About Wayne & Kimberly Pitts

The owners, Kim and Wayne, moved to Albuquerque for graduate school at UNM and fell in love with the Southwest. They built the house when their boys, Forrest and Walker, were little. Kim decorated it with furniture, handicrafts and art from their travels throughout Latin America. Wayne's job moved them away from Albuquerque, but they kept the house and hope to return to live there one day. Forrest and Walker also attended UNM. Walker is now in the Army and Forrest is working full-time. The Land of Enchantment has captured our hearts.

Wayne & Kimberly Pitts purchased this house in 2000

Why Wayne & Kimberly Pitts chose Albuquerque

This house is perfectly situated with easy access to I-40. The owners invested in this part of town because they enjoyed the appeal of living in the southwestern quadrant of Albuquerque. The house is close to Old Town and there are a lot of nearby attractions for children including the world-class zoo, the aquarium and biopark, the Children's Museum, and the Museum of Natural History. There are also some fantastic New Mexican restaurants nearby.

What makes this house unique

Because we built the home using a custom builder, we were able to add some special features. From the moment you enter the hand-carved front gate in the courtyard to the carved posts on the pergola on the back patio, you will notice the special details of this house. All of the furnishings have a unique history and many were made by Mexican artisans.

In the fall, the smell of roasted green chile fills the air and the home is perfectly situated to enjoy the sights of the Sandia Mountains. Don't be surpised to see a hot air balloon fly directly over the house.

Bigger than expected.

  • 5 of 5

The casita is really nice and much bigger than we were expecting. It has all kinds of things to make for a comfortable stay, including several books, a coffee station, cable, and a nice private backyard with a grill. I just wish it had large pots (only small and medium-sized) and a more comfortable dining set, as the chairs were weirdly shaped making it uncomfortable to sit on them. Overall, the listing was very accurate as to what the casita is and has, and the property was well maintained. Wayne and Kim were attentive to our needs but left the casita all to ourselves. The casita has everything one needs to spend a nice time in the Burque.

Very happy with our decision to stay at this property

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I went to Albuquerque for a wedding and rented the property along with my sister and her family. The location is centralized and convenient. The house is beautiful inside and outside. It is clean, spacious, well stocked and very cozy. The owners really go out of their way to make sure the guests maximize their Albuquerque experience. We will definitely stay again the next time we are in town.

Perfect home for a perfect trip!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 former classmates from Espanola, NM came together from various locations to celebrate our 70th birthdays together. We chose this lovely authentic southwestern home as our gathering place each day and 5 of us slept there quite comfortably. The home is warm and inviting, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It is well-equipped with everything you could possibly need. Wayne and Kimberly truly personify "mi casa, su casa".

Comfortable House in a Quiet Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Wayne & Kim's very nice home. It is very comfortable with a great backyard. Being able to park in a garage was great. The house is close to the freeway. We enjoyed being able to come home and relax after a day in Albuquerque or Santa Fe. Wayne called after our arrival to make sure we were settled in and to answer any questions. Both Wayne and Kim were very easy to work with. They also left a detailed guide to restaurants and other Albuquerque sights that was very helpful. We ate a lot of great food based on their recommendations. We really enjoyed El Pinto. I would recommend staying in their home. I will stay here again when I return to Albuquerque.

Enjoyable weekend at an affordable cost

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time I stayed at a home while on holiday. Wayne's home was absolutely comfortable, cozy, and clean. Everything went like clockwork and he was available every time I contacted him. The home is in a gated community and felt secure the entire time we were there.

I would absolutely recommend this home to anyone who was looking to stay the weekend in Albuquerque. Thank you so much Wayne... you and your wife for allowing us the opportunity to enjoy our family time in your home. It sure did beat the cramped feeling of a hotel room... most definitely.
