About Wayne & Kimberly Pitts

The owners, Kim and Wayne, moved to Albuquerque for graduate school at UNM and fell in love with the Southwest. They built the house when their boys, Forrest and Walker, were little. Kim decorated it with furniture, handicrafts and art from their travels throughout Latin America. Wayne's job moved them away from Albuquerque, but they kept the house and hope to return to live there one day. Forrest and Walker also attended UNM. Walker is now in the Army and Forrest is working full-time. The Land of Enchantment has captured our hearts.

Wayne & Kimberly Pitts purchased this house in 2000

Why Wayne & Kimberly Pitts chose Albuquerque

This house is perfectly situated with easy access to I-40. The owners invested in this part of town because they enjoyed the appeal of living in the southwestern quadrant of Albuquerque. The house is close to Old Town and there are a lot of nearby attractions for children including the world-class zoo, the aquarium and biopark, the Children's Museum, and the Museum of Natural History. There are also some fantastic New Mexican restaurants nearby.

What makes this house unique

Because we built the home using a custom builder, we were able to add some special features. From the moment you enter the hand-carved front gate in the courtyard to the carved posts on the pergola on the back patio, you will notice the special details of this house. All of the furnishings have a unique history and many were made by Mexican artisans.

In the fall, the smell of roasted green chile fills the air and the home is perfectly situated to enjoy the sights of the Sandia Mountains. Don't be surpised to see a hot air balloon fly directly over the house.

Wonderful !

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Casita Tranquila. Before we even arrived, the owners were very easy to work with and everything went like clockwork. The house was nice and cool when we arrived, as well as super clean! The house stayed so cool in the 100 degree weather that we found ourselves too cold with the air on over night. That was perfect for a person who likes it cool like me! The beds were comfortable and the rooms were a nice size. The yard was great with the built in barbecue, which we put to good use. The location was quite convenient too as every time we mapped something, it came up as 20 minutes away. Overall we had a great time and appreciated the house very much!

A Lovely Home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with a long-time friend shared this lovely casita while in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area. We were looking for a place that had ample room and privacy for all three of us as well as a great outdoor living/cooking area. This house certainly did those things and more.

From start to finish, the process of renting the house and receiving the refund on the damage deposit went smoothly. Kim and Wayne, while not on the premises, were helpful when we needed something, but otherwise we were happily left to our own agenda.

The pictures of the house do not do it justice. Everything was pristine clean, and the house amply furnished for a long visit. We especially appreciated the kitchen, which was outfitted with all the things we needed to make delicious meals. The herb/spice shelves were an extra touch.

The beds were comfortable and having a ceiling fan in each room was a very welcomed touch. While we didn't use the kiva in the master bedroom, it would be great in cooler weather!

We travel with our two Chihuahuas who were welcome at the house. The enclosed yard goes all the way around the property, so you can let your pets roam as they will. Ours really enjoyed the backyard, but then, so did we!

The VRBO description is spot on, and I would recommend renting this house for your stay in Albuquerque. It's only a hour to Santa Fe, and even closer to head north on the Turquoise Trail. There is so much to see and do in the area, and brochures have been thoughtfully collected and placed in the kitchen area to inform visitors of all the sights and sounds.

Thanks to our gracious hosts for the stay in their gorgeous home. The week was amazing, and we can't wait to return.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and charming, and contained everything we could possibly need. Our sister-in-law from Michigan loved that we'd found a place with a New Mexican vibe. We spent a lot of time in the pleasant backyard. The owners could not have been more prompt or pleasant to communicate with. An all-round great experience!

Absolutely great!

  • 5 of 5

Great place and beautiful. Owners called to ensure arrival and answer questions. I would stay again in the future. We weren't there too much due to attending events, but it was comfortable and lots of patio space.

Best Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

This place is wonderful. The accommodations are top notch, well maintained, secure, beautiful and easy to get to. Also, close to the freeway, grocery stores and 15-20 minutes to Old Town and Downtown. We will return. Thank you.

The property was simply wonderful. Only thing i would prefer is a queen bed in one of the two bedro

  • 5 of 5

It was easy access to everything we wanted to do. It is a lovey floor plan. Three couples stayed and all enjoyed. Being dog friendly is such a great asset. We really enjoyed the back yard and grill. There was only one negative the ice maker doesnt work except for a few cubes each day but it was an easy fix with a bag of ice. We will be staying again when we come back.
