This charming home in the heart of Asheville recalls the elegance of bygone days. The ground floor has a full 1250 square feet of private space, including 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room with sleeper sofa, and a large, fully equipped kitchen and dining area.
Green Gables of Asheville, restored by the Interior Designer/Owner, features high coffered ceilings and original period details throughout. Each of the two large bedrooms has its own wood-burning fireplace and seating area. The living room, furnished with the comfortable elegance of 1920's period antiques, features a third fireplace and a large flat screen with high definition cable TV and DVD player. There are beautiful antique chandeliers, ceiling fans, and restored heart-of-pine wood floors throughout.
The large second bathroom (en-suite master bath) features twin lavatories, a shower, and a deep soaking tub in a separate alcove with an antique stained glass window and candle sconces on the tumbled-travertine walls. The porcelain floor tiles are heated. Plug cell phones and computers directly into special wall outlets for recharging.
Green Gables is CLOSE TO EVERYTHING – so take a break from sightseeing or shopping to relax on the huge wrap around porch. Sit in the romantic swing that overlooks the gardens or dine al fresco, and watch the dozens of birds that frequent the bird feeders all day long. The porch is the place to gather on balmy summer evenings to watch the moon rise and to soak up the relaxing, candlelight atmosphere.
Maps and activity guides are provided to help you plan your days and evenings. The home is provided with every convenience – soaps, shampoo and luxury towels, cable TV and CD player (IPod ready), lots of board games, entertainment libraries, wireless high-speed internet, unlimited long distance telephone, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with outdoor gas grill, cribs and high chair for babies, and luxurious linens and pillow-top mattresses that promise a restful night’s sleep.

Shoppers will love the boutiques and the charming, eclectic shops. Many antique stores and warehouses are located less than 10 minutes away – an antique hunter’s paradise with bargains galore. You can walk (15 minutes) to a great organic grocery store. The area is also great for sports enthusiasts. It's a 15-minute walk to one of the best clay tennis courts in the US and a 10-minute drive to the nearest golf course. Great biking - level bike paths near the house (including Biltmore Estate bike paths), and hilly terrain in town and on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is even a skateboard park within walking distance.

The elegant and luxurious designer fabrics are all washable, pillows and cushions are slip-covered. The sturdy antique furniture has been selected to withstand use. Excellent facilities for day care and summer camp programs are located nearby.
We had a great time at Green Gables! Finding accommodation for a 10-month-old & two dogs isn't easy, and this was a perfect spot close to downtown, the Biltmore, and the NC Arboretum. Thanks again!

What a lovely house!
Georgia was very accommodating, even bringing fresh bread as soon as we arrived. We were doing a 2 week tour of NC to visit family and friends and this was our last stop(for a week) Having a dog was a big decision maker. He had the run of the fenced in front yard which made it more relaxing for us.
The house is very well equipped even though we tended to go "out" most of the time. It was an easy walk to town and the River arts district. If we didn't want to walk it was a short mile to drive.
The beds and linens were top notch(especially liked the heated bathroom floor!)
It was nice having a large front porch to sit on after our days out.
We will definitely be staying at Green Gables on our next trip to Asheville. I would highly recommend.
We were delighted to find a beautiful dog friendly house that is convenient to everything we wanted to do on our Asheville weekend. Carrier and French Broad River Parks were perfect for long dog walks, plus has a dog park where they got to make new friends. We enjoyed lunch at the Wicked Weed and an afternoon shopping at the River Arts District. Easter Sunday at Biltmore topped it all off, our dogs enjoyed a day exploring the beautiful grounds there. Back at Green Gables, we made use of the large wrap-around porch, the fenced in yard where the dogs could play, and the well-appointed house/kitchen that allowed us to cook in and relax between outings. We'd love to come back again! Thanks for everything, Georgia.
Beautiful and tasteful older home. Georgia, the host was very helpful and welcoming, even with our dog. We are a family of 5 adults and were very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
Great location! Very close to downtown and close to the Biltmore. Clean, quaint, and cozy!
We highly recommend this rental for many reasons--beginning with "what you see is what you get." No surprises between the beautiful photographs and the beautiful home you will find--perfectly appointed, everything you could need or want to be comfortable, and within distance of Biltmore and downtown Asheville. We absolutely loved feeling "at home," with 5 adults and two dogs over Thanksgiving. Had everything we needed to prepare a complete Thanksgiving dinner and enjoy our time together. Owner is most welcoming to people and pets (with special treats, quilts and blankets just for our furry ones) and, a bottle of wine, for us. We loved her and loved this rental. Shall return. Definitely!!
Our immediate family decided to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday in Ashville. The chosen rental unit proved to be a perfect setting for this celebration.
Before our departure, the owner was invaluable in providing important information about the area and the weather. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by the owner who had also arranged for several items to commemorate my wife's birthday.
Our party consisted of a total of 7 people--5 adults and 2 children. The 5 adults slept on the 2 regular beds and the pull-out couch, while the owner provided a playpen for the younger child (1-year old) and a shorter mattress for the older (5-year old). With 2 full bathrooms and a fully-appointed kitchen, this rental unit comfortably met our needs. The house also comes with WI-FI and cable, and the front porch provides some spectacular views.
While in Ashville, we spent the daytime seeing some of the local sights, but it was convenient to come back to the house and relax as a family at the end of the day. With the younger kids, it was nice to order take-out food from several of the local restaurants and bring that back to the house for an informal dinner.
At the end of our family reunion, we were all happy that we had chosen this area and house for this celebration--especially the kids. The owner was a pleasure to work with and provided us with a lot of good info. I highly recommend this rental property.
