Location, Location, location! This property has amazing mountain views, 14,000 square feet of luxurious living space and is a true entertainers home. You can step just 18 steps from our backdoor and be right on the slopes. It's a green run so beginners to black diamond skiers will enjoy this location in Beaver Creek in the exclusive gated community of Arrowhead.
The privacy of this location lends itself to very exclusive family gatherings, corporate retreats, weddings, etc. This home is truly a masterpiece that you must experience! CNBC honored our home in 2010 with the distinction of being one of the TOP TEN SKI HOMES in the USA.
Our stay here included our whole family which was about 15 + people. It accommodated everyone very very comfortably! although they didn't create the views the house was gorgeous. However the wine cellar was off limits. I would highly recommend staying here!!
Our group of seven families has been taking a week-long ski trip for 19 straight years, and this was easily the finest large house we have stayed in. There are fewer than 20 ski houses of comparable size and quality listed on HomeAway and VRBO in the western U.S., and every year, we pick among them. This house easily had enough space for our big group. Most importantly, the kids could entertain themselves at all hours in the play room (pool, foosball, air hockey), fabulous movie theater, grotto, hot tub, and sled hill, while at the same time, adults had room to prepare meals and watch after the young kids. The quality of design, furniture, and construction is appropriate for a $10 million house. Note that the location along the Arrowhead ski run is far away (16 minute drive) from Beaver Creek Village. One can ski to/from there, but it's inconvenient for kids in ski school. That said, Arrowhead is a perfect green/blue run for beginners and intermediates - wide open, perfectly groomed, and safe for slow and fast speeds. Our kids (aged 6-9) spent entire days on this and the Bachelor Gulf lifts; you won't find better beginner runs at BC or any other mountain. Do take advantage of the property managers, who can help arrange discount lift tickets, in-house ski rentals (from Black Tie, who are great), restaurant reservations, shuttles, etc. We highly recommend this property.
This breathtaking house known as "The Castle" is brilliantly thought out and expertly executed. We all still feel like Cinderella after the Ball. What started out as a simple plan for my daughter' s twenty first birthday took on a fairy tale life of it's own, culminating in the happiest stay! We always tease my daughter about being "Queen Alexa", and this stunning home truly made us all feel like royalty. What is most impressive is the fact that not only is this residence magnificent looking, it also works magnificently. It functions perfectly - the enormous spaces are warm and welcoming, and so incredibly well planned that life in this home is fun and effortless. The skiers in our group happily walked just a few steps from the house and onto the slopes, and loved to celebrate the end of the day with a relaxing stay in the hot tub located on one of the many balconies. There really is no need to ever leave this house, because within its four huge levels of space is everything one might need or hope for, right down to a gym, grotto with waterfall, and movie theatre. The kitchen was a dream to work in, with a fabulous granite counter that prompted my daughter to observe: "This is like an island; actually, no, it's a whole continent!" Since we were celebrating an important birthday, we also enjoyed two important additions to our group, Paolo and Sarah, whose chef services were greatly appreciated. Their warmth, willingness, and great humor were the perfect complement to the lovely dinners they prepared. As though all this were not enough, our stay was made even better by meeting the owners, who could not have been lovelier and who even welcomed us with a home made cake! I'm sure they might have had some misgivings about our intelligence, because the sheer size and beauty of their home had the initial effect of reducing our vocabulary to "Wow!!" There are many attractive properties available to rent, and our entire group would like to thank Pamela Smith with Ocean Summit Travel. She had personally stayed at "The Castle" and unerringly guided us to our magical experience, the stuff that dreams are made of!
This is one of the most impressive homes I have ever seen. There are so many things to do in the home that a couple days in not enough to take it all in!
We did a corporate retreat and it was perfect. We had a catered dinner, meetings, and time to relax and enjoy Beaver Creek. This home was a huge hit for the group, they are still talking about it around the office.
Our family of 24 made memories to last a lifetime during our week’s stay at the ‘castle’. The homeowners truly had the gift of hospitality – inviting us to make their home our home during our stay…and encouraging us to enjoy EVERY aspect of their home!
I was concerned that 14,000 sq. ft would be so large we wouldn’t really feel like we were spending the week together. However, the design of the house – even though large – allowed us to interact with each other all the time, and yet there was space to get away if you wanted to.
We have taken many ski trips as a family, but this was the first ‘ski-in/ski-out’ that truly was ski-in/ski-out. We had some who had never skied and those who have skied all their lives – and the ski-in/ski-out worked for each level. How nice to be able to come back, eat lunch, rest a while and then head back out to the slopes and finish the day!
There is so much of the home that couldn’t be enjoyed during the cold weather, that makes us want to come back in the spring/summer and spend time on every porch, balcony and patio! I am sure it would be another wonderful week!
My husband and I, as well as our family, were lucky enough to be the guests of my son, Greg at this beautiful home (castle) perched on the side of the mountain. With magnificent views, and the luxury of seclusion, we were not disappointed. We were fortunate enough to experience an early snow fall that made the vistas indescribable. The aspens appeared to be painted against the snow and the evergreens forced their way up laden with snow. As we looked out the huge picture windows this home has, it looked as if the area were in the middle of a story book-again something very difficult to explain. I only wish I had pictures of my grandson as he was taking it all in. Not to mention the huge mule deer one day that was nonchalantly strolling down the street, taking it all in, looking from one side to the other without a care in the world!
This sprawling home has more than enough space for everyone to find their “special place”. We thoroughly enjoyed the “movie room” with the kids; the “grotto area” after the kids went to bed along with the hot tub perched up on the 4th floor! What a beautiful home. We will keep this on our list when we return! The best thing was the warmth we felt from the owners of this home; we truly felt “mi casa, es su casa”! Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Cliver for sharing your “special retreat”!
