Lake View Chalet, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-8)
About Shelly Helser
My wife Carrie is a physician's assistant in Winchester & Mt. Sterling Ky. I am a pastor of a local church in Lexington. Carrie graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2001 and I graduated from UK's Physical Therapy Program in 2002. We have one amazing daughter, Christy Ann. Our family lives in Lake Cumberland Resort so you can often find us down at the Lake. We hope our home is a sanctuary for you and your loved ones. We recently turned over management to A Better Rental which has been serving the community for over 10 years. Blessings!
Shelly Helser purchased this Chalet in 2007
Why Shelly Helser chose Burnside
We chose to purchase this home because my (jimmy) family retired from Atlanta to live full time in the Resort. We knew that we would be spending a lot of time at the lake and also wanted to provide a place for our friends and church members to stay when they needed a break from the stress of the world. Lake Cumberland Resort provided that sanctuary needed. It has been a joy to provide a place for friends and family to come and stay!
What makes this Chalet unique
The best part of coming back to our lake house is the rest and peace. Unless it's peak season and the boat ramp is in operation, it's extremely quiet in our gated community. Of course, it's always great to spend time with our family, but we also love the time alone. We especially enjoy the late nights in the hot tub and the late mornings on the deck with coffee in hand. Having a TV and DVD player allows our daughter to watch all her favorite movies while we relax. Above all, we enjoy the walks through the woods. Some of the views here are incredible.

Last minute stay
We had to switch from Hilton head bc of Dorian. We were glad to find a nice place last minute
Difficult to get to.
We enjoyed the house. Very clean. The pool was wonderful. The hot tub was quite enjoyable as well. Appreciated the supplies that were there. The real drawback for us was the twisty road. Would have liked easier access. I recommend this house if you are planning to come and stay. Unfortunately the side trips we planned weren’t as easy to get to.
Great size for a family vacation.
Biggest problem is the snaking road to it. If you're just looking for a peaceful hideaway you can't beat it!
My brother, two sisters and 2 grandchildren took my mother for her birthday to the lake. We all had a great time. The house was clean and was wonderfully stocked. We lacked nothing. Even had amazing weather.
The property was to have an, I assume “operable” hot tub. Upon check in Baylee noted hot tub was not working, said she’d have a repair person on it The next day. I called 3 days later and was told it couldn’t be repaired until the following week. Past our stay. Offered to move us to another property. We’d settled in, moving was out of the question.
If you rent a property with a specific amenity, and that amenity doesn’t work-change location immediately, don’t “offer a move 3 days later. We talked to the folks who rented the house next door, their hot tub didn’t work either. Moving would have been an exercise in futility.
Our credit card was charged when we booked. Upon arrival Baylee pointed out the “rules” of the rental. What a joke. We were charged over a hundred dollars for “cleaning” but were required to wash all dishes, remove bedding and place in bathroom, take all garbage to the disposal place AND clean all bathroom sinks. AND be out by 10 am. What is the cleaning fee for?
I asked for a late checkout on Sunday because of the hot tub fiasco and was offered 2 hours. No thanks, no help. But I’ll never rent from VRBO again.
Location great, unit just okay
Location was the best part of this property. The hot tub was broken and could not be enjoyed by our family. I was told the repair man didn’t know what was wrong with it so they had to wait until it fully broke. I wasn’t offered anything for the inconvenience but I also didn’t complain too much. It was constantly surging, even causing the bedroom lights to dim. The sound was so annoying that we had to unplug it just to be able to sleep. The master bed that I slept in squeaked so bad I felt I didn’t want to move at all. The floor squeaked too because of settling, I believe. Pool stick tips were all broken but one. Supplies were okay, some spatulas, etc were melted when, to me, they could have easily been replaced for cheap. A pizza cutter would have been helpful. Towels and other supplies were suitable. WiFi worked great and the cable was nice with a good selections of movies as well. We couldn’t get the fireplace to work but didn’t care too much because we didn’t need it for heat but just the cool factor. We liked how close the home was to the pool and boat ramp but we will be renting somewhere else within Gate 5 at the Resort.
