Overview

Photos and Description of this Oakland holiday cabin

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 9

Our cabin is a charming retreat in a native woodland setting. It's in the heart of Deep Creek Lake, offering recreational activities year round. Wisp Ski Resort is 2.3 miles and the lake is a short stroll away. Stay at our cozy hideaway under the stars. In winter you'll find a snow filled wonderland as you relax by the crackling fire. Spring, summer or fall take a swim, explore nature or go boating. Walk to the nearby cafe or stay and have cappuccino on the deck. Take a day trip to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. Our cabin is an accommodating, truly hip, cozy getaway for families and singles. It's the place for a wonderful healthy break at an affordable price.

We will continue to make changes to the property in keeping with a greener world. We would appreciate your insights in creating a 'greener' cabin as well. Here's to a healthy body, mind, planet and lifestyle. We look forward to sharing our cabin retreat with you.

Eco Friendly Living: It's our goal to have the cabin completely renewable(green)and self sufficient, as soon as technology and financing allows(keep renting and we will get there sooner!) Currently we have used eco-paints that do not emit harmful gases. We've furnished the cabin using Craig's list which means most everything is recycled at least one generation. We use renewable products and recycle whenever possible. Water is renewably drawn from our well and heat is enhanced by the fireplace.

A very memorable experience for our family

  • 5 of 5

We had the good fortune of staying in this charming cabin while at Deep Creek Lake this Fall. It was our first time to Deep Creek Lake in the Fall and this charming little treasure was just the icing on the cake. Thanks so much Dale and Sean for letting us experience your little piece of heaven. The cabin was extremely clean and very comfortable and allowed us to experience nature at its best.

Cozy Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and organized. We really enjoyed the hot tub. The fireplace and foosball table really pulled everything together. We would definitely return to this property.

A special mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying in this cabin and we can't say enough about it. The cabin was clean and cozy as usual, and made for a perfect weekend. Looking forward to staying here again next year.

Absolutely charming with great decor & ambiance

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 2 nights and felt like we were transported into another world. We thoroughly enjoyed the unique decor, comforts of home (books, CDs, board games, well-stocked kitchen), stone fireplace and super comfortable bed. We also enjoyed warming up by the outdoor fire pit, relaxing in the hot tub, and walking around the woodsy grounds. The owners were very accommodating when we called with a question. We definitely will return in the future.

Family fun at its best!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to the Deep Creek area and we fell in love. We are a military family with a young toddler- Our trip to Deep Creek served as a time to reconnect as a family after a long deployment. From the minute we arrived at the cabin, our three year old was in a state of excitement with the wild life, the cabin, the bunk beds and activities available nearby. From watching the chipmunks scurry around, roasting marshmallows and even seeing a young bear close by- our son was completely entertained. The cabin is rustic, comfortable and charming. The owners have done a really nice job of decorating it, as well as making sure there are ample appliances for cooking and even herbs, oils, pancake mix- the little things one might forget to bring. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return!

Cozy, but you need to know a few things...

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed a long weekend here for our anniversary and feel that a few things should be clarified for future renters:

1) Parking (and entry) is at the lower level, not at the upper deck level. Wrong assumption on our part, we didn't notice the huge rock by the deck which should have tipped us off! Based a glance at the photos, we thought entry was through what appeared to be the “front” door.

2) Property is only suitable for those fit enough to handle steep steps between the two levels. It is not appropriate for the elderly or small children. Not an issue for most people, just an FYI.

3) The TV/living room is on the lower level, as well as one bedroom (with bunk beds) and the second bathroom. The upper living room has the fireplace.

4) The back deck is very nice – the backyard is quite scenic with rocks and ferns - lovely. There is not a traditional “grass” yard.

5) There is no lake access from the property, you will need to drive. Again, just an FYI.

Map

The landscape is a native hemlock and pine forest with moss strewn boulders and ferns. At nearby Swallow Falls, a 12 minute drive, you can see spectacular waterfalls and Maryland's last stand of old growth hemlock forest with 300 year old trees.

Other Activities: Kayaking, snowboarding, rock climbing, miniature golf
