We value our guests' privacy and comfort above all. Please don't hesitate to ask for anything you need to make your stay more enjoyable.
Johanna Carr purchased this cottage in 2006
The property offers the ideal mountain experience: Gorgeous views, without the falling-over-a-cliff landscape which usually accompanies it! Secluded, rolling hills dotted with cows, yet close to downtown. Farmland punctuated by mountain and equestrian homes. We've never had a visitor who hasn't commented on the serenity and the beauty of our property.
My wife and I visited Asheville for our anniversary, and we were hoping for a peaceful get-away, with plenty of design esthetic that was still close enough to the city & sights for us to take it all in. This cottage was that dream come true. Every single detail of this home is so perfectly thought out! We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
The home was immaculate when we arrived. There was a thoughtful welcome packet to help us feel at home, and familiarize us with the area. She had a fire-pit prepared for arrival - so on our first night, we sliced the delicious pound cake she left us, made some hot chocolate with the packets and local cream she left and started a cozy fire on the porch to cuddle up next to. It was the perfect way to start our trip!
We experienced everything you'd hope for when you rent a home. Perfectly clean, absolutely comfortable, great design elements, with complete privacy. Not to mention the perfect natural light that all of the windows gather up for you.
Johanna was very responsive when we had any questions or requests, including graciously providing plenty of suggestions for restaurants, shops and sights. If we make it out to Asheville again, there's no question where we're staying.
My husband and I have always preferred staying in vacation rentals while traveling, but now that we have a baby, a clean, comfortable, spacious rental is a must. This rental is absolutely immaculate! From the polished concrete floors to the beautiful counters in the kitchen and the sparkling white bathroom, I had no reservations about letting my 9 month old crawl all over the place and explore his temporary home.
A vacation rental such as this far exceeds a hotel room when traveling with a baby. The exceptionally accommodating owner made sure we had all the comforts of home, including a brand new pack and play (with sheets), an infant bath tub, a high chair, and a changing table. Other thoughtful touches included a package of baby wipes in the changing table and several baby books displayed on the windowsill near the crib. It made traveling with a baby so easy! There were also locally made muffins and scones, yogurt, and even k-cups for the coffee maker (cream and sugar provided as well). It was so nice not to have to worry about running out in the morning to find a store and purchase these things on day one. The kitchen is well-equipped and we prepared several meals there.
The rental is spacious and beautiful. Having a separate bedroom where we could put our baby to sleep in the evenings so that my husband and I could enjoy the evening relaxing by the fire pit or watching tv, without having to tiptoe and whisper was wonderful. We were all so comfortable, we really didn't want to leave!
The owner and her family are fabulous people. They truly want their guests to feel at home. They are available if/when you need them, but completely respect your privacy otherwise. The rental is even nicer than the pictures demonstrate. The value of this place is incredible. My family and I love to travel and don't often visit the same place twice, but the beauty of Asheville and the comfort and ease of travel the farmhouse provides has convinced us to return this summer. Thanks Johanna and family!
This was our third stay here, and it just seems to get better each visit. The home is spotless, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Johanna is a wonderful host - with fresh eggs, creamer and goodies upon arrival. The goats, chickens and dogs are also very welcoming : ). We cook a lot while we're there, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you may need. Asheville is a short drive away, as was as the Biltmore, Sierra Nevada, hiking, and many other things to do. The home is attached to the owner's main house, but is completely private. We can't wait to go back again soon!
very clean, excellent, and baby-child friendly. Very close to Asheville and convenient for day trips. Kitchen is perfectly equipped and overall it is a charming and comfortable farm house. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning.
Cozy. Clean. Quiet. Beautiful. Impeccable. A serene, country French meets modern open-living, eco-designed farm cottage tucked away in a private rustic setting. It has a landscape view that a painter would crave to recreate on canvas. It was my fiftieth birthday and needed a reflective getaway place to welcome the start of a new decade. It achieved this and more. My friend and I were in awe of the attention to detail in this lovely little piece of heaven. We had a welcoming committee of the family’s well-cared for goats and dog. Fresh farm eggs and local treats were stocked in the refrigerator. This place is amazing and even prettier in person than in the pictures. We hiked daily and spent our days enjoying the foods and artistic charms in Asheville. Each morning, we found it irresistibly hard to leave this light-filled, happy spot supplied with fresh, crisp bed linens, comfy couch down pillows, 100% cotton oversized bath towels, and organic soaps. The patio is private with roses, boxwoods, privacy trees, and is equipped with a fire pit ready to light with multiple chairs to choose your favorite lounging spot. We peacefully marveled at the star-filled evening sky and soaked up the fresh morning mountain air over an organic cup of coffee and tea (stocked in kitchen). I loved petting the friendly, peaceful goats and the playful family dog when leaving the property each day. I enjoyed reading the home design books stacked on the shelves, but there are lots of other items like games and toys, organized creatively to entertain all family members. I truly appreciated the eco-organic cleanliness and care of this house because I have multiple sensitivities. Finally, the owners valued our privacy and would respond quickly to any inquiries or assistance, if we needed it. They even show a welcoming, casual sense of humor in their home rules guide to the apartment. If you are smiling reading this review, then image the bigger smile you will have when you feel the unexpected joy and love these owners have put into this property when you walk through the door.
We loved this this vacation retreat. The mini-house had all the essentials including fresh eggs and milk. We visited Biltmore (again), the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and downtown Asheville. We couldn't think of anything else we needed and wished we could have stayed longer - maybe next time!
A friend and myself wanted to do something different and not stay in commercial lodging. And boy was it the right decision. We were greeted with farm fresh eggs, cream and butter in a full size refrigerate along with a warm note that told us all we needed to know about the property and its amenities. This humble adobe brings with it a rare level of comfort that allowed a person who normally has a hard time resting when away from home, to do so. Like all of the other reviewers have said, the online pictures does not do this property any justice. This is the only place we will ever lodge in from now on while in the Asheville area.
15 minutes to Biltmore Estate.
20 minutes to downtown Asheville.
10 minutes to nearest supermarket (Ingles).
13 minutes to the nearest organic market (Earthfare).
10 minutes to a truly great latte.
