Very rustic cabin nestled deep in the woods of Maine. My family and I loved the quiet, natural surroundings . Our dog enjoyed the freedom of the outdoors and swimming in the lake. Would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises .
On the water. Literally.
This is what we expected and wanted. Quiet. Unfussy. Well-priced. It's your typical Maine camp, keeps the bugs out, room for folks to snooze, AND on the friggin' water. Faces East so you get morning sunlight and afternoon shade. Kitchen allowed us to cook every meal, a gas grill was on the deck and a normal sized fridge with freezer worked well. Yeah, loons are crazy sounding especially when they're 50ft away out the front windows. Boat traffic was few and far off. (6 days, a boat occasionally each day and only two jet-skiis 1/2 mile away.) Coffee on the deck in the morning, an adult appropriate beverage whilst tubing in the afternoon or early evening. Bring binoculars and hiking boots for when you get tired of hanging out on the water. There is great birding in the area as well. Absolutely a great place for a vacation!
Location Location Location!
If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet spot to relax and don't mind a rustic cabin this is the place for you. We had a wonderful stay and our dogs loved swimming in the lake. We'll be back!
This should not be rent-able!
We are disappointed to report that this was the worst VRBO rental that we have ever stayed at. The photos of this place seemed like we would be staying in a rustic camp, but unfortunately, we were staying in an unsafe, unclean, run-down cabin with a leaking roof, rotting floors and crumbling foundation. We were totally prepared for rustic, but not for cobwebs and bugs upon arrival. The roof of the bedroom was covered in inches of moss on the exterior and when we had a brief rainstorm, water was dripping through the roof onto the bed. There were ants in the home and it was clear that they were able to make their way in through small holes around the sliding door and in the bedroom. The base under the linoleum in the bathroom was rotting and you could feel the hole forming in the floor in front of the toilet. One review mentions that the electrical in this home was unsafe - I assumed that it might be slightly out of date, but what we found were extension cords running under throw rugs to provide electricity to other rooms and unsafe electrical conditions in the kitchen. Upon arrival, there were leaves and pine needles all over the run-down and ripped outdoor furniture (I understand that some of is may have recently fallen, but this was more than a few days worth of collecting) There were pool noodles, a tube and the empty box from the tube strewn on the ground, none of which looked like it had been touched in weeks. My husband and I would absolutely LOVE to own a lakefront property (and this is certainly a beautiful location). We rent places all over Maine to experience our dream a few weeks out of the year. It is so disheartening and sad, that someone who owns a property like this, does nothing to maintain it and preserve it. To say the least, we are very disappointed and would not recommend this rental to ANYONE.
We are dumbfounded. So much of this is just not true or I guess some people see through different eyes. 3 different renters since have loved it! I plan to post pictures July 27 to clarify some of these issues. Also send us a message so we can give a detailed response. Leak has been taken care of once we knew about it. There is no crumbling foundation because there is no foundation. The lawn chairs are not run down and ripped and when you are directly under a huge pine you get lots of debris at that time of year. Often looks like a snow storm — and was cleaned hours before your arrival. Yes there ants around, and flies and spiders. Ants are in homes old and new here in the woods and we are hesitant to use pesticides so close to the water. Our friend down the road has a new home and had ants too! Don’t understand the unsafe electrical and I would love to be shown the extension cords under throw rugs?? I am not sure where you would’ve liked the tubes and noodles to be guess I thought near the dock was appropriate. And finally the bathroom floor. Yes in front of the toilet the floor is soft. It was replaced 2 years ago and thanks to renters leaving the shower curtain out of the shower it again needs replacing but illness prevented that before this season. I sincerely wish you had come up to the house and shared these concerns in person. In over 15 years of renting, this is a first.
Rustic! Houseboat feel! Not for babies or children!
This is a very cool spot right on the water that makes you feel like you’re on a house boat. Gorgeous. The biggest issue I had was that the running water was lake water. They provided drinking water but the shower was not satisfying. It’s a walk from the cars to the house which was fine by me but probably not for everyone. The location is about an hour from Acadia. The blueberries were amazing.
Lovely, rustic setting
This was a great location at a great price for our vacation that included exploring Acadia National Park. While exploring in the area we were fortunate enough to find the best lobster rolls we've ever had. The cabin included all the necessities and was comfortable. Yes, it would have been better if the parking was closer to the cabin, if the water from the faucets was potable, and if there was a bit of a sandy beach from which to enter the beautiful lake. Many thanks to Karen for the 'welcome munchies' that were provided.
