The Center is located along the main route to Monteverde and right now there is a SPECIAL PROMOTION: FREE TOUR of an animal sanctuary, the historic Sustainability Demonstration Center, an Organic Farm, and the surrounding tropical paradise of forest & river! Other special ADVENTURE, CULTURAL, SPANISH LANGUAGE, RURAL, AND NATURAL EXCURSION packages for a unique Costa Rican experience with DISCOUNTS available! Contact us for more details.

Bird-watcher´s paradise. Enjoy the million-dollar view of the Gulf of Nicoya and the mountains from this two-story new cabin in a secluded 5-acre preserve with lots of fruit trees (tangerines, oranges, water apples, grapefruits, bananas, avocado, rose apples, lemons), over 30 medicinal plants, and more-

Casa Cielo is only 15 minutes from Monteverde, 7 mins from Santa Elena.

Situated right off the main road to San Jose (route 606), but nestled in the mountains, it is a 5 minute drive to grocery stores, banks, restaurants, etc.

Enjoy the Cloud Forest attractions during the day, but at night, retreat to the low-land drier and warmer climate and its diverse wildlife.

Wake up to the sound of parrots flying overhead and blue magpies knocking at your window, then warm up with a cup of herbal tea straight from our garden or organic coffee from the San Luis Valley. We provide you with free organic coffee for the first morning of your stay as we are coffee producers in Monteverde and want to make sure you have an awesome start to your first morning with us! If you want to purchase more organic coffee for your stay or to take home, you can order it through our food order form.

Later on, take a walk on the trails and see beauty and biodiversity all around... you could even feed the chickens and fish.

In the evening, watch the amazing sunset from the balcony and curl up in a tub for two.

Less than 2 hours to the beach, 3.5 hours to Volcan Arenal, 30 mins to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and zip-lines, 20 mins to Children´s Eternal Rain Forest, 7 minutes to ranarium, herpetarium, horse-back rides, orchid and butterfly gardens.

The cabin is fully equipped. The first floor features the kitchen with large picture windows overlooking the mountains and ocean. There is a living area, a desk, a washer and a full bathroom. The second floor has a comfortable double bed, a balcony also overlooking the ocean, a romantic bathtub for two, a sofa and coffee table and some storage space. A ladder takes you to an additional sleeping area for a teenager or adult (too dangerous for a small child).

There is wi-fi/internet free of charge. You also have your own phone line with free calls within Costa Rica.

Email us for daily, weekly or monthly rates. We also offer RURAL TOURS.

About veronica sheehan

Alexander was born in the San Luis Valley in the Monteverde region and has lived all his life here. He started working when he was 11 years old helping his father herd oxen to take milk to the local cheese factory. At the age of 15, he began working for the Children´s Eternal Rain Forest, then he worked for InBio (Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad) researching snails all over Costa Rica, he then worked for ProNativas, an non-profit organization that promotes the use of native ornamental plants as a conservation effort. He believes in changing the world one person at a time, starting with ourselves.

Veronica was born in Mexico and spent 25 years in the States. She worked as a biologist, then as a licensed clinical social worker in various settings including private practice with people suffering from chronic physical illnesses and hospice care. She arrived in Monteverde a few years ago with her 5 year old son, Stuart. She founded PAWS costarica (Promotion of Animal Wellbeing Society), a non-profit organization to help educate people regarding the responsible and compassionate treatment of animals. She believes, like Alex, in changing the world from the inside (OUR inside) out. Everything we do, our choices and lifestyles sum up to our current state of affairs… we have the power to choose again so we can heal ourselves, our planet and all living beings.

Their work with their ecotourism business, their Sustainability Demonstration Center, and rural communities helps visitors understand the intimate connection that we have to the land. The entire community gets to benefit from the tourism that comes to this very rural area and get to share their own wisdom. Everyone wins.

Stuart is 12 years old and attends the public school in Guacimal. He shares our family dream of enjoying the simple things and having lots of fun playing soccer and bird-watching.

Our dream is to achieve sustainability in harmony with nature

veronica sheehan purchased this cabin in 2005

Why veronica sheehan chose La Lindora

22 years ago, Alexander bought this land. It had been used for cattle and was pretty devoid of tress. He wanted to reforest it and turn it into a safe haven for birds and animals. He built the cabin 6 years ago. It is now a 5 acre paradise!

What makes this cabin unique

We love the peace and quiet, the sounds of the parrots flying overhead, and of the birds on the trees. We like having lots of space to roam and to plant things. Our animals are happy here too and we enjoy seeing them free and happy. We enjoy eating what we grow. We feel in harmony with nature. We are close to everything, but when we are home we have our privacy and space. There is enough peace that you can relax, renew and reconnect. Being here reminds one of who we truly are and why we are here.

We absolutely loved staying at Casa Cielo for the three nights we were in Monteverde. The cabin was perfect for the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids) and we enjoyed the peace and quiet, as well as the beautiful views. The kids loved sleeping up in the very top of the A-frame - perfect little bed... The cabin is close to Santa Elena and Monteverde and it was an easy drive to get anywhere we wanted. We stopped at the sustainability demonstration centre twice - veronica and family were so welcoming and willing to share their knowledge of the area of their farm. They are wonderful people and made us feel so welcome.

Owner's Response: Once I read that the most important thing one can give the world is our own happy self. And this family was so contented and happy, they were a pleasure to have around. We run the Sustainability Center in Guacimal, near Monteverde, and at times life is so very hectic and overwhelming... having kind, happy people stay with us, makes our job so much easier and helps us continue our work to advocate for the environment, the animals and the people much easier. Thank you!

Paradise in the Cloud Forest

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here 4 nights. We absolutely loved it for multiple reasons. The A Frame style cabin feels very removed and remote, creating a peaceful environment to relax in. The hammock that you can hang on the porch is perfect to watch sunrises and sunsets from. One of our highlights was watching a group of Toucans fly to the different trees around Casa Cielo.

The small mountain town of Santa Elena is only an 8 minute drive away providing opportunities to visit coffee shops, restaurants and a grocery store. There are also numerous ways to explore the cloud forest (zip lines, night hikes, canopy tours, etc.) within 30 minutes of Casa Cielo.

Veronica took excellent care of us and made sure our stay was comfortable and answered any questions we had. Also, if you aren't in the mood to cook your own meals, a neighbor Giselle makes home cooked meals you can purchase. We loved her cooking!

At Casa Cielo you feel like you're away from it all, yet you are on a main road in the area and only minutes away from many conveniences. I highly recommend this place and when we return to Costa Rica we will definitely stay here again. Also, all proceeds from the cabin go toward the great work the Sustainability Demonstration Center is doing for the area's people, animals, and environment.

Owner's Response: We were thrilled to have this couple with us, one of whom was a teacher. We are honored that this very important (teachers are very important people) and busy person took the time to write a review. They came to visit us at the Sustainability Center and it was a treat for us and they too enjoyed seeing the animals and farm. I was touched by the way she spoke about her students and their need for a real connection. We are grateful to all the wonderful people who come by and enjoy the simple pleasures of peaceful, natural living.

Perfect for the Adventurer

  • 5 of 5

Casa Cielo was the perfect location for our family of four looking for our adventure in Costa Rica. Close to Santa Elena for grocery, a restaurant meal or some souvenirs. The location gave us close access to Selvatura Adventure Park for an amazing Zip Line experience, a tour of the Cloud Forest guided by Veronica's brother in law Greivin, horseback riding to the hot springs, the Don Juan Coffee Tour and of course the Sustainability Demonstration Centre. Veronica, Carol, Alex and Stuart were gracious and very welcoming hosts and travel agents giving us detailed advice and recommendations to everything we wanted to do. Be sure to spend some time at the centre to learn all the amazing things this family is doing for the community and the environment. The Saturday market across from the centre is also a great community event to experience traditional food, music and culture. The cabin offered spectacular views and opportunities daily to view wildlife up close. Be sure to take up the offer of Giselle's home cooking. The taste of Costa Rica direct to your dining table. Thank you to Jose also for bringing us to the river for a fantastic private swim in the river.

Owner's Response: It was wonderful having this family with us for the entire week... Often, guests who have very short stays have to choose between one activity or another and must stay within the sights close to Monteverde. This family was able to it all> Monteverde sights and make day trips to the amazing Cortez Waterfall, the Guacimal river, and the beach where all the monkeys are. We were thrilled they came to support the locals on the outskirts of Monteverde where we hold the public market every Saturday... and got to meet our brand new baby donkey, Caroline. It is this kind of family that gives us hope for the world... traveling responsibly and making choices that are good for everyone.
