Renovated Train Station on Thoroughbred Horse Farm

Bedrooms 2
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Farmhouse, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Come stay in our newly renovated 1890's train station in the heart of the bluegrass.

We are on a working thoroughbred horse farm right off Paris Pike, one of the most scenic areas in all of Central Kentucky. Drive by Gainsway and Elemendorf farms on the way to Claiborne farm. 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park, Fasig Tipton, close to Keeneland and the Lexington area attractions.

Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890-1950, it still has the original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and much of the original molding. In its heyday it included a post office, livestock loading platform, general store and blacksmith's shop. You can read more about the station house in 'Ghost Railroads of Kentucky'. Many of the original families still live in the area.

Area activities include a 9 hole golf course within walking distance, and a short drive to many 18 hole courses, horse farm tours, historicl sites including Shakertown, Mary Todd Lincoln House, Henry Clay Estate, Civil War battlefields and much more.

We have easy access to I75 & I64 and are located 1/2 way between Lexington and Paris.

Comfortable Place in Horse Country

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice, comfortable get-away in the middle of horse country. And Paris is close enough to Lexington (and a beautiful ride) so everything there is easily accessible.

The house was clean and well decorated and very comfortable.

My girls loved watching the foals in the field. The house was a quiet and comfortable place to come "home" to after a busy day.

LOVE this place!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed here previously, and couldn't wait for our German friends to experience it. The station is super clean and feels so inviting when you open the door with fresh flowers and homemade cookies awaiting. Steve is so enjoyable to speak with and is always accommodating in any way possible. Sadie and John George are also the greeters when you park your car! The station is conveniently located to the KY Horse Park and several bourbon distilleries on the tour. And Windy Corner for breakfast just a few miles down the road has the absolute BEST biscuits we all have ever eaten. Can't say enough great things about the station, it's the best place to relax with friends after a day of sightseeing - the lightening bugs outside were pretty amazing too!

My 90 y/o mother, wife, and myself had the privilege of renting this fine property in the first week of June. If you have read the other reviews concerning this property then I can certainly attest to their positive reviews and comments. The place is easy to find and centrally located just off of Paris Pike on Hutchinson Station Road midway between the cities of Lexington and Paris. Its' convenient location allows easy access to the attractions found in the area. Steve and Lisa Parkes are very accommodating and gracious hosts who aim to please their guests any way they can. If any issue ever arises during a stay they may be depended upon to promptly resolve it in a friendly and efficient manner. The property itself was found to be clean and comfortable with a full pantry of kitchen cookware and appliances supplied for those who prefer to cook and dine in. Overall, our stay at this location was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We were very impressed with the simple charm and elegance of the property. If you especially enjoy horses then this is the place to be!!

The perfect place to relax.

  • 5 of 5

It was our privilege to stay in this fantastic vacation rental three nights. Words cannot express the beauty and restfulness we experienced. Lisa and Steve was very gracious and made us feel welcome. Even the two charming donkeys next to our house as well as the horses and sheep was outgoing. I only give this place the highest ratings and hope that some time in the future we can return for another visit.
