In the heart of Paris

We had a wonderful week in Michelle’s studio. We are both around 70 and found the stairs a challenge, but being so close to everything is such a bonus. Restaurants, boulangeries, bus stops, Metro all on your doorstep makes a Paris adventure so much easier. Be prepared for some noise from the life outside and others coming home to their studio after a day in Paris. No aircon, but that is Paris.

Latin Quarter studio

Great spot to see Paris on foot, many of its well known sites conveniently located within a 30-40 walk. Area abounds with cafes, restaurants, cinemas. The studio is very small located on the second floor up a climb of narrow stairs. Difficult to negotiate with large suitcases. Studio overall looking very ‘tired’ needs to be updated……floors and carpets dirty, no bottle of wine (as indicated in photos), curtain hanging off curtain rail, washing machine not working, shower cubicle grubby. Would look elsewhere on my next visit to Paris.

Perfect Location

We are a couple in our 60s visiting Paris for the first time. Location: This apartment is the perfect location in so many ways...less than 50 metres from L'Odeon Metro station meant we were minutes to everywhere. But the location is so close to everything, we found we could walk to most of our intended destinations, which did include all the Paris "icons" such as Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Champs Elysees, Notre Dame and more. A taxi rank is also only 50 metres away and the Saint Germain market, patisserie, wine store and small supermarket were only 100 metres. The apartment is surrounded by many cafes, bars and restaurants - and from here you can also 'shop till you drop". Facilities: Michelle provides almost everything. Free telephone calls, free Internet/WiFi, television (but who watches when on holidays), washer/dryer, dishwasher, even some provisions such as toilet paper, soaps, coffee, tea and a complementary bottle of wine. The shower is wonderful. The only issues we encountered were a lack of hanging space for clothes and cupboards which were only reachable via a step ladder which is inconvenient. Other reviewers have highlighted this but you must be aware that the apartment is on the second floor and (as we are on an extended European holiday), we struggled with our luggage. Other reviewers have mentioned a noise issue from a bar downstairs - but we can report, that as of September 2015, the bar is closed and appears to have relocated further into the Latin Quarter. We slept with the window open every night and whilst there was the neighborhood noise from cafes etc, we had no issue at all. The apartment also comes with a sofa bed although we reckon that 4 people would find it a tight squeeze. The space is compact but Paris apartments are small and we spent most of our time out and about. In summary; the description of the apartment is accurate, the service provided by the owner is very good as is the email communication - we even spoke by phone beforehand which provided a good level of comfort as one is handing over the full payment prior to commencement. The price point is good value - we think Michelle could charge more after a 'refresh' of the apartment.

Location, Location, Location!!

This is in a fantastic neighborhood! It gets noisy late at night on the weekends from the restaurants, but the location is worth it. 2 flights of stairs, but my 81 year old mom had no problems. There is an Epic grocery store a 5 minute walk away that had everything we needed.

Whether you are walking in between the ancient buildings down the narrow streets dotted with historical markers, browsing at the boutique shops which all look like a “museum” of their specialties, or mixing in with the college profs and students in a café nearby, do slow down and enjoy the aroma of the buttery pastries, listen to the surrounding melodic voices, watch the people embrace and kiss, and sink yourselves into the true Parisian life.
Staying at our studio, the Carrefour de l'Odéon is your own living room with so many choices of people watching spots, just a couple of steps from your door. And in line to dine at the renowned Le Comptoir is never an issue!

What makes this property unique

The mezzanine provides a separate sleeping quarter that is private and cozy. It is actually a big plus for a compact size studio, as you can slip into the living room with your coffee in the morning without having to look at a messy bed. ;-)
