winds.

We are the youngest daughters out of the family and for years we have helped our parents welcome guests to this special property. When they decided to retire, we felt that we couldn't let the tradition of sharing this home with other families retire along with them. We hope to continue our parents hospitality and provide a playful environment for your family.

The Owner purchased this house in 1998

Why The Owner chose Yellowstone

The property really choose us. It was a perfect match. we were looking for mountains, wilderness, beauty, lots of space, a comfortable and cozy family home, sheltered garden, dramatic views and all this close to the magic of Yellowstone National Park. It is a central point between Bridger Bowl Ski Resort and Yellowstone Park. And here we are one half hour away from the Yellowstone National Park and an hour away from Bozeman, a bustling university town with its cultural and natural diversities. Not to forget to mention Historic downtown Livingston(half hour away), an eclectic gallery paradise with its eateries, breweries and wine cellars.

Our children grew up with weekly Chico Hot Spring visits ( 8 minutes away), bridge jumping and floating the Yellowstone River.( 5 minutes away) But most of all they lived daily with the wildlife wonders of a mini Yellowstone Park that covered and adjoined our 20+ acres of Paradise Mountain Retreat.

What makes this house unique

The property is situated at a precise midpoint in Paradise valley minutes from premium elk and deer public land hunting grounds and prime fishing on Yellowstone River. 30 Minutes away from North entrance to Yellowstone Park with access to Lamar Valley for prime winter wildlife viewing and cross country skiing among the geysers in Mammoth Hot Springs. The Paradise Mountain Retreat is Heaven for young and old. It always surpasses everyone's expectations. It is ideal for large groups and still cozy and intimate for a intimate getaway and for small families. It is a Real Home away from Home with enough room and space, inside as well as outside, for everyone to be happy. The gourmet cooks enjoy the fully equipped gourmet kitchen, the teenagers can't wait to explore the cliffs and canyons. The younger children spontaneously kick off their shoes, run out unto the inviting lawn exploring the tepee and discovering the dug in trampoline hidden by a a circle of green bushes and then run to the swing set. They will find a family of deer or rabbits somewhere hidden close by. Moms enjoy a quiet moment in the hammock under the trees. I will not forget to mention the views from artistically placed picture windows in the house, the stillness that speaks peacefully day and night, the starry sky adored from a soothing hot tub after a day of exploring The Yellowstone National park. The house is for rent by itself, however, tenters are welcome also. The larger Tee-pee is also available for adventurous spirits!

Take advantage of the many winter activities around. Great Snowmobiling and Cross Country skiing trails in Mill Creek and Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone Park, a 30 minute drive. Downhill skiing at Bridger Bowl, a 1 hour drive. Downhill sledding or dog sledding in Mill Creek, a 30 minute drive.

Wonderful Family Home!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week with our 4 kids and 5 grandkids at this amazing family retreat. The generous and immaculate inside space, the thoughtful amenities, the privacy from the bluff behind the house, the cool shade, the fun details (two tepees, a very safe in-ground trampoline, many toys, a coloring/game corner for the little ones, the swingset, the hot tub, a garden with ripe berries to pick) all made for a week of total relaxation and entertainment for all ages. And the view from the deck was of beautiful Emigrant Peak framed by two cottonwood trees. We watched the Perseid meteor shower from the deck the night before we left--magical! Thank you Gelderloos Family for sharing this wonderful place! It is truly something special!

Owner's Response: Thank you Rian and Susan for taking the time to share with future guests the little secret fun elements this property offers. This week's experience of having you all here brought memories back from the time we raised our children .... the same excited voices, playful happy laughter from early morning on till their bedtime. And then the golden-glow of Montana evening spreads, lighting up the cliff formations, the perfect time for parents and grandparents to count their many blessings of the day! Thank you for fullfilling our vision and mission to share our blessings with other families!

Well appointed home in beautiful setting shortly outside of N. entrance to Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

This home was the perfect setting for our small family reunion (14 people) during the summer. We selected it mostly because of its proximity to Yellowstone National Park, which we enjoyed on several outings. We also enjoyed the home setting itself, which is beautiful and very comfortable during the summer. The lawn and garden are very large, with lots of options for family entertainment. We especially enjoyed the nice fire pit in the evening. The home is about 30 minutes from the North entrance to the Park, so days in the Park involved a lot of driving, because the Park itself is so large. Miriam and Pouwel were very accessible and accommodating for us and they have stocked the house with everything you need other than your own groceries. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, paper products and spices, and the house even has coolers we used to carry our lunches into the Park. I think the home was perfect for our family and would definitely recommend it to others with similar interests. Also, there is a very nice hot springs pool and restaurant about 10 minutes away called Chico Hot Springs Resort -- definitely recommended!

Reunion with 12 small kids!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing place! This house was roomy and comfortable for everyone with lots of outdoor fun. The kids really enjoyed the tee-pees and play area. Miriam does incredible work in her yard - the garden and landscaping were beautiful. The kitchen was fully functioning, the beds were comfy, the bathrooms were clean, the location was perfect - I have nothing bad to report! I would highly recommend this home to vacationers.

Fantastic property!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for a working staff retreat. There were 18 of us and we were very comfortable. We used the hot tub, the fire pit, the ping pong table...... Everything was great. And the views are unbelievable! Just a gorgeous place. The owners were very accommodating. We asked if we could get in a few hours early and they didn't bat an eye. Everything was ready for us. Highly recommend!!
