This is a generous garden apartment in a classic brownstone on a great, safe block in vibrant West Harlem. It is super convenient to 5 subways and easy to get anywhere in NYC. Come to Hamilton Heights with Alexander Hamilton's former home right nearby! Live like a native!
Only 3 blocks to 1 train and 5 blocks to A, B, C, D, trains and express is 2 stops (to midtown -Columbus Circle- you can be there in 20 min from your front door), 3 stops to Times Square! There is also a bus that stops on the corner leading directly to Museum Mile, Central Park, The Cloisters, and all over.
This historic home has been completely renovated and recently upgraded, with quality, classic rustic furnishings, lots of room and beautiful original details: decorative fireplace, wood floors, as well as exposed brick, all tiled kitchen and bath, premium fixtures. There is high-speed internet, premium cable with many movie channels, central air, radiant heat.
In season, the peaceful, landscaped outdoor patio affords a wonderful respite and place to relax in between outings or for a nice coffee in the morning. It also is like a second living room and provides a whole other place to sit and regroup.
The apartment can be used as a luxury getaway for 2, or is also spacious enough to sleep up to 6 with plenty of room to not feel cramped. Perfect for families or a great share for 2 couples, with direct access to the bathroom and kitchen from both rooms with privacy.
We are in a classic Harlem neighborhood, with beautifully detailed historic homes to view, great new restaurants, cafes and craft beer pubs right around the corner, easy access to all of Manhattan and the rest of the city. The subways are lively late at night so recommended even into the wee hours, and the parking is easier than in most of the city (we can guide you to free street parking on the block). Plenty of grocery shopping nearby. We live on the premises in the rest of the brownstone and can provide directions, restaurant advice, babysitting, anything needed.
West Harlem is a magical neighborhood so convenient to the rest of Manhattan yet with a history and a feel all its own. We are 2 stops away from midtown, but on a beautiful block with trees and up on a hill, where you can feel the sea breeze from the Hudson, and can walk down to the river's edge for a picnic or get to a bike path that can take you all the way down to lower Manhattan.
Explore Hamilton Heights landmark district, Sugar Hill, Striver's Row. We are so close to many major teaching institutions such as Columbia University, City College, Barnard, Teacher's College, Jewish Theological Seminary, Manhattan School of Music, Columbia Presbyterian. We are very near some gorgeous sights such as The Cloisters, St. John the Divine, Fort Tryon Park, and to such landmarks as the Morris Jumel Mansion and the Apollo Theater.
It is a diverse and vibrant area with plenty of history and charm, a great vantage point from which to explore the whole city.
We are in the food business and in construction. We are happy to help with travel plans and advice on food destinations and more.

This is a remarkably convenient location full of friendly families, beautiful blocks, and very pleasant to live in.
The amount of space, the quality of the original detail and furnishings, the generous outdoor area, the amazing neighbors and the convenience have all made this a great choice for us.
Hello Lauren and Peter The entire Danne Family would like to thank you very much for your welcome. The apartment was nothing but great ( the king size bed was awesome !!). It is a perfect place for a family stay in NYC, close to the subway and not so far from Downton Manhattan. We could enjoy all our activities and visits ( Liberty cruise, Empire State Bldg, Central Park etc and a NY Islanders hockey game in Brooklyn). We even had to buy an additional suitcase to take back all the shopping items that two teenagers and one 5 years old kid can buy during such a stay ..... Many thanks as well to Peter for his kindness and good advices. We will surely recommend to any of our friends that want to visit NYC to use your apartment and we thank you again for having made our stay even more unforgettable (even the heavy rain on the last day was not trouble ....) With warm regards Florence
My family (2 adults, 3 boys ages 8,8, and 6) spent 4 days here at the end of Feb. This apartment was the perfect fit. It is in a pretty vibrant part of town with lots of things to see within walking distance. All the windows are insulated and you get very little outside noise.
The apartment itself is lovely. High ceilings and lots of natural light. Very airy and bright. You would never think you were in a garden level apartment! The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of extra pillows and blankets. The bathroom was spacious and had very nice towels, as well. Everything seemed to be washed in allergen friendly detergent and the entire apartment itself is allergen friendly (hardwood floors, no heavy smells, etc.) There is a well stocked kitchen that made feeding the kids breakfast and snacks very easy (we were out most of the rest of the time.)
The apt has it's own heating and cooling system, so you can control the temperature, which is nice. It has radiant floor heating. We were very comfortable.
The owners live right upstairs and are incredibly helpful and responsive. I would absolutely stay here again and have already suggested to a few others I know are headed this way.
We loved this little apartment. Very comfortable and pretty. About 4 blocks from a subway station, so it was convenient too. Owner was super helpful and nice to work with. Very comfortable bed in the bedroom, and the foldout futon and twin mattress were fine for the kids. We would definitely stay again.
Very clean property, with all services needed. Host were very nice and gave us many tips for the city. Metro was close by. Many small markets near by
Very nice place with everything we needed including a coffee pot! Good communication with owners for access, close to subways, close to Riverbend park for running (or biking). Nice neighborhood. Nice TV with videos. My son watched "The Sound of Music" ! Thanks for the great trip.
Our family of 6 from Australia recently stayed in this beautiful apartment. We had a wonderful stay and found our accommodation to be very comfortable and convenient as a base for getting around Manhattan. There was plenty of room for all of us and it is well equipped for everything we needed. It was nice to have Lauren and Peter around if we needed to ask anything and they were always very kind and helpful.
My mom, sister, and I stayed here while in town to see Hamilton (and, for my mom, to make a first visit to NYC). The apartment is beautiful, large, and comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are spotless and well-equipped--there's even an iron!
The neighborhood is great, too. The house is just a few blocks from two different subway lines and we were able to make it downtown easily and without transfers. We had great coffee and good cocktails within blocks. And best of all, Hamilton's Grange was a five-minute walk away. (Theme weekend!) We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
There is swimming available at nearby Riverbank State Park, and there are amazing bike paths all the way up and down Manhattan. We are very near other attractions including The Cloisters, Abyssinian Church, St. John the Divine, Dinosaur BBQ, several nice local restaurants are available and a great new craft beer bar called Harlem Public.
