About Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners

This photo is of the owners, hiking in one of hundreds of slot canyons in Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, east of Bryce Canyon. We love this area and will never tire of exploring it. And there is no end to the wonders available to explore!

Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners chose Duck Creek Village

We have visited and enjoyed many of our nation's parks and wilderness areas. We think Southern Utah is one of the most beautiful areas in the country, with an array of what are some of the most beautiful and accessible national parks and monuments. We have been coming to the area for several years, drawn by the beauty and wide variety of outdoor activities. We finally decided we needed to own a little piece of this incredible place. With breathtaking natural wonders any way you drive, all within close proximity, you can't beat this location. If you love nature and experiencing the outdoors, as we do, you will be amazed at this part of southern Utah, and you will love our cozy and friendly cabin in Duck Creek.

What makes this cabin unique

There is something magical about this cabin. So many of our guests - and we ourselves - have said that the minute you walk into our cabin, you can feel it. Instant relaxation comes over you! And a feeling of warmth and coziness and welcome. Come experience it yourselves!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had SUCH a wonderful time here in your cabin. After a week here, we are really sad to leave. We enjoyed several day trips to the surrounding areas, and the cabin proved a cozy and comfortable spot to come back to. We loved the winter snow, and have already been talking about a return trip here in the summer to do more hiking. We cannot thank you enough for your friendliness nd hospitality! This last seven days were AMAZING!

Amazing cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

Our family wanted to take a quick getaway and found the perfect little cabin in Duck Creek! If I had a cabin, this is exactly what it would look like. Everything you could possibly need in one perfect cabin in the woods for my family of four and our dog. You will not be disappointed. The wood burning fireplace, quaint neighborhood, and wrap around porch with closing gates so our dog could hang outside while we were making dinner.....were some of our favorite things about the cabin. Jan and Jim were amazing and very easy to reach for any questions. We will definitely be back!

Not only were Jan and Jim wonderful to work with in booking our stay, they provided so much helpful information about the area, the parks, and the cabin for us. Their cabin was perfect and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. I would 100% recommend booking with Jan and Jim and staying at this wonderful cabin. They will provide all the information you could ever need for you stay, making it that much more enjoyable.

Perfect cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent our 20th Anniversary exploring the southern Utah parks. The Strawberry Valley cabin was our home base for the week , and it was "perfection"! Our cabin had everything you could need for a" home away from home ". It was super clean and cozy, and convenient to Bryce, Zion, Red Canyon ,Cedar breaks and so much more. Nestled in the Duck Creek Village community we saw pronghorn roaming every morning and evening just down from the cabin, and we also enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders on the front porch. Additionally, Jan's recommendations on hikes and activities in the parks, restaurants and shopping etc are impeccable. Jan was very helpful with any questions we had, although there were few thanks to her detailed tips and directions. Thank you Jim and Jan for sharing your cabin with us! Rae and Jeff , Pa.

Warm and inviting!

  • 5 of 5

Extended our annual vacation from 7-10 days and wish we were there longer! We spent many hours touring the area and joyed morning coffee on that cute yellow swing watch humingbirds, birds, deer and other critters. We enjoyed daily walks to the meadow to search for horny toads and stargazed at night seeing countless shooting stars. Everything is top quality in the cabin and yes nature you think not to go online. Well each night I sat on the deck on that swing downloading to social media our adventures! We had a great time!

Owner's Response: Christine, we always love having you guys back each year. I almost count you as "family" nw! And I think it is so wonderful the way you guys give your daughter a familiar "home" for vacation every summer. And your descriptions of your activities and encounters in our cabin and the area are wonderful, too. Thanks for being fantastic repeat guests, and for making our cabin your "home away from home". The tail of two dogs in a lovely cabin in beautiful Utah.

  • 5 of 5

What a charming place to stay for a week with two vacation-loving labs and my husband!! The cabin is located high up on a mountain in the beautiful area of Duck Creek Village, Utah. The cabin was more than adequate for all of our needs with many "extras". This included a huge deck for an evening glass of wine where we enjoyed the birds, wildlife and scenery. The deck is even gated off so that our dogs could be out in the sunshine and we didn't have to worry about them running off. This is in a perfect location between Cedar City (where we enjoyed the Shakespeare Festival), Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary . . . which was a great place to visit if you are an animal lover. Thank you Jan for providing such a nice place to stay!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Dawn, for such a lovely review. And I am really happy to hear your dogs loved it too! I'm sorry you had to leave a little early, but I'm glad to know you enjoyed your time at Cedar Hollow. And I'm also glad to hear you got to enjoy some of the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City - it is a wonderful summer arts series, world class, really, and we love it when people discover the great performing arts right here in our back yard! Hope we get to welcome you back again to Duck Creek and to Cedar Hollow cabin! Jan
