Due to unforeseen circumstances due to virus outbreak we were unable to make our trip. The owners of this property were more than understanding and helpful in rebooking our stay. Will continue to book with them in the future when their property is available.
These are unprecedented times we are in right now. We really appreciate your cooperation and we will continue to accommodate in any way we can.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review and we look forward to having you stay with us.

We loved the location of the property in relation to Front St Lahaina.
Also, our room was located perfectly to walk straight out and into town.
We loved the path out the back door to the pool area.
Lance and Rick were easily reached with any questions we had.
Overall, perfect vacation. We will definitely stay here again.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful property!
Steve: Thank you very much for taking the time to write a response. It means a lot to us to know that our guests are satisfied with the condo. I agree with you, the location is perfect and half the price of many of the hotels on the island. The path out the back door to the smaller pool and then on to the bigger pool is a gem; quiet and quick. We are so happy you came and hope to have you on our reservation list again very soon.

Property is Unsafe
We had minor maintenance issues upon arrival, but were working with the owner and would not have had any issues. Owner is very responsive. The inside of the unit was as described but the outside was terrible. The exterior of the buildings and the common elements do not appear to be kept up at all.
More importantly, the property is unsafe. The unit is the first unit on the first floor in the building closest to the main sidewalk and a public parking lot across the street. There is no fence and nothing to keep anyone from walking in.
We had someone banging on our door at 10:30 p.m. Maybe 5 minutes later they were messing with the handle trying to access the unit. There is no peephole and no side window you can see through to determine who is at the door. When I asked who was there, there was no response.
We called the property manager to ask if it was maintenance or someone she sent and her only response was "That's creepy." Our efforts to contact the 24- hour onsite security were futile. The phone rang as if it was off the hook.
We could not sleep that night and our two young children were very nervous and scared. Around 3:00 a.m. someone returned banging on the door and another person was yelling from further down the hall. It was a terrible night and a terrible experience. I would not risk my vacation on this unit.
Although after we left I received a message that the owner and the property manager would have helped to make our stay better, the fact of the matter was no one was there to help us that night. The property manager (who is the only person actually in the vicinity) did nothing.
We are out a significant amount of money because we booked another hotel and neither the owner nor HomeAway will refund us any portion of our stay. However, leaving was the best thing we did.
Another thing I noticed after this event was that the owner sent me the door code in March for my August visit. This means the code was not changed in all that time and anyone who stayed at the property continued to have access to the unit. More importantly, I had until June to cancel. So anyone can make a reservation and then cancel and still have the door code.
The purpose of this review is two-fold. First and foremost, to warn future travelers so they do not have the same experience. Second, to put this owner and HomeAway publicly on notice so when and if something happens at this unit, they cannot continue to claim ignorance of the safety issues.
Firstly, we are very sorry that someone banged on this guest's door. At Aina Nalu, there are over 8 wings of 180 condos all of which have similar looking doors. We assume that someone made an innocent mistake and was trying to get in to the wrong room. This is very regrettable, but we do not feel that that justifies her assertion that the property is unsafe or that she should have vacated the unit and demanded a full refund.
Upon further investigation, we discovered that the telephone number for security that the guest was calling was incorrect and therefore she could not reach anyone. We are not sure where she received the phone number.
Her assertion that there is one kaba code to enter the unit for all guests is incorrect. We use an online webpage to set a different code for each guest. The door locks once you have shut it, so although someone was banging on the door, there would have been no way for that person to get in. There is a window beside the door that runs from floor to ceiling that the guest could have used to see whoever was banging. In fact, you can see the window next to the door on the 7th picture on our VRBO webpage. There is also a waist-high, stone wall that surrounds the property.
Again, we feel very sorry that the guest decided to leave based on this sole issue and we stand by our opinion that the property is safe. In addition, between our two units at Aina Nalu, we have over 150 very favorable reviews about guests' stays on VRBO. None of them mention a problem with security.
Ohana Reunion/Vaca (Property #319429)
Property overall was a wonderful stay. We had over 40 members of our family staying at the Aina Nalu in Lahina, Maui and everyone of our Ohana had nothing negative to say.
Unfortunately, Aina Nalu was not able to accommodate our large group at the Pavillion and wish something could be done about this
Also wondering if something could be done with the extensive amount of emails received. For someone renting one room probably is not a problem. I had 7 rooms I rented and having to respond to so many emails was difficult.
For example there were multiple emails to check out from. Members of this property were checked out by 11:00am on 27 June.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. We were very happy to hear that your Ohana reunion went well and you and your family enjoyed your time there. I think your review will be extremely helpful for future guests who are staying at Aina Nalu with large parties. I have just mailed our homeowners' association president to see if there is any way of extending the capacity limit on the pavilion to accommodate larger parties. I hope it leads to an improvement for our guests in the future. In regard to the emails and the two units you rented from us, you are absolutely right, I could have/should have consolidated the two emails into one that I sent you. I will be sure to do that for future guests who book our two units together. Thank you again for giving us these valuable comments. We hope you will be able to come back to stay with us again.

Cindy: Woohoo! We love getting reviews like this. Thanks so much for taking the time to write the review and we are thrilled you enjoyed your time on Maui. It is a perfect place for a family with the two bedrooms/bathrooms, close proximity to downtown so you don't have to drive and park there, etc. We sure hope you will come back to stay with us again very soon.

Why Rick chose Historic Lahaina Front Street
Lahaina Town is a spectacular location in Maui. Our unit is a few minutes walk from Front Street where you will find the waterfront, restaurants, shops, galleries, and nightlife.
What makes this Condo unique
Aina Nalu has a true spa feeling. The infinity pool has a view of the mountains that is truly spectacular and saline solution is used to keep the pool clean. (That means you do not leave the pool smelling of chlorine and it does not dry you skin out.) Walking around the resort you will see lush foliage and tranquil fountains.
