Why property managers, Heather Allen/Michaela Bichrest for addl info & booking info chose Portland and Casco Bay Area

My parents completed this spec home in 1992 after my father retired from the Navy. We fell in love with the place, visiting numerous times with our children during the '90's; fishing, going out on lobster runs with my Dad and just relaxing. My parents intention was to pass the property on to their kids. With my Dad's passing, Mom finally reached a point where she could no longer take care of the place alone. We purchased the property in the summer of 2009 as our second home. We have had numerous friends comment on how beautiful the property and area are and expressing a desire to stay. It was then we decided to offer it as a vacation rental so others could share in the beauty & tranquility of this place.

What makes this house unique

Quiet and away from the busy main streets of town but close enough (7-miles) for convenient access for food shopping nd other supplies. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and serene. The neighbors are friendly and very respectful of each others privacy. For us, this place offers a great escape from the day to day stresses of our jobs. This is one of the few places we have ever been that truly allows us to completely unwind and 'recharge'.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We came back to Maine (after 18-years) to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Maine is where we met, got married and our youngest child was born. Thoroughly enjoyed re-visiting some of our favorite places like Maxwell's Restaurant in Bath.

To our hosts of this beautiful place, we say thank you and see you again soon. This place will be our first choice to reserve. Maine will always have a special place in our heart and your home just made it perfect!

Beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place for our vacation. Enough space for everyone. The only downside was the person across the street with the hot rod, turning his engine on at 5am in the morning and running for an hour and carbon monoxide was nauseating that flowed into the master bedroom. Good fishing, could use a bigger dock. Can't wait to come back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback. We apologize for your experience with the neighbor and his car that morning. That scenario is a rarity. On the positive side, we're extremely pleased you enjoyed our home, the amenities and, most importantly, that you can't wait to return. We would love to have you back.

Lovely, peaceful place

I had a lovely, peaceful stay at High View in Harpswell, ME. The house is very comfortable and cozy, and is right on the water, which was beautiful.

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

We have had a great vacation at High View. It was our first time in Maine. We came to see the great fall colors. The house has a wonderful location with stunning sun raises over the water which we enjoyed during early breakfasts right from the dining table. The house is very clean and has lots of space. It is very well equipped. The location is very calm and convenient for sight seeing and for shopping. We can only recommend this place.

Girls getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

I hesitated to write a review because I felt that no one would believe how perfect this place is. First of all, it was beautifully decorated inside, easy to find, the views were fantastic. Everything that we needed was already supplied when we got there and when we needed to go to the store, it was not far away, food places nearby. Very clean and also a garage for those rainy days. I could go on and on but you need to see for yourself. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, as a matter of fact, I have.

Picture Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We came to Maine for our first family (2 grown children & spouses) vacation since the “kids were teenagers”. We usually head south to a beach but decided to try a different locale this year. Highview did not disappoint. The views were spectacular, the house is well stocked, very clean and very well maintained. There are plenty of electronics, games, puzzles to keep everyone entertained but who wants to stay inside when you have a fantastic dock to enjoy? The weather was hot for this time of year but the shade of the trees on the property made it enjoyable. We have never stayed at a vacation rental where such an abundant supply of linens, towels and paper products were provided and the kitchen – has everything you need and then some. Being able to use the “shed” on the dock made for a great fishing experience since we didn’t have to pack up the gear every night. The neighborhood is also great. So picturesque. We met some of the neighbors on our walks and on the water and they spoke very highly of the owner’s family. We brought home tourist literature for the area and passed it along to our friends along with a strong recommendation to stay at Highview – it was picture perfect.

Great view, bright, airy and very comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

We used to have a home in Harpswell so miss the atmosphere and views. This lovely house gave those back to us.

We had a wonderful time in this large comfortable house. Has every electronic convenience: wifi that works very well, TV with DVD player and Comcast cable and a lot more.

The bedrooms are large and comfortable. same for the bathrooms. Lovely dining room with a wonderful view and a large deck with that same view. Kitchen is fully equipped. And there were enough paper towels, tissues, toilet paper provided - not necessary to buy any.

Two things recommended for improvement. A full length mirror. And do something with the button for the downstairs toilet. The other two upstairs are an easy push (normal) but downstairs requires more effort to make it work.

Our two week stay was a fun, great experience. Had friends over for dinner - dining room and table easily accommodated six friends and my wife and I. Before and after we all enjoyed sitting and standing on the deck with its awesome views.

Going down on the dock and float on the water is also wonderful.
