About Lara Pullen
I am a work-at-home mom with three children. We love to travel and frequently rent from vrbo. We love moving into a comfortable home in the heart of a community and exploring local life. We hope to offer the same joy to you by renting out the Yellow Cottage for your vacation. We live next door to the Yellow Cottage and I hope to be able to make your visit to Oak Park an enjoyable one.

Why Lara Pullen chose Oak Park
We love Oak Park. We moved here for its diversity and its vibrant, child-friendly culture. We live next door to the lovely Yellow Cottage. I was raised in the Midwest in a simple yellow home that looks much like this Yellow Cottage.
What makes this Cottage unique
This home will allow you to explore Chicago and Oak Park while living comfortably in a home away from home. As a mom, I understand that a good vacation is a comfortable bed and the ability to put good food in front of my children. If you stay at our cottage you will not be eating typical restaurant fare. We have a grocery store that is just walking distance away and a Whole Foods that is a 5 minute drive away. You can serve healthy food to your family or take them, like I do to the Buzz Cafe (as seen in New York Times) for a good cup of coffee and simple, wholesome cafe food.

Great location but property needs repair
This house has easy access to the Blue line train, making it easy to get downtown. Unfortunately, the house has a significant mold problem and was mold was visible in the bathroom and laundry machine, where all linens and towels are cleaned.
Sweet Yellow Cottage
Wonderful home away from home in a fun neighborhood with great hosts!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s our second time staying at the yellow cottage. Bunnies in the yard, comfortable bed, great pillows make the place a top notch place to stay.
Cute home on a charming street
This home is on a quiet street and is just a short walk to the El station. It's also a short drive to downtown Oak Park, which we enjoyed. Checking in was very easy, and our kids loved the twin bedroom and the storybooks on the bookshelf there! This is a charming older home, so it suffers from problems you might expect in an older home - mold in the bathroom, for example. The home is not specifically set up for renters as much as other VRBOs we have stayed in, but we had what we needed to enjoy our trip. Our youngest asks when we are going back to "our yellow house"!
What a great stay!
Our friends from Poland loved staying in the yellow cottage!
Lovely, Cozy, great location
Great location to downtown Oak Park and easy access to downtown Chicago. Comfortable stay with three generations. Was very clean, neighborhood was warm and inviting. Attending Catholic services across street and church was stunning. Would recommend.
Thank you for staying with us and for your review!
Oak Park is home to the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio. The Village also contains many of the homes that he designed. Because of this and other styles of architecture, the Village may be considered a living architectural museum. Visitors travel from all over the world to see the architecture in the Village. Oak Park is also the birth place and childhood home of Ernest Hemingway. The Village has a museum dedicated to his life and work. Hemingway's home is also in Oak Park and is open for tours. The Harrison Street Art District is located about 15 minutes by foot from the Yellow Cottage. The art district has street fairs and studios. It also has many activities for children: everything from drop-in fun to two week all-day camps. There is a lovely yoga studio (Yoga Trek) that is walking distance (15 minutes) from the Yellow Cottage. The studio has classes and it is also possible to book private sessions at the studio. Other local attractions include: coffee shops, beer gardens, many parks, conservatory, public pool, theater, shopping, library, ice skating rink, and a sledding hill.
