About Ed White
My family loves Primehook Beach. The kids are growing up and their busy schedules keep us from going to the beach for the summer. I am a retired police detective and now own several small real estate related companies. We hope you will make this your home away from home.
Ed White purchased this Cottage in 1998
Why Ed White chose Prime Hook Beach
This is a natural beach with no retail, hustle or bustle. This beach is a secret! We are close to all of the touristy resorts like Lewes, Rehoboth, Bethany, Dewey, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City. We are about 20 minutes from the Cape May Ferry (even though you can watch it cross the Delaware from the Beach House), and about 20 minutes from the Casino in Harrington. The best part of our beach, when you are here, nothing seems close until you leave. We have internet if you dare!
What makes this Cottage unique
Our beach house is located directly on the beach. You can watch the abundance of wildlife as nature intended. There are no crowds...just wildlife and nature at its best!

peace and calm on the delaware bay
My family of four and 2 terriers had a wonderful week at this cottage. For us, the best things about this property were its location right on the beach and the fact that it was truly pet-friendly. In that regard, it was the best property we have ever stayed in because it was totally suited to having pets without sacrificing cleanliness, furnishings etc. In our experience, "pet friendly" either means settling for well-worn, semi-clean rental properties, or places that are not really pet friendly as they "require" owners to crate, to never leave pets alone, only allow pets under a certain weight, keep them off of furniture , etc.
The beach was beautiful to wake up to every day and the privacy and small community supported the vacation as an opportunity to re-connect with the family. The only bummer that took some adjusting to was the damage to a window that had been done by previous tenants and was not repaired during our stay. There was a significantly gruesome smashed and duct-taped large window in the main room with the view of the beach that challenged us, both in the mechanics of our moving about the room so that we wouldn't inadvertently lean into it, as well as in absorbing the overall aesthetic hit that it made in the space. Ed greeted us as we arrived and let us know about it and I had had the impression then that it was going to be resolved during our stay. It wasn't, which is understandable in terms of ordering new window etc., but I never heard from Ed about it after that first day. I also had to solicit information from the property manager about it ; scheduling the measuring, the possible replacement timing... In the scheme of the life of the rental property, this may seem like a small speed bump. For us, having paid out a substantial amount of money for our only week vacation of the year, and because it was such a significant physical circumstance than what we were expecting, it was disappointing not to get some attention and follow through from the owner and/or property manager about this. It by no means ruined the vacation, but I thought it worth mentioning. I also agree with a previous renter's feedback that the second bathroom could be explained better in the listing. It was in the cement storage shed so not something that I or any members of my family used except to rinse off sandy feet.
Peaceful paradise
If you are looking for somewhere to escape all of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, spend old fashioned quality time with family and friends, reconnect with nature, relax, explore or any combination thereof, this is the place!! The cottage provides everything that you will need to enjoy your stay. The ONLY negative would be the flies. So, plan on that. But we immersed ourselves in the beautiful sunrises, fires on the beach at night and being out on the water or fishing in between and all of our stress and cares vanished! My dog Bruno loved playing in the surf and investigating the horseshoe crabs. Since the beach is private, there was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy! The owner Ed is very friendly and called to check on things as well as make himself available for any questions that we had. The wilderness preserve is home to lots of birds and animals. We even got to see a huge turtle crossing the road! The hardest part of the trip was leaving!! We will definitely be back.
fabulous!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Ed is very responsive and will address any needs that arise. We loved how you can just walk out the door and be on the beach. It meant we could take breaks from the sun, use the bathroom, and get snacks in the house really easily.
Amazing, private beachfront getaway!
We had an amazing time on our first trip to Prime Hook. The owner was gracious and helpful. He reached out to us at booking and on day of check in. The house was spotless with white linens and towels. The screened porch was a terrific spot for breezy meals and relaxation. We had so much fun on the beach - basically all alone except for the birds, horseshoe crabs and dolphins. At the owner's suggestion, we enjoyed bonfires on the beach and appreciated that he left wood. Our sons enjoyed swimming, flying kits and collecting seashells. It is a pristine location surrounded by a spectacular wildlife refuge. We can't wait to go back!
Extremely relaxing!!
The home is very comfortable and the area is very quiet. It was nice to walk along the beach and see the beautiful sunrises right from bedroom window or on the beach.
Wonderful Waterfront
The house was clean and cozy.It certainly lived up to expectations. The kitchen had everything you could want including a tea maker!Places never have a tea maker! Enjoyed walking on the beach and flipping horseshoe crabs!Watching the ships from the porch was fun.Being right in Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge was amazing! We came for a weekend of birding and were not disappointed! We saw eagles ,ospreys, herons, egrets. cardinals, avocets, purple martins, stilts and all kinds of gulls! Sunrise over the water was beautiful! We had a terrific time!
