Guestbook comments from the owner

I cannot begin to tell you how much we enjoyed our visit in your lovely mountain home! It is more lovely than we could have imagined, and the internet does not do it justice. Our visit to Montana was more enjoyable than last time, and we did a lot more than three years ago. We contribute most of that to where we stayed! We rented a raft and floated down the Flathead, road horses at Many Glacier, hiked to Avalanche Falls and Hidden Lakes, went to Polebridge (one of our favorite places) twice, saw bears, a moose, eagles, ground squirrels, chipmunks, many many hummingbirds, beavers. I could go on and on!!

A little tough to find but worth the search. Clean. Very well equipped. Owner was very responsive. Beautiful outdoor spaces to view the creek. Very comfortable beds and furnishings. Highly recommend. Would return in a minute.

Comfortable with a lovely river view

  • 5 of 5

The chalet is very comfortable and spacious. Great kitchen. Lovely views from inside. The outdoor space is beautiful; enjoyed watching the river and grilling our dinner outside. Appreciated the touches that made it feel like a Montana cabin and like home. Very private and quiet. Was a little worried about finding the location. The owner's directions were spot on and we had no difficulty.

Heaven on the Flathead River

  • 5 of 5

This was our 4th time staying in this amazing very private cabin and we plan to return again. We were blessed to stay this year for 2 weeks. The peace and tranquility from the front deck overlooking the North Fork of the Flathead River into a remote part of West Glacier is unparalleled. We saw deer, bald eagles, geese, mergansers, and a bear from the deck (across the water). We saw a moose just before arriving at the cabin and always get great pleasure feeding the hummingbirds. The cabin is a short 10-15 minute drive to the entrance of West Glacier or the grocery store in Columbia Falls or to Hungry Horse. The cabin is very well stocked with an abundance of kitchen equipment, 2 bathrooms with many linens, and we always appreciate the presence of the washer and dryer. We cooked all evening meals on the amazing outside gas grill while fishing from the bank. A highlight of our trip each time is to rent a raft, put in 15 miles upstream, and to float right by the cabin on the north fork of the Flathead River to Blankenship

Bridge. The owner is local and very available and responsive. Definitely a spot of heaven.

A River Runs Through It

  • 5 of 5

Our week at the Chalet will go down in family history as one of our most memorable vacations. While we set out on hikes every day, we couldn't wait to return to the welcoming house in the evening, sit out on the deck, and watch the river flow. Although our La La Land adult children love LA's gourmet restaurant culture, we cooked every meal in-house, taking full advantage of the well-equipped kitchen and gas grill, as well as the seemingly endless daylight (which did pose a problem for us in the upstairs bedroom at 5:30 am with no curtains).

This was a magical week for us in Glacier, as our younger son proposed to his wonderful girlfriend of 4 years at the top of our Two Medicine Lake hike. The lake grew deeper with our tears of joy, a 300 lb grizzly bear -- more interested in fish than in humans -- appeared at the boat launch to wish the happy couple good luck, and the Chalet bubbled that evening with a Champagne sunset.

We survived the MT Earthquick

  • 4 of 5

The place was great. What a beautiful location with the Northfork River right by the house. We did some rafting which was great as you get off at Blankenship Bridge. Steve Thomas the owner was great to work with. He responded to my emails right away and was very helpful and accommodating. We did take the travel insurance when we made our payment as the driveway can get flooded if they had a lot of rain. I read a review that one guy couldn't use the house because the driveway got flooded and he didn't get his money back. He had to find another hotel to stay in. Steve did say that year there was unusual amount of rain MT had received . We survived the Montana Earthquick which we felt at 12:30am Mountain Time. The entire house shook but the only casualty was a wine glass at our place. The only bad part was that both of the decks were very dirty so we swept the lower deck off. We had a small fire couple of times as it was in the 90's. We had so much fun here that we would love to come back again someday. I highly recommend this place. We look forward to coming back soon.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We strive to make the cabin as comfortable as possible for our guests. I would like to address the mother nature caused issues that you mentioned * The driveway has only been flooded once in the 40 years we have owned the cabin and that was a 100 year flood event. All the road in the area were closed by the local county government for a few days. The creek is a small seasonal creek and only has water in it in the spring. * The earth quake was also an unusual natural phenomenon and and the epicenter was about 300 miles would of the cabin. * The dirt on the deck was actually pollen from the pine trees and they do occasionally have a lot of pollen in the early summer but it normally is not much of an issue unless it is very windy and the pollen blows onto the covered decks.

Amazing property. Stunning location.

On the river, couldn't ask for a better location and property for family vacation. All kinds of amenities. After a hike up Logans Pass, coming back to sit by the river was the best.
