John and Melanie Peters are the happy owners of the Renegade Golf Chalet along with Melanie's sister Suzanne Moore. We reside in Decatur, Al, but we love the time we spend at our chalet. We have just finished an extensive and exhausting renovation of the property and we look forward to sharing it with our rental guests.
John Peters purchased this chalet in 2009
We chose to buy on Renegade Mountain because of the secluded, but secure nature of the mountain location (elevation 2550 ft)in a gated community. The presence of the Renegade Golf Course at the top of our mountain and the close proximity to Fairfield Glade and many other golf courses and state parks also played an important factor in our choice of properties. Even though our Chalet is in Crab orchard, we are members of Fairfield Glade and our guests can enjoy all the benefits as Fairfield Glade guests, including special golf rates.
We enjoy the feeling of total isolation in our chalet, even though it is close to many golf courses, restaurants, shopping, and state parks. Day trips to Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg are also a great way to spend our leisure time. Our co-owner, Suzanne Moore, loves to visit all the wineries in the area to sample their wares. Since the roads are all curvy, nobody can tell how many samples she actually had.
We rented this Cabin in April 2017 as we were attending a family wedding. I cannot speak to the area much, as it rained the entire time we were there. So all we did was attend the wedding. However, the property is very well kept and was very well supplied. Anything you could need was there! It was very clean and extra's like paper towels and toilet paper were included. There was even bottled water in the refrigerator. Not sure if it was left there or Mr. Peters supplied it. They also supplied very nice spa towels for use with the hot tub. Due to the rain, we did not use the hot tub, but the towels were great to dry off from the rain. Mr. Peters was very nice to work with and our deposit was returned promptly. I could not begin to say enough nice things about the property and Mr. Peters. If in the area we would stay there again. A word of caution - We have lots of electronic devices and were in a 2017 car with GPS. The GPS indicated that it found it and we followed it. When we got close to the property it took us down a bad road and we almost got stuck twice. So... follow the directions that he sends you and you will be fine. The gravel road that you travel on is very short and was not a problem.
Thank you Mr. Peters and your maintenance folks for such a pleasant experience!!! We appreciate it!!
This is a great place to stay. Don't let the curb view fool you, the appeal is in the woods. The wrap around deck with hot tub, and full wall of windows. The guest house is more like a master bedroom, and upstairs is very cute. All the amenities you need for an enjoyable week.
Owners pay extra attention to details. The kitchen is very well stocked. The sheets and towels are hig quality. The hot tub is fantastic. Lots of sleeping space.
This house was just beautiful!! Very clean and had everything you could need!! We were so impressed and enjoyed it so much! Made our family get together that more special!!
The cabin and guest house were perfect for our group of 5 adults, an infant and a dog. Weather wasn't perfect, with a lot of rain and a bit chilly, but the accommodations were cozy. The hot tub was a quick step out the door. TV worked fine, as did the wifi. We couldn't get the fireplace in the main cabin lit, but we didn't try too hard. Having two large table was convenient, especially for a large Christmas meal. The Christmas decorations were a nice touch. Our GPS got verbally confused several times on the way up the mountain, but we just kept following the visual map it displayed and drove right to it. We might return someday in better weather to try some of the local golf courses.
Renegade Golf Chalet is located in close driving distance of a number of fine wineries, most of which provide free samples to those knowledgeable of the culture of wines. If you sample very many new wines, you might need a designated driver to get you back up the curvy Renegade Mountain Parkway to the chalet.
