About Dave Humke

Janet and David Humke own properties in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Louisiana that are primarily rural and for the outdoor lovers. They have an internet business and live 50% of the time in Colorado and 50% of the time in Oklahoma.

Dave Humke purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Dave Humke chose Council Hill

We like the southeast Oklahoma area (Green Country) and especially like the easy access to the lake and the rural environment. The acreage is beautiful with plenty of grass, trees and view of Lake Eufaula. It is also close to I-40 for easy access, but not so close it interferes with the peace and quiet.

What makes this cabin unique

Privacy with plenty of fishing, hunting, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

Made great Memories

  • 3 of 5

Loved the opportunity to spend time with my 4 sisters in this big house!!!! it was a little hard to find though! Good thing Dave(the owner) was available to take my call while I was searching for the right turn off!!! it was getting late and dark!! the property is very peaceful with views of rolled hay in each direction. no lake view!! we walked to the end of the pasteur and found no way to the Lake. you have to drive there and thats confusing as well. the house is large enough! air worked well too. there had been some construction in the house that left sawdust everywhere. i guess they forgot to sweep and mop. no big deal!! the toilets need to be replaced with newer ones not rusted!! its an old house and needs a lighting update!! especially in the kitchen. there have been some aparent upgrades to the house though. overall our stay was comfortable. Very nice home for the price. Access to the water. Lots of room to explore.

Hunters and fishermen will love it. Nice rooms in the house. Lots of room for the kids to run around. It’s an older home. Far enough from civilization to get away, but 10 minutes from Walmart and bait store if supplies are needed.

Good Points and Bad Points

  • 2 of 5

I loved the location even though it was more remote than I realized. It is a good place to get away from everything. However, there were some negatives that were bad enough that we left the place a day early. First, the house had rooms that had large quantities of dead bugs. Second and more importantly, when we arrived, the house had an overwhelming smell of moth balls, which made it hard to breathe and sleep. The linens also had that smell, and since it was too cold to open the windows and air out the place, we had to endure the odor. Third, the fish pond was either devoid of fish larger than minnow size or they were nowhere to be seen which disappointed my kids who had looked forward to fishing there.

Those three things are easily fixable, so I hope the owner of the property takes care of those issues, because the house could be an incredible place to spend a relaxing weekend.

Great get away

  • 4 of 5

We took a long weekend to do some fishing and just enjoy getting outdoors. This was a great place to get back to after being on the lake all day. Sitting outside on the deck and cooking on the grill. Spending time playing games in the evening. There was plenty of space and the beds were great. The kids also enjoyed all the space and the ponds on the property.
