Beautiful Beachfront Home

  • 5 of 5

This place feels like someone's home, not just a rental property - beautifully decorated.

The beach access is fantastic with great views from both decks, and the ground level patio with the fire pit and hot tub is top notch. Appreciated this home's off the beaten path location, a few blocks off the main road. Short and pretty drive to historic Fernandina Beach area and Fort Clinch. Great oceanfront golf at the nearby Omni resort. Numerous restaurants nearby (brick oven pizza takeout from Tony's was an easy option our 1st night and delicious). Hope we'll be back!

Wonderful family vacation house with all the expected amenities and much, much more!

  • 5 of 5

We have vacationed in Florida for several weeks in March each year for more than twenty years while I attend a medical legal seminar and have stayed in many different houses on the water and can assure you Pelican Island is by far the nicest home which accommodates at least ten adults and several children. Dan Ward is most helpful and was very responsive to a request for a Aerobed for an older grandson as well supplying a car seat and crib needed for a younger grandson. Amelia Island is a great area and the American Beach was beautiful and Only steps from the house. The hot tub and baths were super and unlike other locations in many Florida water front home had no bug issues such as noseems or mosquitoes. Sightings of various birds, dune turtles and rabbits and a beautiful sunrise were enjoyed by everyone. This house has all the extras you would expect and even an Amazon Alexa was ready to answer questions and play whatever music anyone wanted. I was ready to recommend Dan have available binoculars fir the house but of course we found Dan had them for tenants in a drawer we found the last day. My whole family can not recommend this house more strongly and we all will return again to Pelican Island in the future. Thanks for a great family vacation, Dan!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback and compliments. I appreciate notes and suggestions by guests so that I may accommodate as much as possible. Although the cable offers a variety of music choices I decided to get the Amazon Alexia so that guests could enjoy their specific tastes in music as well as forecasts of the week's weather, etc. A large portion of guests come year after year and they have helped educate me on things that will help them and future guest's. Today's travelers are much different than those a generation ago. I have found they want all the comforts of home along with a few "bells and whistles". Sometimes it's the little things that count the most. A recommendation for future guests is to let me know a week in advance of any special needs. I have lived on the island for ten years and can provide suggestions. Dan

I cannot say enough good things about this place and it's owner. This was our first time back to Amelia in over 10 years and our experience here was absolutely amazing. The house was more than accomodating, well stocked with linens, towels, kitchen utensils, and much more. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful home located on the perfect, quiet beach.

  • 5 of 5

Our week started out cold and rainy but with the hot tub, shark tooth hunting, Infinity available on the TV, fire pit and area activities, our family, including 2 three year olds, found enough to do to keep us happy. When the sun came out even 50 degree weather was perfect. But be prepared for wind! We were glad for warm jackets in the morning!

Having three outdoor levels and living spaces to the house provided a perfect spot no matter what the weather.

The house has great supplies and toys for little ones.

Dan was available immediately when texting and came to the house to make minor repairs fast.

An added bonus was that we were able to watch dolphins off the deck.

This will be a memorable vacation for our grandchildren. Thanks Dan!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this well-appointed house in a great location on American Beach. Unlike may homes we have rented over the years, the kitchen was very well provisioned with most everything one would need for cooking. The decor is beautiful but still appropriate for a beach house. And the landscaping around the house is really special, with palm trees and special plantings that accent the house well. The decks have great ocean views and a walkway to the beach is next door. No neighbors on either side of the house so there is good privacy and the beach is uncrowded. All in all, a really great place that we would not hesitate to recommend.

The October issue of Conde Travel Magazine ranked Amelia Island as one of the top ten destinations for islands in the United States. This article states, 'Whether it's the seemly endless green space or the unbelievable hospitable locals, readers agree that this Florida island is a beautiful, history-filled family location.'

Travel and Leisure Magazine ranked Amelia Island #3 as America's Most Romantic Destination. They state, 'Reader's love this barrier island town most for its parks and quaint historic downtown'.

Every year the Ritz of Amelia Island hosts the Concours d' Elegance which is the largest car show in the eastern United States.

The 12 mile by two mile island offers numerous golf courses, horseback riding on the beach, kayaking along with trails for jogging, running and biking.

The island is one of the oldest settled sites in America and offers town and ghost tours. The oldest bar in Florida, the Palace Saloon, offers evening entertainment along with numerous other bars, such as Amelia Tavern, and several restaurants ranging from waterfront fine dining, to French, Italian, Asian and Mexican restaurants. There are many seafood restaurants on the oceanfront to enjoy the locals catch of the day.

Nearby are several restaurants, the Salt (located at the Ritz), Bar Zin, Cucina South, Verandah, PLAE, Baxter's and Parkway Grill are all located in under a mile away. A personal favorite is David's downtown. It has a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a friendly service-oriented staff and a large menu of gourmet foods ranging from surf to turf.
