Vermont Cabin Rental: Rustic Luxury 1 BR + Loft Sleeps 5

Goldilocks cabin is a cozy retreat for a romantic getaway, and ideal for small families as well. The cabin is on 4 wooded acres, but just 1 mile from Stowe village, eight miles to Mt. Mansfield and skiing, and just a few miles to the Pinnacle, one of the most spectacular hikes in Vermont.

Goldilocks cabin is well appointed with Black Forest and French antiques, hand loomed rugs, and antler chandeliers--the perfect combination of rustic and luxury. The piping hot wood stove and the chiming cuckoo clock make this cabin a cozy retreat after a day of hiking or skiing. The large master bedroom has an antique four poster bed, complete with a sumptuous mattress, and a sitting alcove with a sleeper sofa. The sleeping loft (a favorite of older children) is accessed by a ladder and has a full size bed. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room as well. The cabin has two decks and a gas barbecue, and a fire pit.. Goldilocks is pet-friendly. Well behaved, approved pets are always welcome.

Guests often mention our attention to detail as one of the many reasons this cabin exceeded their expectations. Goldilocks cabin is just right.

About Jill

I am an interior designer who realized I could use my particular talents to create the unique type of vacation rental that I myself am always seeking. In this commoditized world of professionally managed properties it has become difficult to find the personalized and the refreshing in a vacation rental. Goldilocks Cabin is the antidote to this predictability. I am married to a tug boat captain, and we live on Nantucket island with our cat, Charlie, and three chickens.

Jill purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Jill chose Stowe

Goldilocks Cabin was originally the ski cabin of the principal designer at the interior design firm where I was then employed. Together we had great fun decorating the cabin on buying trips to New York, the Paris Flea Market, and at our favorite Vermont antique stores. When my boss decided to buy a bigger house, I jumped at the chance to make Goldilocks Cabin my own.

Goldilocks got it right!

  • 4 of 5

Cute as a button and comfortable as you can get....very cozy. Best nap I've had in years. Great location for doing absolutely nothing! or, close enough to 3 different ski resorts to ski your life away!!

If you've never rented a property before you really should try this one. Great place, great owner, great...Go ahead. Take the 'plunge' and rent this one now before it is all booked up.

Everything was "just right" and more!!!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been more pleasantly surprised with the Goldilocks cottage!! It was absolutely adorable and the setting/property made it very hard to leave and go do our touristy thing for the days we were there. It was so clean and is decorated perfectly, it truly did feel like home away from home!! Very comfortable and cozy!! This trip was a 30 anniversary celebration vaca, when we arrived there was a beautiful "Happy Anniversary" basket filled with delicious goodies (great touch)!! I would not have wanted to spend this celebration anywhere else!!

Sweet Little Vacation Home Close to Downtown

  • 5 of 5

My mother and I enjoyed staying at the cabin for a few days R&R! The bed was super comfortable and the cabin was decorated beautifully - we felt right at home! We were close enough to downtown Stowe that we could pop up for coffee or a quick bite to eat but far enough out that we felt like we were in a peaceful spot. So peaceful in fact, that my mother actually spotted a bear out of the kitchen window in the backyard woods! I'm not one to leave a review, but this really was a sweet little place . . . you won't regret staying here!

Warm, Welcoming Cabin with all the amenities & close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, myself, and our 2-year old pup stayed at Goldilocks Cabin for a weekend in May 2017 to celebrate our 1st anniversary. We came up to Stowe to check out the town, try some great restaurants and visit neighboring breweries, and wanted a comfortable home-base that we could enjoy that was dog-friendly. This rental was the perfect place, for both its quality and convenience!

We were welcomed with a basket of VT goodies, and the cabin was beautifully decorated, cozy and functional - bookshelves filled with books and games, cabinets stocked with wine glasses, tableware and cooking appliances, beautiful window treatments, cabin-themed signs and lamps, and a wood-burning stove.

Our weekend was one to remember, and Goldilocks Cabin was a huge reason. Thank you for the hospitality Jill and for the follow up during and after our stay!

Beautiful, picturesque cabin; best of Vermont and Mountain-life

  • 5 of 5

My partner and our two goldendoodles--Dexter and Merlin--spent a week at Jill's Goldilocks Cabin in February 2017. We both decided it was one of the best vacations we have ever gone on! Jill's cabin is beautiful, cozy, extremely well-decorated and equipped with everything you need to relax and enjoy. The cabin was the perfect size for the four of us; and there was actually plenty of room for an additional couple. We loved our mornings, sitting by the wood-burning stove; and apres ski doing the same. My favorite thing to do was to come home from skiing and build a fire in the stove. The beautiful lighting in the main part of the cabin creates a warm, alpine feel. The main part of the cabin is set up nicely for cooking, relaxing, and eating at the table.

Our dogs loved going for long walks on the beautiful Covered Bridge Road, only 1/10 of a mile from the cabin. They would lay by the fire afterwards. I think they loved the cabin and trip as much as we did. We will definitely be back in 2018!

Another convenient and wonderful thing to consider: we loved how you pull right up to the door while unpacking and packing your car. Sometimes, ski trips are a pain with lugging all your stuff around. But here we packed our car in Pennsylvania, and after a fun road trip, opened the door to the cabin, and basically had to walk three feet to unload all our ski stuff. Makes for an easy ski vacation.

Stowe has wonderful hiking trails, both easy and challenging. There are miles and miles on bike paths for biking and Rollerblading. In the summer there are open air concerts, golfing, fly fishing, hot air balloon rides. There are many beautiful lakes nearby for hiking, canoeing or fishing.Numrrous swimming holes, Stowe is known for its great restaurants, many to choose from just minutes away. There are two spas in Stowe, the Stowe Flake, and Top Notch—both wonderful. There's lots of antiquing in the surrounding areas--and prices in Vermont are quite reasonable. For a day trip choose from Burlington, Montpelier or Montreal.

Stowe is known as the Aspen of the North, and the mountain is recently been improved with new runs, lifts, and world class shopping. There are hundreds of miles of trails for cross country skiing or snow shoeing, and of course ice skating as well.
