Photos and Description of this Stowe Hollow holiday cabin

Vermont Cabin Rental: Rustic Luxury 1 BR + Loft Sleeps 5

Goldilocks cabin is a cozy retreat for a romantic getaway, and ideal for small families as well. The cabin is on 4 wooded acres, but just 1 mile from Stowe village, eight miles to Mt. Mansfield and skiing, and just a few miles to the Pinnacle, one of the most spectacular hikes in Vermont.

Goldilocks cabin is well appointed with Black Forest and French antiques, hand loomed rugs, and antler chandeliers--the perfect combination of rustic and luxury. The piping hot wood stove and the chiming cuckoo clock make this cabin a cozy retreat after a day of hiking or skiing. The large master bedroom has an antique four poster bed, complete with a sumptuous mattress, and a sitting alcove with a sleeper sofa. The sleeping loft (a favorite of older children) is accessed by a ladder and has a full size bed. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room as well. The cabin has two decks and a gas barbecue, and a fire pit.. Goldilocks is pet-friendly. Well behaved, approved pets are always welcome.

Guests often mention our attention to detail as one of the many reasons this cabin exceeded their expectations. Goldilocks cabin is just right.

Amenities: Wifi, well appointed kitchen with dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker and a gas stove. Dining area seats 6. Laundry room with washer and dryer. Wood stove. Television. CD player, VCR. Two decks, barbecue, and mud room for ski storage. Approved pets OK. Will consider 2 night stays mid-week. Please inquire.

Activities: Minutes from skiing, miles of snow-shoeing, and cross country skiing, biking, hiking, fishing. Close to town and shopping. Six restaurants within a two mile drive. Great antiquing around Stowe, Farmer's market. Burlington is a 35 mile drive.

Area: One mile from Stowe village. On 4 acres. Close to shopping, restaurants, hiking, skiing.

About Jill

I am an interior designer living on Nantucket. I am married to a tug boat captain, and we very much enjoy the balance of having both the mountains and the ocean in our lives.

Jill purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Jill chose Stowe

Goldilocks was originally the ski cabin of the principal designer at the interior design firm where I was then employed. We had great fun decorating the cabin on buying trips to New York, and the Paris Flea Market, and at our favorite Vermont antique stores. The draperies were all custom designed for the space, and the rugs were all hand loomed at the Weaving Room on Nantucket Island. All the accessories hand-selected with care. The result is the perfect cozy retreat, down to the chiming cuckoo clock, and the crackling wood stove. I have so many great memories staying at Goldilocks, it has always held a special place in my heart. When my boss decided she needed a bigger space, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase the cabin, turnkey. We fell in love with Stowe, and with Goldilocks cabin.

Goldilocks got it right!

  • 4 of 5

Cute as a button and comfortable as you can get....very cozy. Best nap I've had in years. Great location for doing absolutely nothing! or, close enough to 3 different ski resorts to ski your life away!!

If you've never rented a property before you really should try this one. Great place, great owner, great...Go ahead. Take the 'plunge' and rent this one now before it is all booked up.

Fantastic cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Very impressed with the cottage. Great location for the Stowe area. The cottage has great personality. Our only problem is that we regret that we had to leave and return home. We used the contact sheet when we had questions, and the people listed were available and very responsive.

Cozy Cabin One Mile From Stowe Village- Has it all!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Goldilocks Cabin. Beautifully decorated with every creature comfort imaginable- coffee maker (and a gift basket with coffee), pots and pans, basic condiments for cooking, AC window units, extra fans and blankets. Owner, Jill, has thought of everything. The cabin is one mile from Stowe Village. We spent the days hiking the trails with our dogs, mountain biking The Rec Path and spent the evenings dining out in several fine places in town. We also highly recommend a drive to Waterbury to The Hen of the Wood for dinner. Make a reservation well in advance and, if in summer, sit outside. This place is a contender for "best restaurant" in our book. We fell in love with summertime in Stowe and loved having the cozy cabin as our homebase. Jill emailed us to check in and made sure we had event thing we needed. We loved the privacy and accessibility to town. We will be back! Lina and Jimmy. Wyckoff, NJ

Relaxing, interesting and fun

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Goldiliocks cottage for a week. The cabin is nicely decorated and well-stocked, with plenty of room for 4 people. Goldilock's location is ideal...a quiet place within a short drive of beautiful Stowe and several mountain hiking, walking and biking trails. Downtown Stowe has many wonderful restaurants, too many to try in just one week. Black Cup Coffee and Cafe on Main for breakfast, Harrison's, Doc Ponds, Trattoria La Festa for dinner are the ones we enjoyed. Additionally, Jill was extremely helpful from the time I reserved the cabin and throughout our stay. Several of our activities were suggestions she emailed me before and during our trip. Good times!!

Clean, comfortable and rustic cabin in beautiful green Vermont

  • 5 of 5

Our family (including an infant and black lab) had a wonderful time at the Goldilocks Cabin. The location was great and we all fit comfortably in the house. Our dog loved the yard and we enjoyed spending time on both patios. The kitchen was equipt with everything you could need and Jill made our stay enjoyable and convenient. We would definitely love to stay here again on our next trip to Stowe!

The Goldilocks Cabin a great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Goldilocks cabin. The privacy and to be able to have our dogs with us on vacation made our stay so pleasurable. The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is wonderfully decorated and homey (the Wi-Fi worked flawlessly and allowed us to keep up with the world as we vacationed). It is also close to Stowe where you can find fine dinning, shopping and the ski museum.. The car ride up the mountain (108) and into the notch was great along with a country ride north on 100. It is beautiful country. We strongly recommend this cabin for a stay near Stowe.

Stowe has wonderful hiking trails, both easy and challenging. There are miles and miles on bike paths for biking and Rollerblading. In the summer there are open air concerts, golfing, fly fishing, hot air balloon rides. There are many beautiful lakes nearby for hiking, canoeing or fishing.Numrrous swimming holes, Stowe is known for its great restaurants, many to choose from just minutes away. There are two spas in Stowe, the Stowe Flake, and Top Notch—both wonderful. There's lots of antiquing in the surrounding areas--and prices in Vermont are quite reasonable. For a day trip choose from Burlington, Montpelier or Montreal.

Stowe is known as the Aspen of the North, and the mountain is recently been improved with new runs, lifts, and world class shopping. There are hundreds of miles of trails for cross country skiing or snow shoeing, and of course ice skating as well.
