FEATURED ON HGTV's LIVING CHANNEL AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 HOMES - Have you ever wondered what it would feel like living aboard a floating home? Imagine waking to the gentle cradle of a river's current and feeling blessed enough to be able to experience the tranquility of life on the river. Serenity awaits you at our home.
Whether you are a business traveler seeking rejuvenating solitude, a romantic couple looking to rediscover one another, an artist waiting to be inspired again, an adventurer looking to explore God’s country, or a family in need of precious time together, just to share with one another, this is a home-away-from home guaranteed to sooth your soul.
Can you imagine, vision yourself basking in the stillness of the morning sun, stretched out on a cushy lounge chair, drinking a steaming cup of freshly brewed, Northwest coffee from our panoramic floating deck? Breath in the beauty of nature as the sun rises before you reflecting off the tranquil water. Witness the morning routine of our resident otters and beaver as you soak in our second story 'Lookout Tower' spa.
In the evening feel free to defy the darkness by lighting a bon-fire in the custom fire pit, while your line drifts with the river’s current anticipating a tug on your line from a nocturnal channel catfish swimming deep below. Gazing at your pole, your mind congers up visions of pan-fried channel catfish over roasted potatoes, mmm, dinner awaits you.
You will experience nature as never before, without ever leaving our home. The Pacific Northwest is known as Salmon Nation, from the house you can witness these majestic fish throughout the seasons as they breakwater searching to find their way upstream to spawn, fulfilling their life’s destiny. You will hear the Osprey cry out as they call to one another, circling high above, surveying the river for their prey. The Great Blue Herron, Bald Eagle, a variety of Geese, and exotic Ducks are no strangers to our back yard. Come experience river life for yourself.
This is much more than a vacation, it is an opportunity allowing you to take in the beauty of nature. If you had previously considered taking your family on vacation elsewhere, reconsider. You can forget about the theme parks in the big cities with their unavoidable crowds; this is one vacation that you will never forget. Bring your family to the end of The Oregon trail where the real adventure begins.

Married Sept. 8, 1967, we have two children a boy and girl Cody & Corrin, we also have one grandson Jack. We built these homes and retired in the early 2000's from the building industry.
Joyce Crone purchased this house boat in 1995
We have always been drawn to the outdoors, we started water skiing in the late 50's so a home on the water was a natural progression. We thought about buying a sailboat and sailing away into the sunset but after reading all the Readers Digest horror stories we settled on a floating home.
Where else can you get up in the morning and go fishing setting in you easy chair or go for a canoe ride before breakfast.
I booked this for a quick get away for my boyfriends birthday. We both had to stay close in for work over the holiday weekend and the location worked great. It was close enough to everything including family in Portland and Molalla to join us.
Wish we could have stayed all month! I LOVE the house and location! Perfect size, perfect deck, hot tub, kitchen, etc., etc. I can't say enough good things. It was also nice to have Craig, the caretaker, on sight in the marina if we had any questions. Very helpful and polite.
We loved it so much we are now looking for one of our own but I'm sure it will be very hard to duplicate. In the meantime we will definitely be back!
My fiancée found this home on VRBO while we were looking for a spot to have a family vacation for the entire week of our wedding. Many of her family members live in and around the Portland area so having the wedding in Oregon made the most sense. Let me just say the pictures of the house do not do it justice. We really liked it when we saw it on VRBO but fell in love with it the minute we opened the door. We had people coming and going the entire week and everyone just loved the home. We did a lot of running around that week and everything seemed very convenient and in close proximity. I was a pro at finding my way around by the time we left. We met the resident handy man and the neighbors and both we so nice during our stay. With everyone coming and going I will say that one of her cousins was visiting for about 30 minutes and she did say she felt a little nauseous from the movement. She did say she is very sensitive though. No one else had any issues with the movement which is very slight and in my opinion not very noticeable. We also rented the bungalow for several days at the end of the week and it too was so nice. The wedding went off without a hitch and the house far exceeded our expectations. Our goal would be to use the house again each year as an anniversary / family get away.
I will add that there is a set of train tracks at the top of the hill that is used both by freight and Amtrak trains. It was a little startling the first time a train went by but after that it didn’t bother us at all. I don’t think we heard any noise from the road being so far down the hill which made for some very peaceful nights sitting on the deck by the fire. The fire pit was the awesome by the way! Everyone that had the chance to enjoy a night by the fire all wanted to strap it to their car and take it home with them.
I would say no matter what the occasion is, whether it being a family vacation with the kids or a group of friends all chipping in to have a nice house to stay in it will suit everyone’s needs. The kids fished off the dock every single day with the poles that are provided and everyone loved sitting on the deck day and night enjoying the water.
My family of 10 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Floating House; it was beautiful, tranquil and a perfect way to end our trip through Oregon. It is situated perfectly for visits to the coast, Portland, and our favorite jaunt was to Sauvie Island, where we picked the most beautiful, delicious raspberries and blueberries -- a must do in June!!! Our last day we were greeted in the morning by an incredible rainbow - a sign of a found treasure!
We really enjoyed our experience staying in the main house. There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room to be very comfortable. The house was fully equipped and just as pictured. It was beautiful and we enjoyed the gentle rock when a boat occasionally went by but otherwise you really wouldn't know you were actually on the water. The views from all of the windows in the house was amazing especially waking up to a view of the river. This was a great location to drive to the wineries to the south, Portland to the north with all of its activities and great dining. Nothing was more than 20-30 minutes away. We had a wonderful time exploring the area and didn't want to leave. There were grocery stores, etc close by but being on the river you sort of escaped the hustle and bustle of the nearby highway and inner city. I want to bring my family back here for a family vacation sometime. This was a very unique property that I would highly recommend. Thanks Joyce for sharing your lovely floating home with us!
I would highly recommend staying at this property! I was fortunate enough to have stayed at the Main House for 7 days, and hated to leave! Have you ever chosen to stay somewhere based on some photos and reviews, and then found yourself disappointed because things weren't exactly as described? This was certainly NOT one of those times! The entire house is beautiful and was everything we had hoped for, and more! It had everything we needed! The main deck is spectacular, both day and night! Nighttime brought some flying insects with it, but nothing that a fire in our beautiful fire pit couldn't keep away. The ducks and geese came to visit several times a day, too, and we looked forward to seeing them. Watching the sunrise and sunset from the deck, with the water as smooth as glass, was amazing! The location of this house offered us a quiet, and a serenity, that made us feel like we were a lot farther than 20 minutes from a major city!
It was fun to watch people ski and tube down the river and then wait for their waves to gently rock the house. Even though the house moves a bit at times, it is that very motion that lends to the peacefulness and relaxation of the entire experience. Night-time quiet, a fire, and fishing from the deck, could not have been more relaxing!
The property caretaker lives close by and tended to our every need. He was awesome! When we would return from a dinner, sightseeing, etc., fresh firewood would be stacked in our fire pit just waiting to be lit. He was very informative about the area and helped us find our way around. The property owner, Joyce, was also very friendly and gave us great tips on catching the river catfish. It worked! Thanks, Joyce, for everything! I loved this place, and this is one trip that none of us will ever forget.
The minnow was the perfect getaway from our fast paced lives and the perfect break my fiencee and myself needed. It was also our first true "vacation" as a couple and the minnow had such a romanc feel to it. The minnow was designed perfectly for two people to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We even had fun putting pennies on the train track and going back to collect them after the train had run them over (I know sounds juvenile but why not!). We caught a six pound catfish which was delicious. Everything was spotless and Joyce was an amazing host and we can't wait to visit again. We are just so pleased with our experience. Thank you so much!!
